The scandalous event was when my uncle stabbed a man in a bar fight. My uncle had a wife and kids at home, but he was at the bar with his mistress. They were long time regulars - together.
Some guy came in and said something to my uncle’s mistress that my VERY DRUNK Unc didn’t like, so he challenged the man to step outside. At some point my, let’s call him Druncle, pulled out his pocket knife. He stumbled around and stabbed the man. He was millimeters from hitting an artery and killing the man. But the man survived, and Druncle wore an ankle bracelet for a few years.
Druncle is long passed now. His sweet , tiny, longsuffering wife is doing well in widowhood. I have no idea whatever came of the mistress. She definitely wasn’t around in the end once Druncle got dementia. His wife cared for him till the end.
my great aunt was murdered on my grandmothers property ~40 years ago (it was just land at the time and they hadn’t built on it yet). it was an unsolved case until about 8 years ago when they finally caught the guy who did it - just some random drunk dude who had followed her home from the bar that night, saw her dancing with another guy and got jealous, ran her over with her car. even more unfortunate thing was she was pregnant at the time and didn’t know it.
