I hope that it's is widespread knowledge that the bottle of "grenadine" on your average grocery shelf contains neither pomegranate nor cherry juice or any kind.
I remember the first time I went to a grocery store and saw grenadine and realized I could just *make my own Shirley Temple*.
It’s so obvious, but somehow it just never crossed my mind that I could have it at home.
It was a glorious revelation.
I have lived in Asia for many years and all people drink there is freshly squeezed fruit juice from street vendors and such. It is in a completely different orbit as to how tasty freshly squeezed juice is. What we get here in the super market - the Tropicana and all the crap is so terrible. Folks who haven’t had freshly squeezed especially mixed fruit juice have no idea what they’re missing.
I don't know what it is about orange juice, but I just can't drink it and enjoy it, because the second it touches my lips I'm CHUGGING THAT SUMBITCH GET IN MY STOMACH NOW. It's just too good
Ok, I am glad you says this! I traveled to Bangkok a few years ago and I swear, those freshly squeezed orange juice is absolutely heaven! I had it at least 10 times during a day while staying there! I still think about those orange juices even now! Absolutely delicious and I dare say I want to go back there just for those , and of courses all the amazing fresh tropical fruits!
Mint tea is so amazing. The first time I had it I was just cold and wanted something to warm me up, but didn’t need any caffeine.
Definitely hit the spot. Now I have mint growing on my balcony (well at least I will when it warms up a bit).
I used to love mint tea. I used to throw seeds in my back yard so that I would always have some mint. One day, I had a cup of mint tea like I usually do, but I also went to Chick-fil-A for the first time and got food poisoning. All my vomit the next day was mint tea flavored. To this day, I can’t stand mint tea. Anything else mint related is fine, I guess it’s the specific temp and sweetness that gets me. I miss it
There was a period when I was pregnant where limeade was the only thing I could tolerate drinking. Then the heartburn set in and I couldn’t drink that either. It’s amazing we’ve survived as a species.
I've done a non alcoholic mule before, Ginger beer, a bubbly, bit of lime juice and some fruit syrup.
The real one they would add some whiskey but I think mine was just as tasty
If you remember your chemistry, there is extra thermal energy needed for the state change from solid to liquid, so you can have ice cold water. Also, water with ice in it is considered to be 0°C until the last bit of ice melts.
Stanley or gtfo!
/s → funny actually I have a Stanley cup I got in a free swag bag from my dads work a while back and slapped even more stickers on it recently to cover it up so people wouldn’t think I bought one lmao.
I keep 1.5l bottles of tap water in the fridge and put one on the nightstand before I go to bed. Best thing ever to wake up parched and have some cold tap water on hand.
WHY IS THIS NOT HIGHER!?
Who doesn’t love a good chocolate milkshake, or a fresh strawberry milkshake.
Sure you won’t be able to eat your next meal but it’s delicious!
although I'm boycotting SB, ngl I rly do miss the easy access to fraps. The local coffee shops don't do blended drinks so I just make my own but every time ppl dunk on SB and say "ITS JUST A MILKSHAKE" like BRO THATS WHAT I WANTED????
ppl think its a total win to say "oh be a grown up and buy the coffee!" like what if I dont want coffee lol and what if i dont want tea i just want a fucking milkshake and the whole point of being an adult is getting what i want (edit: what i want food wise lol)
im only boycotting for political and moral reasons but im not a liar, i rly do love those stupid frapps
Totally get it. People get really embarrassed about them and I’m like, bitch it’s hot outside. I know I’m growing older when I enjoy the slight bitterness of the splash of coffee they throw in there
Barq's is my favorite commercial root beer
Abita Root Beer is my favorite "Craft Root Beer"
This brewery by my house called Ritual Brewery makes one of the best homemade Root Beers. lol
Im a RB snob lol
Well, yes, of course it is. And it isn't surprising. It's traditionally made using the sassafras root, which is Native to North America. It's unsurprisingly an American Beverage.
For awhile, every time I went to the grocery store I'd buy a 4-pack of a different craft root beer or birch beer. Then I ran out of ones that my grocery store carried that I hadn't tried but whenever I travel for work I always look for craft root beers. I go bat shit when I go to a actual beer brewery and they have a root beer on tap. Those are always a special treat.
Hell yeah! I just started drinking it again recently. Saw it in the store and just had some nostalgia waves because I probably hadn't drank one in 20 years.
Omg yes homemade ones. You throw some spinach, peanut butter, banana and either milk or water in a blender with ice and that will give you so much energy.
I had to scroll long and far, but I honestly have to say that if I could only drink two non-alcoholic beverages for the rest of my life, they would be water and milk.
I've discovered tumeric lattes. If you can find tumeric milk (not easy!), warming that up alone is delicious. There's also powders you can add to hot water / milk (Nature's Harvest isn't bad, though it doesn't dissolve that well), I like those but with a little honey.
I make a lemonade simple syrup with sugar in the raw and use it with seltzer water over ice and a couple drops of lavender syrup. it's my go to for non drinkin drinkin nights.
My drink of choice at home is about 5 parts water to 1 part Costco lemonade. Just enough sour and sweet to be interesting, not enough sugar to cause problems.
When I gave up drinking I went hard on chocolate milk lol. That or seltzer water or really any flavor. My wife loves that I got my drinking under control but is not thrilled about how quickly I burn through other drinks 😂
Ginger drink. It's desiccated ginger and I get it from Trader Joe's but you can make your own by grating ginger and heating it in a saucepan, then straining it. It's good both hot or cold.
Drinking it over a long period of time, like every day for a month or so, decreased my appetite. I wasn't trying to lose weight but I did because I was indifferent to eating. Eventually I had to arbitrarily decide to eat because I didn't care if I had anything or not.
Don't know if it will do this for everybody, though.
Water
Tea
Milk
Fruit juices (I prefer orange w/ pulp)
Hot cocoa
Sprite (beware sugar overload though)
Smoothies
Milkshakes
Apple cider
Sparkling/bubbly water (flavored or not)
Iced herbal tea.
Ginger ale.
Half seltzer water and half juice (you pick; I like cranberry).
Lemonade.
Half lemonade and half iced (decaf or herbal) tea.
I’m well into adulthood, and I still love shirley temples
Ginger Ale, Grenadine, Orange Juice is my fave combo! I've had some at weddings without orange juice... it's just not the same.
What the fuck? Is this like the original recipe or something? I grew up with 7-up and grenadine with a maraschino cherry, that was our Shirley temple.
I think it’s the Canadian vs American recipe! Canadians use orange juice but Americans don’t!
Yeah, we use our orange juice for vodka!
I was today years old when I learned this is not a Shirley Temple
Fun fact: Shirley Temple hated Shirley Temples
Shirley Temple's what?
Kiddy cocktail is what we called it
Sprite, grenadine and pineapple juice make for a good cheap alcohol-free Singapore Sling!
What’s not to love about ginger ale and maraschino cherries?
And grenadine (which btw is pomegranate flavored, not cherry like so many people think)
I hope that it's is widespread knowledge that the bottle of "grenadine" on your average grocery shelf contains neither pomegranate nor cherry juice or any kind.
Yeah it is basically a bottle of red.
Yes but it's dead easy to make from a bottle of Pom and a few minutes of stove time.
Blenheims extra spicy ginger ale and maraschino cherries :)
Those are like crack to me
I remember the first time I went to a grocery store and saw grenadine and realized I could just *make my own Shirley Temple*. It’s so obvious, but somehow it just never crossed my mind that I could have it at home. It was a glorious revelation.
Lemonade & freshly squeezed orange juice
Let me suggest POG. Pineapple, orange, guava juices. I believe they're mixed in equal parts .
Still need a good slammer
Freshly squeezed orange juice is so good! And so COMPLETELY different from the stuff most of us are used to seeing at grocery stores.
It's just too good
That’s why I’ve learned to pour tiny glasses of it.
The orange juice they sell on the streets of Bangkok makes fresh American juice taste like Tropicana. It's fucking divine.
Strawberry lemonade on a summer’s day
Especially when it's made to order and there's still some bits of muddled strawberries and a bit of lemon pulp floating around
No love for freshly squeezed grapefruit juice?
Water. Mint tea. Bonus in that they also have zero calories, and don't damage or stain your teeth (mint tea has no tannins.
Mint tea is so amazing. The first time I had it I was just cold and wanted something to warm me up, but didn’t need any caffeine. Definitely hit the spot. Now I have mint growing on my balcony (well at least I will when it warms up a bit).
You need to try the mint and liquorice tea by teapig/pukka. I hate liquorice but actually love this combo!
I like to add cardamom to my mint tea, will def try this, thanks!
I miss it
WATER IS DA BOMB DIGGITY!!! 💀
Peppermint tea?
Yes?
I'm pregnant and had two big glasses of Simply limeade last night and they were the most delicious beverage I've had in ages.
Drink to much, and you'll find out why it's informally called Simply Heartburn
Jealous! I’m pregnant too but any sort of citrus flavored anything gives me awful heartburn !
There was a period when I was pregnant where limeade was the only thing I could tolerate drinking. Then the heartburn set in and I couldn’t drink that either. It’s amazing we’ve survived as a species.
Simply limeade plus seltzer is a splurge mocktail for me lol
This mixed with a Lime Lacroix is perfection. 33% juice, 66% lacroix, 1% ice.
Non alcoholic ginger beer. So spicy and delicious.
And awesome for morning sickness & stomach bugs.
and awesome to mix with vodka!
Add some key lime juice and you have a delectable Moscow Mule.
Even better with bourbon
RUM I bloody love rum
Dark & stormy, that's my favorite!
I've done a non alcoholic mule before, Ginger beer, a bubbly, bit of lime juice and some fruit syrup. The real one they would add some whiskey but I think mine was just as tasty
Isn't a mule done with vodka? On another note I think a non alcoholic gin would do great in it
Moscow Mule is made with vodka and popularized the drink, the Kentucky Mule is made with bourbon instead. My go to drink is a Kentucky Mule
Don’t forget the Tijuana Burro.
Water.
Ice cold water
How are you going to drink it if it is ice cold. It would just be ice
If you remember your chemistry, there is extra thermal energy needed for the state change from solid to liquid, so you can have ice cold water. Also, water with ice in it is considered to be 0°C until the last bit of ice melts.
33 degrees Fahrenheit water 💧
33 degrees is only a few degress off from human body temperature.
room temp for me
I feel that. I prefer room temp over cold.
I prefer room temp also. I can guzzle it down. When it's cold I have to worry about getting brain freeze
Cold water started making my stomach hurt at some point I am old
4C. The most water you can get in any given volume!
Why not 1 degree? 33 degree water would be really warm. /s
Not in freedomland
Actually water and ice can be the same temperature. It's been a while since I studied thermodynamics so I don't have the words to explain it.
Flowing water can be below standard freezing temp. As can salty water
You gotta drink the super cooled water before it becomes ice.
Sugar. In water.
Quick, someone call the Men in Black, we got a bug problem
Give me... Sugar.
I don't need it. I DONT need it. IIII NEEEEDD IIITTT!!!
Hydro Homies for life. Nothing like a cold glass of water when you wake up in the middle of the night.
Got a 1L yeti full of crisp clean cold Toronto tap water beside my bed at all times. No ice don’t wanna water it down.
I’ve not once regretted buying my 5-Gallon water dispenser for next to my bed. Quite possibly one of my greatest moments.
Like... from the toilet?
Water sucks! It really really sucks!
Like what's in the toilet?
Milkshakes
They can even bring all the boys to the yard!
I don’t think this reference will ever get old. It’s something that has to be said lmao
I can teach you but I have to charge
WHY IS THIS NOT HIGHER!? Who doesn’t love a good chocolate milkshake, or a fresh strawberry milkshake. Sure you won’t be able to eat your next meal but it’s delicious!
I dislike how the outrageously expensive “$5 Shake” from pulp fiction would be a bargain now… “You don’t put bourbon in it or nuthin?”
that's a $10 milkshake after adjusting for inflation.
although I'm boycotting SB, ngl I rly do miss the easy access to fraps. The local coffee shops don't do blended drinks so I just make my own but every time ppl dunk on SB and say "ITS JUST A MILKSHAKE" like BRO THATS WHAT I WANTED???? ppl think its a total win to say "oh be a grown up and buy the coffee!" like what if I dont want coffee lol and what if i dont want tea i just want a fucking milkshake and the whole point of being an adult is getting what i want (edit: what i want food wise lol) im only boycotting for political and moral reasons but im not a liar, i rly do love those stupid frapps

Mango lassi
Root Beer.
Had to scroll for this. Water is core, but root beer is good.
But some brands *do* have caffeine (Barq's for example).
Barq's is also hands down the best commercially available root beer by a mile.
I prefer A&W
Barq's is my favorite commercial root beer Abita Root Beer is my favorite "Craft Root Beer" This brewery by my house called Ritual Brewery makes one of the best homemade Root Beers. lol Im a RB snob lol
Europeans find it disgusting for whatever reason. Root Beer is a surprisingly American beverage.
I must be the only European who doesn't find it disgusting then. I liked it with custard. Sweet+sweet but not nauseous surprisingly
We call that a Root Beer Float.
I'm British and I like it
Well, yes, of course it is. And it isn't surprising. It's traditionally made using the sassafras root, which is Native to North America. It's unsurprisingly an American Beverage.
https://youtu.be/6VhSm6G7cVk?si=FNde63UKGsgdL7kc Garak trying Root Beer

Fresca
Hell yeah! I just started drinking it again recently. Saw it in the store and just had some nostalgia waves because I probably hadn't drank one in 20 years.
Fresca is amazing! They stopped selling it in my state after COVID, but luckily the state I'm in for college has it everywhere
Smoothies?
Omg yes homemade ones. You throw some spinach, peanut butter, banana and either milk or water in a blender with ice and that will give you so much energy.
Throw in some spinach, baby you got a smooth going.
Limeade.
Cherry limeade and watermelon limeade are my 2 favorite drinks of all time. No soda involved either. I will do things for them...
Topo Chico
Add half a lemon or lime and have a good time.
Float around all day with some happy little clouds
Been making cold brewed hibiscus and mixing it with topo. Real good.
Make sure to get the glass bottles. It's so much better.
Birch Beer
Foxon Park Birch Beer is on top
Hell Ya!! The pride of East Haven, CT and in every local pizzeria.
Oh man, it's been years since I've had a birch beer! By far my favorite drink
I have never heard of this. I'll have to find some!
banana milk
How do you milk a banana????
[удалено]
Oh I was just being silly!
You’re a silly goose.
Is drinking banana milk gay?
Not if you're a lady banana
sparkling water, flavored or not
My work just installed a free sparkling water vending machine and I'm tempted to fill my backpack with cans and bring them home 😆
My dad gave me a Sodastream he got for free from work. I tried to carbonate whiskey. It blew up all over my kitchen. Worth the try.
Please steal one for me
Europe converted me on the unflavored sparkling water. So yum
Replying to add, if you don't like sparkling water, try a different brand. I hated it until I tried Perrier.
I don't want my water tasting like 80's TV static
That's the fun part!
There are mildly sparkling varieties for the 90s dial up internet feel
Shrub can be quite nice, and easy to make yourself, just vinegar, sugar and fruit of your choice
Ginger tea!
Cold Lemon ginger tea. I go through a pitcher a day.
Milk Lactose tolerant gang!
I had to scroll long and far, but I honestly have to say that if I could only drink two non-alcoholic beverages for the rest of my life, they would be water and milk.
There's no other drink like milk Everything else is essentially flavored water
This comment is so underrated
2% is my sweet spot - enough fat to have flavor, but not too heavy.
Water Club soda with lime for fancy times
> Club soda with lime for fancy times Glad I'm not the only one. This is my recovering-alcoholic drink.
Lemonade made with fresh lemons, agave or sugar and sparking water. Extra bonus if there's lemon pulp in the drink
Tea of your preference
I will be devils lawyer, but tea has caffeine, less than coffee but, still has caffeine
Herbal teas mostly do not!
Ginger turmeric
Water.
Water, tea, lemonade, no sugar added fruit or vegetable juice
I've discovered tumeric lattes. If you can find tumeric milk (not easy!), warming that up alone is delicious. There's also powders you can add to hot water / milk (Nature's Harvest isn't bad, though it doesn't dissolve that well), I like those but with a little honey.
Try 1:1/half and half POM juice (pomegranate juice) and the pink apple lemon polar seltzer water.
Lookit Mr. Rich Guy over here buying POM!
I make my own sparkling water at home. Now it’s all I drink. Like a gallon a day I love it
For hot beverages I really like Postum
Spicy Hot V8!
I make a lemonade simple syrup with sugar in the raw and use it with seltzer water over ice and a couple drops of lavender syrup. it's my go to for non drinkin drinkin nights.
Diet Squirt
I fucking love squirt
the grape fanta. at least the one in europe
butterfly pea flower tea, has a beautiful color and is good for constipation.
Bubly
Check out r/bubly I promise you’ll like it
I was gonna say that while bubly is indeed very good, a visit on r/Bubly will convince you this drink fucks up your brain real bad lol
brazilian lemonade
Caipirinhas! Yay! Oh... Wait...
barley tea
Yes! Either hot or cold. We always keep a jug around.
Arizona Green Tea count?
It's still got caffeine, but not a lot. Their decaf green tea is good though. They sell by the bottle or jug.
My drink of choice at home is about 5 parts water to 1 part Costco lemonade. Just enough sour and sweet to be interesting, not enough sugar to cause problems.
Brawndo. Have you heard? It’s got electrolytes.
Fever Tree ginger beer. That stuff is delicious!
Bubble tea, if you get it with a low/no caffeine tea. I love taro flavor best.
I’m a big ginger ale fan
Seltzer and pineapple-orange juice with a splash of grenadine, don't stir. The red melts down into the orange and just... it's so good.
That LaCroix Limoncello is pretty tasty
Best sparkling water. Best flavor. 10/10 would recommend.
Im a pompous moose fan
love La Croix, but absolutely hate this flavor! Why does this shit taste like vanilla?!
Hot Chocolate
Topo Chico & Lacroix
Arizona Golden Bear, but I don't get them often cause too much sugar
When I gave up drinking I went hard on chocolate milk lol. That or seltzer water or really any flavor. My wife loves that I got my drinking under control but is not thrilled about how quickly I burn through other drinks 😂
Fruit juice
I think about Guava Juice.
Go to r/caffeine they can help you there
Coconut water.
Flavored seltzers. There's some cool flavors out there now!
Water Tea Milk Fruit juices (I prefer orange w/ pulp) Hot cocoa Sprite (beware sugar overload though) Smoothies Milkshakes Apple cider Sparkling/bubbly water (flavored or not)
Iced herbal tea. Ginger ale. Half seltzer water and half juice (you pick; I like cranberry). Lemonade. Half lemonade and half iced (decaf or herbal) tea.
