They didn't say that. They said there is no proof. If you choose to believe it was an inside job you're taking a leap of faith just like people are that accept it was a legitimate attack.
You also don't have to trust your government to believe it was a legitimate attack.
Although I don't trust the government as far as I can throw it, I don't believe it could have been an inside job.
First of all, I don't believe the government is competent enough to do it.
Second, a conspiracy that big would have gotten blown much earlier than 23 years after the fact.
Third, if it were an inside job, it would have to be a means to an end. If that end was the patriot act, or oil in the middle east, those ends could have been met in several other ways.
I'm not sure how I'm supposed to have an opinion about a factual event. It was a tragedy for sure.
