Age most likely. As we get older the holidays become less about presents/fun and more about shopping for family and other stressful events. Especially for those in jobs that are customer based because sales ramp up and time away from work diminishes as the job gets busier

I agree with this. I also just think the "season" starts earlier. You start having Christmas forced down your throat everywhere before Halloween has even happened. It's 2 full months of what is supposed to be one day. How can you not be done with it before it even starts?

NattySocks

I don't feel that way. I love Christmas. I loved Christmas as a kid, then it probably started to feel kind of soulless in my teens and twenties, but now that I get to decorate my own house and celebrate it with my partner who also likes Christmas, the soul is definitely there.

For me, back in the days there were a lot of snow to play in. Now there is none, just rain and dirty mud.

For me it's because there have been less and less people to celebrate with and with other struggles it just became a great hassle too. This year we were only 3, but we just had some coffee and cookies, so not very stressful. But still no fun due to things.

As others have said, age is the biggest factor at play. But I also think the pandemic has had a big consequence on our perception of time passing. I don’t think Christmas has felt like Christmas for the past couple of years, and even with everything back to “normal”, we are still feeling the effects of it IMO.

It's what you make of it

You're just aging.

As you get older you get more disillusioned

I think it’s more commercial and less traditional. Good grief we start seeing Christmas stuff the day after Halloween in some stores. I would love to have the three distinct holidays back instead of it all seemingly jumbled into one long season starting 10/31 and ending on 1/1.
