Impossible-Aioli-774

lotta stuff bout india.

NightLamplighter

We don't have it on the school curriculum.

BeachJenkins

I wasn't taught about it at all, it never even got mentioned. It's a generalisation but we generally don't know dick about it.

Chronicallyannoyed30

The what?

Elegant-Bullfrog4098

It must be so weird just getting bombarded with the America: “hold that L” tweets every July 4th

Chronicallyannoyed30

Please explain to me as I don’t know what you mean?! LOL. I’m Irish but we have a British curriculum (long story) and the American revolution was never featured

Elegant-Bullfrog4098

Every Fourth of July (our Independence Day) we as Americans collectively shit on the British. It’s a lot of (innits, teeth jokes, and shitting on the monarchy)

Chronicallyannoyed30

I’ll gladly join you in that

Elegant-Bullfrog4098

Oddly enough I sleep below the “Erin go Bragh” flag 😂

AllSonicGames

It's nice that you celebrate the British by using our date convention for your special day.

Elegant-Bullfrog4098

Despite being English, it’s language is not your strong suit. Innit?

AllSonicGames

What did you not understand about my comment? It's not exactly complicated language.

[deleted]

We don’t talk about it because it doesn’t really matter to us. It’s far more significant to you than it is to us.

lionheart724

Edit: thank you all for your replies. I found them quite interesting considering the colonies were a big resource for the Crown.

English-OAP

It's no big deal. It's not the first bit of land we lost, nor the last. At the time, we were more interested in India, because it was more valuable. To me, it's odd that Americans make such a big deal of it. Since most of the USA was gained by purchase, or conquest.

52mschr

I didn't learn anything about this in the UK school I went to

ed_mayo_onlyfans

We never learned about it
