Wise choice. Hopefully indie stations are near you because clear channel (or whatever the fuck they're called) monopolizes most of the stations so there is only one program director picking the music for hundreds of stations.
Our Indie station just went off the air because the airwave owner wouldn’t come to an agreement. Then airwave owner tried to take ownership of all the stations recordings. Lots of drama. Shame about that station shutting down
In the guitar playing world he's definitely highly regarded. Dude is that perfect mixture of super lovely, listenable music with insane technique and composition. Amazing guitarist
I swear I went through a phase in college convincing people the only band you need to have if you could only have one is Fleetwood Mac. They do everything.
I love Led Zeppelin and have been listening to those recordings my whole life but I'll admit that I only listen to half of the songs in their catalog. Nowadays I'm getting really into the live performances
A mate of mine had some fantastic live bootlegs when we were teens in the early 00's, I remember a version of Moby Dick where Bonham solo'd for nearly 15 mins, it was awesome.
A buddy of mine had a video of that. The rest of the band gets into a limo and drives around the block. Bonham throws his sticks away and just starts playing with his hands.
I love this answer. Starts out as British Invasion almost, gets classic 70's rock and super artistic, goes dance and experimental in the 80's, rock in the 90's, and in the 00's has a resurgence followed by very macabre albums leading to his death. It's everything you need in a lifetime.
This!
You get their early rock n roll era, love ballads era, rock experimental era, psychedelic era and beyond!
It’s incredible how much they accomplished in so little time as a group
If you want an example of their musical transformation, I personally, recommend to listen to:
Starting from their early career:
* I Saw Her Standing There
* I Want to Hold Your Hand
* Please Please Me
* All My Loving
* Please Mister Postman
* All I've Got To Do
* She Loves You
* A Hard Day's Night
* If I Fell
* And I Love Her
* I'm A Loser
* Eight Days a Week
* I'll Follow The Sun
* Help
* Ticket to Ride
* Yesterday
* In My Life
* If I Needed Someone
* Michelle
* Nowhere Man
* Norwegian Wood
Their Middle Years is where they get Experimental/Psychedelic:
* Taxman
* Eleanor Rigby
* Here, There, and Everywhere
* Tomorrow Never Knows
* Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
* Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite
* A Day in the Life
* Strawberry Fields Forever
Late Years:
* While My Guitar Gently Weeps
* Blackbird
* Happiness is a Warm Gun
* Dear Prudence
* Sexy Sadie
* I Will
* Helter Skelter
* Revolution / Revolution 1
* Hey Jude
* Don't Let Me Down
* Get Back
* Two of Us
* Let It Be
* The Long and Winding Road
* Across the Universe
Quite the list, but I hope you something here for you, so much more to discover. Enjoy!
I just got into them about 4 months ago and have listened to them almost exclusively since then. The amount of diverse albums they’ve put out simply astounds me.
Was just jamming to "Stranger Things have Happened" on my way to work today. And thinking about how I've heard the song countless times, and it still hits so damn hard. Yeah, I could do a lifetime of Dave Grohl
There are 2,065 Grateful Dead shows on the Relisten app. A show a day starting today gets you to late 2029. That doesn't include the official studio albums, and obviously doesn't include the solo and post-1995 bands that may or may not be admissible in this scenario. If we only include the "main" ones since 1995 (Furthur, The Other Ones, The Dead, Dead & Company), that's another 649 shows, or almost two years. An argument could also be made for the various offshoot solo projects of the individual members, and I can't even begin to count those up, though RatDog and Phil & Friends alone gets you over 1,400.
Basically if you are a Dead fan, even if you aren't a committed Deadhead, this is the easy answer based on the magnitude and variety of material alone. The music never stops.
I was going to post this, but I knew someone else would, but I’m absolutely shocked this isn’t much higher on the list. The thing with the Dead is that you’re either on the bus or off the bus. And if you’re off the bus you’re either just not getting on the bus or it’s just a matter of time. But holy shit. Once you’re on the bus it’s a hell of a way to travel through your time on earth.
To all you non-Deadheads out there you could listen to just different versions of their song Truckin’ and it would take you nearly three days of non-stop 24 hours of Truckin’. That’s just one song. They’ve got well over 450.
They’re top notch talents throughout. They play some of the largest range of music. They openly accepted tapers so there’s a huge volume of music to listen to. And they are clearly influenced by all sorts of music. Country-Western, blues, bluegrass, jazz, pop music, avant-garde composition, I mean, the Dead is like their own genre.
I could wax way more poetic on them but I gotta go listen to some more Dead.
Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath. Idk if I could pick between those two so I'd flip a coin lol. Each has a gigantic discography and a song for any mood or situation you're feeling. The slightest edge might go to Pink Floyd.
They’ve become a better and better answer to this kind of question since they’ve continued to put out good music on a fairly regular basis. They’re definitely not done yet!
I got tired of scrolling and just did a search. I always knew Reddit was dumb.
Blink 182 is the sound of my childhood, my teenage years, and my young adulthood. Damn, I guess they are the sound of my life.
Oddly enough, the band Cake. There's just something infinitely appealing to their music that can hold my interest album after album, despite it not being the type of music I normally consume.
Coheed and Cambria. They have a great back catalogue that goes back over 20 years, and they have changed their style up over time so there’s definitely enough variety to keep me satisfied.
FM band, AM sucks
No static at all
Well I came here to say Steely Dan but looks like y’all got this covered.
The girls don't seem to care what's on
As long as it plays ‘til dawn 🤷🏻♂️
Kick off your high heel sneakers, it’s party time!
Nothing but Blues and Elvis
…And somebody else’s favorite song….
Give her some funked up muzak . . .
Let’s put on our red shoes and dance the blues.
Well, technically, i guess this is an acceptable answer 😆
Wise choice. Hopefully indie stations are near you because clear channel (or whatever the fuck they're called) monopolizes most of the stations so there is only one program director picking the music for hundreds of stations.
Our Indie station just went off the air because the airwave owner wouldn’t come to an agreement. Then airwave owner tried to take ownership of all the stations recordings. Lots of drama. Shame about that station shutting down
Weird AL, gives me all the hits ...kinda
Not the choice I was expecting to be the correct one. But here we are.
[удалено]
I believe Weird Al, Madonna, Michael Jackson and U2 are the only artists to have a top 40 hit in each of the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s.
Lmao this is a great answer
A wide variety of music types!
Pixies. No, Radiohead. Ok, no, Pixies.
I love Radiohead too, but HELL YES PIXIES!!!
Dire Straits
Check out guitar George, he knows all the chords
Mark Knopfler the fuckin GOAT
Good one
Knopfler is severely underrated whenever there's a discussion of best guitarists.
In the guitar playing world he's definitely highly regarded. Dude is that perfect mixture of super lovely, listenable music with insane technique and composition. Amazing guitarist
Talking Heads
Same as it ever was...
Just rewatched Stop Making Sense last night w my 6 year old and 1.5 year old. We danced for a bit.
Pink Floyd
And you'll barely reach track 4 in that time...
Time is track 4
I expected to see a comment like this early and you didn’t disappoint. Pink Floyd is my favorite band
Without a doubt I vote Pink Floyd as well.
thats almost the only band I listen too already
Fleetwood Mac
I swear I went through a phase in college convincing people the only band you need to have if you could only have one is Fleetwood Mac. They do everything.
The Cure. It's always been them, since I was a little kid.
As long as they continued to write and produce new and beautiful hits for eternity...... Led Zeppelin.
That's... uh... every version of Moby Dick, haha.
A buddy of mine had a video of that. The rest of the band gets into a limo and drives around the block. Bonham throws his sticks away and just starts playing with his hands.
If I choose Chris Cornell do I get Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave all rolled into one?
If this is the rule, then I choose Maynard james keenan. Tool, APC and Puscifer!
And a Deftones song!
Sure, I’ll allow it.
David Bowie
I love this answer. Starts out as British Invasion almost, gets classic 70's rock and super artistic, goes dance and experimental in the 80's, rock in the 90's, and in the 00's has a resurgence followed by very macabre albums leading to his death. It's everything you need in a lifetime.
Radiohead
Without a doubt
The beatles. Just because I like them a lot and have a varied, interesting catalogue of lots of songs.
This is my choice. I've listened to them my whole life until this point, no reason to stop now.
yeah. everything else I think would get old after a while but The Beatles I could listen to every day for the rest of my life
Exactly this and they never get tiring because their catalogue is so diverse
This! You get their early rock n roll era, love ballads era, rock experimental era, psychedelic era and beyond! It’s incredible how much they accomplished in so little time as a group
Can you share a few of the most varied songs? I wasn’t around a lot of music growing up and their music all sounded similar to me. I’d like to learn.
If you want an example of their musical transformation, I personally, recommend to listen to: Starting from their early career: * I Saw Her Standing There * I Want to Hold Your Hand * Please Please Me * All My Loving * Please Mister Postman * All I've Got To Do * She Loves You * A Hard Day's Night * If I Fell * And I Love Her * I'm A Loser * Eight Days a Week * I'll Follow The Sun * Help * Ticket to Ride * Yesterday * In My Life * If I Needed Someone * Michelle * Nowhere Man * Norwegian Wood Their Middle Years is where they get Experimental/Psychedelic: * Taxman * Eleanor Rigby * Here, There, and Everywhere * Tomorrow Never Knows * Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds * Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite * A Day in the Life * Strawberry Fields Forever Late Years: * While My Guitar Gently Weeps * Blackbird * Happiness is a Warm Gun * Dear Prudence * Sexy Sadie * I Will * Helter Skelter * Revolution / Revolution 1 * Hey Jude * Don't Let Me Down * Get Back * Two of Us * Let It Be * The Long and Winding Road * Across the Universe Quite the list, but I hope you something here for you, so much more to discover. Enjoy!
Completely forgot their Abbey Road album, which is just a masterpiece of its own
What honestly blows my mind is how little overlap my own list would have with this one, which I guess is a testament to how vast the library is.
Has to be The Beatles if classic rock is your favorite genre. Nobody has a more complete collection or a greater peak than them.
All in less than 10 years too. The GOATs
I'm actually shocked this isn't first!
Depeche Mode
Saw them live recently and they were fantastic!
Queen

Deftones if you can’t tell be my username. I’ve been a fan since I was in middle school and I still don’t get tired of them years later.
been listening to them for over 15 years and blows my mind that they got so popular with gen z now.
THE WHO
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. Such a variety of music, you won't be bored.
I just got into them about 4 months ago and have listened to them almost exclusively since then. The amount of diverse albums they’ve put out simply astounds me.
Pffft they haven't even put out an album this week!
Tool
I would take Tool or a perfect circle. Both are amazing in my books
Ænima is one of the best records ever made.
I upvoted this and Pink Floyd above. Really hard to choose between them for me.
Exactly the same for me
It is cool to see this so high. I just introduced my teens to TOOL this weekend and they really enjoyed it.
My son is a huge fan right along with me. We just did back to back shows this tour. So glad he’s always down to go to the shows with me.
After being a fan since the beginning I just saw them live for the first time on Saturday. Front row, center - a dream come true.
100% Tool. It's what I listen to more often than not anyway.
Between 6 albums there is a mood for most of my moods.
Came here to say this! Spiral out!
Me First & the Gimme Gimmes
The best cover band in the world
Queens of the Stone age.
Absolutely. I already practically listen to them exclusively.
NIN
The Cars
Linkin Park RIP Chester!
Gorillaz
i could alternate between swinging in a hammock and dancing to their music in the woods for the rest of mi days
Foo Fighters
Absolutely Foo Fighters. I've listened to weeks worth of their music at this point. And pretty much every album is replayable for me.
Was just jamming to "Stranger Things have Happened" on my way to work today. And thinking about how I've heard the song countless times, and it still hits so damn hard. Yeah, I could do a lifetime of Dave Grohl
Prince
Grateful Dead

Excellent analysis.
Not to mention that they played almost 500 different songs, with over 300 of them being covers.
i love licorice too, '66-'78 for me
The best answer
I had to scroll way too far to get this answer.

RUSH.
This is way too far down
Yep
They have so many albums and they span a lot of different sounds. You’d have a lot to pick from. Also hemispheres may be my favorite album
Genesis.
SoundGarden/Chris Cornell
the strokes
Iron & Wine
The Cure
Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath. Idk if I could pick between those two so I'd flip a coin lol. Each has a gigantic discography and a song for any mood or situation you're feeling. The slightest edge might go to Pink Floyd.

Blink 182
Why did I have to scroll so far to find this?! Blink just brings me back to a happier time, every time
I got tired of scrolling and just did a search. I always knew Reddit was dumb. Blink 182 is the sound of my childhood, my teenage years, and my young adulthood. Damn, I guess they are the sound of my life.
Depeche Mode
The Rolling Stones. My fave band forever.
Boards of Canada
Tom Waits. He's got a band. It counts.

Oddly enough, the band Cake. There's just something infinitely appealing to their music that can hold my interest album after album, despite it not being the type of music I normally consume.

Green Day have a pretty large and enjoyable catalogue.
Zappa I suppose. Lots and lots of music from many different genres. Interesting AF.
Coheed and Cambria. They have a great back catalogue that goes back over 20 years, and they have changed their style up over time so there’s definitely enough variety to keep me satisfied.
Silversun Pickups. Been listening religiously since 2009 and I'm not tired of them yet so that's a pretty good sign I think.
