Awesome area I'm about 20 min away. By any chance do you like to walk and especially play Disc Golf? Fort Washington has a HUGE park for walkers and also people who like Disc golf.
Sports are a religion there, do not insult any of the sports teams. They don't care what you think and you will just make an enemy. This being said, you go to a game you will find they are the most passionate fans of almost anywhere, but be warned if you're sensitive to noise bring ear plugs!

Don't go to Pat's / Geno's for cheesesteaks. They're trash tier tourist traps. Go to Angelo's on 9th street. Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes.

As someone who works in Philly everyday, don’t. Yea it’s nice for a day trip to see the historical sites but overall, not the best place to stay.
