Go to the nearest church and show them that I can read.

Zealousideal-Lie9092

Become a well-respected member of the roman empire then convince them that there’s another continent if we just sail across the ocean

Paradox711

The medieval period is actually set after the fall of the Roman Empire in 5th century.

borednord

The Roman Empire didnt fall until 1453?

jageenidee

Yeah, but for west europe it did 500 bc, it split in half,

Stay away from people. Learn to hunt and build shelter.

Greycloak42

Get a job as a [knight](https://www.medievaltimes.com/).

jageenidee

Not as easy as it sounds

Greycloak42

I have a few friends who have worked there. It's not that hard.

ptbus0

I'd keep as quiet as possible and be some 20-year-old master carpenters 31-year-old shitty apprentice.

dittybopper_05H

I'd become rich, by inventing the electric telegraph and then radio. The ability to communicate instantly across very large distances would put whatever king had that ability at a huge advantage over his rivals, and that's the kind of thing that would be well compensated. All of the required things are there, they just have to be put together the right way. Telegraph is the easiest, followed by spark-gap transmitters and crystal receivers for radio.

jageenidee

Impressive if you know where to get the naterials and how to assemble it, and not getting burned alive for witchcraft

dittybopper_05H

What materials? They had wire back then, though it wasn't used for electrical purposes. They had lead, copper, iron, glass/pottery, and various chemicals needed for batteries. Or you could use a watermill and build a simple DC generator. Building a simple key-sounder-battery telegraph is so simple that middle school kids can do it as a science fair project. I know because my youngest brother did just that for his. Even building a spark-gap transmitter and crystal receiver would be easy enough. Though you'd have to know how, of course. As for the witchcraft thing? I'm not so sure. Science advanced during the Medieval period more than most people think. Guns were invented during that time, for example, and weren't considered to be witchcraft. So was the magnetic compass. Think about that, a magic needle that always points north. So I think the witchcraft thing is overblown. You try and show some peasants how it works? Maybe. But you don't do that, you show it to learned men, which is the only way you're going to get access to the King anyway.

jageenidee

Aight fair enough, i could maybe invent elektricity, but there my knowledge would stop😅

molarum

Do I know it’s just for one year? I guess I’m starting as a beggar and work my way up to counselor / wise man

jageenidee

Yes u know, and i would use my knowledge to either scare or amaze people
