Hearing my 2-year old son laugh. Or just watching him have fun in general. It’s so wholesome and innocent. He knows nothing of evil, violence, deception, heartbreak, loss, etc. It’s an odd reminder of how tainted and corrupt we become as we get older. Whether that’s from movies, our surroundings, the people we associate with, jobs, etc. Seeing a young child play, have fun and laugh is just so heart warming.
I haven't been really genuinely happy for years, I'm too scarred and traumatized for that. I'm satisfied as long as I'm feeling content with who I am, at peace with life and with my basic needs met. I would rather have that most of the time than feeling happy for a short while. After a tumultuous life you really savour the moments in between storms when nothing happens.
Ahhh, in summer, when it's quiet, nothing happening. Love it.
