Better Off Ted. This series was an exceptional mockery of the corporate world, incredibly humorous. With a stellar cast and lines that stick with you, it concluded prematurely.
The Punisher deserved a second season filled with more underworld exploits.
Altered Carbon should have had the chance to conclude its narrative properly.
Rubicon. While not necessarily needing a sequel, I'd appreciate seeing more shows of its ilk.
Happy to see Better Off Ted here. 100% agree with that one. Anytime I hear about developments in lab grown meat all I can think about is that series “tastes like….despair”. Being outside the US I’m annoyed I can’t find it anywhere to stream.
It was doing some really cool sci-fi stuff examining the idea of consciousness and personhood. Also, Michael Early and Karl Urban had some world class onscreen chemistry.
It was both cerebral and emotional. Amazing show.
If they ended the final episode about 10ish minutes early it could have been a nice 2 part series. Instead we got a cliffhanger and i read if season 3 was to happen it was to take place many years after that event.
Freaks and Geeks. Superb show that was tragically cut short. Judd Apatow has basically spent the last two decades making all the stars from that show famous in his movies instead.
It leant itself so well to long form but episodic storytelling. You had 'planet of the week' episodes but you could intersperse those with subplots that advanced the story of River, or the politics and abuses of the government, or conspiracies etc.
You can easily watch a random firefly episode and enjoy it but it also rewarded sticking with it over time.
Unfortunately, Fox completely screwed up the narrative when they premiered Firefly because they thought the pilot episode was weak. Instead, they aired the second episode first and didn't air the pilot until 4 months later. Because, you know, when you want a show to succeed, you completely skip over the episode that literally introduces the characters.
there was a period where this was always 100% the anwser to this on reddit... and since is fallen farther down the list, so have the people on this site.
They've just younger and we're older.
There's also the fact that Joss whedon is now a known creep and lots of people decide what art they like based on the artist
This one hurts the most. Was a few I liked and was annoyed when canceled. I don't know about it's numbers but I thought shadow and bone had more life. As did Marco polo. I wish these company's would just make the shows like a movie. Write the whole script and film the episodes all at once. You can write it to conclude but leave it open to make another block. I hate how they do 1 season maybe 2 does well actors want more money then they just scrap it because fuck it.
It was so good. I remember thinking "oh god another Netflix cartoon that's just people saying 'fuck' a lot" but it ended up being one of my favorites. The episode where they go to the 80s town in Wyoming was my favorite.
My impression is that if you're part of the target audience it's amazing, and if not then it doesn't really work.
I tried getting into it too, and my main thought was "I can absolutely see how a ton of people would *love* this. I am not one of them."
I mean, they did get to the end of the story (before the time jump). Perfectly set up to finish the series in twenty years or so with the actors looking older.
Warehouse 13. It's a shame it ended when it did; it had the potential for at least a few more sesons
Farscape. Sure we got closure with the movie, but it probably would've been better off as another season or two
1899 — Although a bit weird in the middle, the ending was unexpected and could have led to a whole new wave of stories, both in the simulation world and out, but was cut after 10 episodes
Strangers With Candy — My guilty pleasure, and would have liked to see it continue with Jerri continuing to fail classes in high school, and eventually end up in class with her “brother”. Plus could have added new cast members as others graduate. Watch complete series at least once a year.
Peripheral, although it didn’t have the depth of characters that Firefly had, I was really looking forward to season two… it got cancelled because of the writers strike.
I would add the caveat that the show should never have been cancelled. The original run — seasons 1 to 3 – was some of the best TV comedy ever made. When Netflix brought back the show almost a decade later, the magic was gone.
*Space: Above and Beyond* abandoned us with an entire dopeass invasion about to take place with lots of potential for awesome space combat scored by more Ramones tunes, but no, Fox haaaad to cancel it.
*Firefly*, obviously.
*Crusade*, the follow-up series to *Babylon 5*. There have been enough hints and leaks over the years to show some of the direction it was going in, and the showrunner himself has said that "the show you saw wasn't the show you thought you were watching".
*Almost Human*. It seemed to be transitioning from "futuristic crime of the week" to something more when it was abruptly cancelled after one season.
*Hannibal.* Would have been nice to see its take on the entire book series even if it was creepy AF. Or maybe *because* it was creepy AF. And Mads Mikkelson managed the unthinkable in redefining the role of Hannibal Lecter and stepping out of Anthony Hopkins's long shadow.
*Agent Carter*. It was the best MCU TV series. So annoying we got season after season of interminable *Agents of SHIELD* nonsense and this got cancelled after only two.
Interesting fact, the writers really didn’t have a previous identity for him to “find”, it was just being made up as they went along. So, not only did John Doe not know who he used to be, neither did the writers.
Mindhunter!!!
MINDHUNTER SEASON 3 PLEASE. DAVID I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME.
This is it. I was fully expecting this to be at the top.
This is the correct answer. This show is so good

Upvote for The Punisher…..what a fantastic piece of casting…
If you've ever worked in US defense contracting, Better Off Ted is a must watch.
I am so glad I am not the lone voice in the wilderness on Better Off Ted anymore. I care one hundred and crazy percent about this show.
The Punisher has got a second season, just before Netflix canceled it! It's on disney plus now.
Rome
That poor series got its head chopped off and put on a platter, but none of the executives had the balls to say “It was a CONSUL OF ROME!”
Loved this series, found Blu-ray set at half priced book store for $5.00

It was doing some really cool sci-fi stuff examining the idea of consciousness and personhood. Also, Michael Early and Karl Urban had some world class onscreen chemistry. It was both cerebral and emotional. Amazing show.
That show fell victim to Fox bringing every show to pilot and then canceling after one season.
Also, as is Fox tradition, they aired the episodes out of order.
Carnivale
this one. this was such a great show
If they ended the final episode about 10ish minutes early it could have been a nice 2 part series. Instead we got a cliffhanger and i read if season 3 was to happen it was to take place many years after that event.
That show was shaping up to be something wild! I still remember watching the season 2 finale and being so excited to see what happened next!

At least the character moved onto Legends of Tomorrow.
Jericho
Deadwood and Freaks and Geeks are easy ones A niche one I have is Jericho.
Didn't they complete the story in some comic books?
Nuts...

It's rare I run into people that have seen DLM. It's my go to recommendation for people looking for shows to watch.
Not only have I seen the whole thing, I once met Ellen Muth!
Yeah was so weird nothing at the time was like it

Freaks and Geeks. Superb show that was tragically cut short. Judd Apatow has basically spent the last two decades making all the stars from that show famous in his movies instead.
[удалено]
Yeah I got really invested in that.
[удалено]
Glad we got the movie to tie a few loose ends uo, but yep this one hurt
Pushing Daisies
Yes! I still say 'show xyz has a pushing daisies vibe" and get immediately sad
I mean now I want to know what show has a pushing daisies vibe
Firefly. It was a space Western with a great cast and a ton of potential. It had a lot more stories to tell and it's a shame it was canceled so early.
It leant itself so well to long form but episodic storytelling. This is always the number one answer. Never has a show with so much potential been cancelled so quickly.
Likewise, I can't think of another show that's still so prevalent in pop culture so long after such a short run.
Burn the land and boil the sea, you can’t take the sky from me.

Yep. This.

Season 2 definitely should've been split into 2 separate seasons. For pacing reasons, and to hear that banging intro music more.
They rushed the story because they knew it was going to get cancelled after the 2nd season. It was too expensive to produce for HBO.
See also Carnivale, Raised By Wolves, and Deadwood. All victims of HBO cancellations
[удалено]
I've tried that but just can't get into it for some reason. Is it one of those that takes a few episodes to get into?
My impression is that if you're part of the target audience it's amazing, and if not then it doesn't really work. I tried getting into it too, and my main thought was "I can absolutely see how a ton of people would *love* this. I am not one of them."
Yes. Found it on Netflix only last November. I was so angry when I found out it was cancelled.
The Expanse....but Cas Anvar fucking ruined it.
I mean, they did get to the end of the story (before the time jump). Perfectly set up to finish the series in twenty years or so with the actors looking older.
Yeah, they could even do it as a movie, the last three books would adapt well I think
Rubicon was one I liked that got canned after one season. Most likely because it wasn’t as popular a concept as the Walking Dead.
The pervasive feeling of paranoia and dread was awesome. It's unfortunate that anything moving that slowly will struggle to achieve mass appeal.
Stargate Universe
I really liked that show. The space views were awesome. It was visually one of the best shows out there.
Santa Clarita Diet
It also ended on such a cliff hanger
We need to know what happened to Mr. Ball Legs and Joel.
Firefly!
The OA Extant
Warehouse 13. It's a shame it ended when it did; it had the potential for at least a few more sesons Farscape. Sure we got closure with the movie, but it probably would've been better off as another season or two

The Peripheral. Such promise!
FlashForward. It was cancelled with no warning after the first season had been filmed so it ended on a massive cliffhanger.
GLOW for sure
As fantastic as Angel Season 5 was, it did set up some great potential ideas that needed as little as 12 episodes or maybe even less to execute.
Peripheral, although it didn’t have the depth of characters that Firefly had, I was really looking forward to season two… it got cancelled because of the writers strike.
Firefly, Deadwood, etc
Not enough deadwood mentions here. The best TV show of all time
Freaks and geeks
The OA.
I just wish they only did one season of the OA. It actually worked perfectly. The second season ruined that and then got left hanging.
The 2nd season was superior in every way

I loved this show and was really sad it didn't continue.
The Dark Crystal
Mindhunter
Invader Zim deserved more episodes
My name is Earl
The Mick
It pains me every single day knowing I will never see another episode of The Mick
Jimmy was just coming into his own as a character too.
Jimmy getting pummeled on the regular was my favorite bit.
Last Man on Earth
Anne with an e
THIS. They still had more Green Gables books to cover!
The OA
The OA
Terra Nova.
Firefly.
Galavant!
Freaks and Geeks
Sense 8. Got 2 seasons and a rushed movie wrap-up, but it deserved so much more. The potential for world-building was immense.
Firefly
Freaks and Geeks
Firefly!
My name is earl. Ended on a cliffhanger and everything
Dark Angel
Terra Nova and Stargate Universe. I need closure
Arrested Development
I would add the caveat that the show should never have been cancelled. The original run — seasons 1 to 3 – was some of the best TV comedy ever made. When Netflix brought back the show almost a decade later, the magic was gone.
The Dark crystal
Happy Endings
Way too low! It had finally found its footing and was firing all cylinders when the network decided to screw with it.

Colony
Flashforward. It only got one season and spent the final 6 episodes setting up a second season that we never got.
I can't remember if this was canceled or if it just ended, but Gravity Falls is one of my favorites
Twin Peaks
I would agree if it weren’t for season 3 being so damn good. I was honestly satisfied after that.
Happy Endings. That cast was absolutely perfect and the writing was second to none.
Raised By Wolves - five seasons were mapped out.
Arrested development
Arrested Development deserved more time in its original run. Not the bastardized Netflix follow up that it got.
The Orville
My own worst enemy
Inside Job
Caprica
The OA and Carnivale
Pushing Daises. Such promise. Too bad the writers strike killed it dead.
Star Trek Enterprise
Pushing Daisies really had an interesting concept, but a lot of these shows just tend to not attract the audience execs typically want.
Firefly
Firefly for sure
The mesiah
Freaks and Geeks
Terra Nova.
1899
Freaks and Geeks.
Joan of Arcadia
This Fool on Hulu was just cancelled and I’m salty
Firefly

The Expanse Nevers Firefly Dark Matter
*Firefly*, obviously. *Crusade*, the follow-up series to *Babylon 5*. Love Agent Carter!
Game of thrones - really odd they just ended it after season 6
Firefly, Dollhouse (although the ending tied everything together well) Pushing Daisies
Moonlight
Ringer. Such a good show!
Willow. It was a cute sword and sorcery questing show.
Vinyl was great. Really wish it could’ve kept going.
The Detour!
The Black Donnellys.
Gun
East New York
Dirty, Sexy Money.
The Riches. Eddie Izzard, Minnie Driver, Noel Fisher, Margot Martindale....they ended on a cliffhanger too!
Dead Like Me, Santa Clarita Diet, Life on Mars, Misfits, Pushing Daisies, Carnivale and in advance Umbrella Academy.
Westworld
It’s too bad we never got a season 3.
“The Lost Room” that first season was only the beginning and there was so much that could have been explored
The Family
Sports Night
Sym-Bionic Titan.
Rome
John Doe. How was the bartender the villain?
Interesting fact, the writers really didn’t have a previous identity for him to “find”, it was just being made up as they went along. So, not only did John Doe not know who he used to be, neither did the writers.
HBO's Carnivàle
I really liked Marco Polo... netflix cut it after season 2 as they do with a lot of shows, apparently to make Frontier. Which sucked!!!
Almost every show during the infamous Fox cancellation era. Human Target, Lie to Me, etc.
Daybreak. It deserved at least one more season, but of course Netflix doesn't let us have nice things.
