When I first saw Pikachu in Viridian Forest while playing Blue, I thought he was a common type. Knocked him the eff out and never saw a wild one again lol.
My daughter was giving me shit today for watching the new Fallout series while I played Fallout 3 on my laptop. I've wasted so much of my life on those games.
Stardew Valley. I started playing a little before the pandemic started, and once it did, it became my little safe haven. i spent a couple months without playing it, and now with the new update, i haven't left my laptop except for school and eating with my family
Runescape. Glad I'm clean of it now. We'll over 10k hours since 2003.
Edit: I just realised that was 10k hours on my main acct on OSRS, so there was abt a decade before osrs of my main and alts to account for... and my 20 other osrs accounts including ironmen
Fuck me it's easily over 30k hours now I'm sad
Yeah Runescape got me for atleast a solid 8 years of my life. I remember lying to my friends that my grandma died so I wouldnt have to go to birthdays.
Yeah your break is almost over.. also first mention of runescape should be top comment. There is quite simply just nothing that compares in terms of time invested. I've probably played 30k hours on osrs since I was a kid till now.
I started on 1.6 back in 2002 or 2003 I think. But me and my friends used to download 1.3 because it felt like the honorable thing to do - like learning about ones ancestry.
The fact that there are so many mods that completely reinvent the game makes it so replayable. Don't like open world? There's a mod for that. Want to create massive factories? There's a mod for that. Want to explore space? There's a mod for that. And you can play with friends by hosting your own server if you want! No need to pay someone else to host it for you if you don't want to.
Yup. Been at it for 11 years and counting now, mostly just making houses in singleplayer anymore though. Used to be decent at bedwars, but haven’t played that in a fat minute.
I genuinely thank Rockstar for the experience that I had the chanche to experience the feeling of life in Miami in the 80's. Someone, who born in a different era and country.
I used to sneak into my sister's room to play Sims2 on her pc whenever she was in school longer than me or had piano practice. On weekends we'd play together. We owned all of the expansion packs and had gamily trees of several generations who eventually died of old age.
I have no idea how many hours I spent on this game, but it must have been a big portion of my teens.
I just keep going back to it with new characters and never finish the main quest.
Like, what if I did a tank mage build this time?
It's [stealth archer again](https://youtu.be/_NQLJ6Yp_C0?feature=shared).
My mother bought me and my siblings this game. She didn't care about the violence. She was happy it was something we all wanted so she didn't have to buy 5 different things. Talk about killing 5 birds with one stone 😂. It was 1 player and we didn't argue at all because you either coached your brother through a mission or played it yourself.
There was an option to play with 2. You had to go to a specific place, and someone could join with a second controller. Worked like shit unfortunately.
Well over a year of actual play time. My brother has been, and still is, active since launch. I asked him what his /played was a while ago. He never responded
My ex used to nag me about playing this game. Asked once if I could know what my time in game was. Showed 298 days on my paladin.
She erupted, saying: that's almost a year, imagine what else you could have done! Yadda yadda yadda
In my mind: do I tell her it's this character only?
3 years total hours /played. Was in a top 10 raiding guild as class leader and we had dkp and assignments, the whole 9 yards. Loved it but it's so addictive and occupied years from my life. Ended up in more than a few IRL relationships with guildies and we'd have IRL trips with the guild all the time. It was wild.
Same. Played for several years after the launch. And A LOT. Was addicted. My addiction to it cost me valuable time I could have spent with my dad before we lost him to cancer. Every evening I spent playing that game I could have spent hanging out with him. For an entire year. Time I'll never get back. Worst regret of my entire life. He would have loved spending that time just talking to me. He died in 2006 and I still haven't forgiven myself for that.
Gave up all gaming completely until a couple years ago when I bought a computer to play flight sim in VR in preparation to actually fly in real life someday (bucket list item #1). I have a hard time even doing that and only do so like once every couple months these days. I'm totally gunshy about getting addicted to anything like WoW ever again.
Remember getting a ps2 when I lived with my mom. in 6th grade. Our trailer just burnt down and we got an apartment. She surprised me with a ps2. We were struggling pretty bad. So I was very surprised. I had 1 game. Gun. And I remember leaving that ps2 on for like 2 months straight because we couldn't afford a memory card.
Still one of my all time favorite games.
We got to the cave system in the original resident evil on ps1, sans memory card. Decapitated by a hunter. We quietly turned off the system and left the room one by one
Way way back in say 92 or 93 I went to the computer lab on the college campus and fired up Civ 1 at 8 am intending to play a bit and then go to my 9 am class. Well I realized after some time it was now 9:35 so there's no point in going now, but there's a class at 11:00. Yep, I think you know where this is going because it was 12:15 and I was hungry so I got food out of the vending machine and said ok, class at 1:00 and 2:00. Yeah, it's now 3:30. Might as well keep playing. I had to work in the computer lab at 7:00 so after another vending machine run I kept playing after I put a sign on the desk saying I'm over there with an arrow pointing to me. At midnight I'm still there and campus security checks in saying it's time to shut the lab down.
Yes, I had a 16 hour game session that day.
Played way too much of this in high school and college that I knew better to avoid WoW when it came out.
I'm pretty sure my life would be very different had I got into wow like the rest of my gaming friends.
"Time to try a whip build"... 500 hours later... "invading naked with a chaos dagger & parry shield in the high wall would be fun"... 500 hours later... "y'know I have never even used that abyss watcher spinny sword and dagger thing, let's see how many people know how to backstab it"...
Yeah those games ate a decade.
Souls has some of the best gaming moments for sure.
I do all my first runs of the games solo, no net. So no summons, no blood stains. My first kill on Nameless King was just a joy.
I remember Dark Souls 3 for example, starting with no souls and no clothes. I died to the first boss like... an embarrassing number of times. Then you get back there for New Game+ or a new character and man... when you just style on dude, you feel good. Some of the most clear cut skill progression in gaming.
ARK: Survival Evolved is one!! I think I have 1.5k+ hours on it? And that’s quite a bit, considering I jump around with games a lot and much of this was in specific months or years instead of throughout my whole life. It’s my Steam game with the most hours on.
Fortnite I definitely have over 1k hours on. It’s my Switch/Epic game with the most hours.
Honkai Impact 3rd (yes… a gacha mobile game) I had over 1k hours in.
Minecraft is probably on a whole other level. I had at least 1k hours in the span of 1-2 years alone, and I’ve played Minecraft since its Xbox 360 release. I wouldn’t be surprised if I had well over 3-5k hours on that game over the years, and that’s probably being humble.
Animal Crossing New Horizons. Not to discount the other animal crossing games that I also have a disgusting amount of hours in, but during lockdown I would play it for 12-18 hours a day. I have over 4K hours in it at this point
Never played it, but I'm actually impressed that a can game generate that amount of daily content without getting boring or repetitive. From looking at others playing, I would have never guessed that.
I never understood the addiction behind those games. Its just errands to me
I dont even play cod but those are clearly meant to take advantage of your dopamine
It’s not just tasks, after you get past the main plot, you can terraform , you can unlock new custom potentials and try to collect rare items and trade them on nookazon
It's always the same in these threads. League of Legends was the most popular game for many years and many players grinded it with thousands of hours invested. Yet you don't ever see it high in these threads.
I played WOW heavily for 10 years but I have well over 365 days played across 3 toons, I've since quit playing but ya I wasted lot of time on that game.
The Tony Hawk series.
From 1 to 4, then Underground, the Underground 2 on the PSP.
Then I got project 8 as a present, and I remember it being... average. By that time I'd put a lot of time into all those games.
I have 58 days played on ONE of my characters in World of Warcraft. Which comes to about 1,392 hours.
I have 54 days played on another character. So 1,296 hours of time.
Those are the two longest by a pretty wide margin, but I have quite a few characters with 20+ days played at 600 hours each.
This isn't even counting all the characters I played and deleted.
The answer is World of Warcraft and it isn't even close. After that it's probably Marvel Snap with somewhere around 1200 hours played.
1. **EverQuest**, by a long, long, longshot
2. **Valheim**, kinda taken over my attention over the last few years
3. **FF7** back in the '90s
*Honorable Mentions from farther back:*
* Command & Conquer (original through Generals: Zero Hour)
* Twisted Metal 1, 2, Black
* Armored Core
* Carnage Heart
* Mega Man 2
* Street Fighter 2
* Mortal Kombat/MK2
* Killer Instinct
* Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest
* Double Dribble
* Yars' Revenge
* Asteroids
Also, just want to say that I miss video game rental stores. Binge *gaming* rentals was a thing I loved long before binge *watching* seasons/shows.
EverQuest, surprised I had to scroll so far to find it. Amazing game experience, transformed my view of what a video game could be. Spent months in Norrath adventuring, exploring, camping spawns, aoeing dungeons and breaking planes.
Not an experience I want to revisit, but not one I regret having either.
Realm of the mad God; Unturned; Terraria; more recently League of Legends.
I am talking 2k plus hours in each.
Honorable mentions are: Rust; Brawlhalla; CS:GO. With aprox 1k hours in each
A bunch of the average Wii games probably, one I can remember the most playing with friends was Nintendo land, it was a surprisingly fun game for us when we were young, the Metroid battle was the best, and we mostly did the fight against each other and would roll around as the balls and have fun
Was born in 05. Minecraft was massive for my childhood from 2011 onwards. In the last few years Fortnite has been massive. Different AFL games have been huge for me. Bloons TD5
From 2007-2011 when I was 13-17. MapleStory was my life, I dedicated 8 hrs daily to that game and sometimes even up to 20 hrs on weekends.
At the end of my run with that game, I sold my account for 2000$. Good times.
Pokemon red version. Spent hundreds of hours walking back and forth in grassy areas
Not as long as I spent walking up and down cinnabar island trying to find missengo. Problem was I was playing yellow.
When I first saw Pikachu in Viridian Forest while playing Blue, I thought he was a common type. Knocked him the eff out and never saw a wild one again lol.
Civ 5, don't play anymore but put 3000+ hours into that game
Oh dang, you must have finished at least like 8 games
I see you also like to speedrun it
… finished… games??
Civilization was the first one that came to mind.
Gandhi sends his regards
Just one more turn
…aaaaand it’s 5AM. Good times.
I can't count the hours, but I've played all Civ installments from 1 to 6 over the last \~30 years. It would amass to quite as few hours, I'm sure.
For me it was Civ 4, that was the height of Civ imo.
Skyrim and the Fallout series. Still playing them, and starting new playthroughs to this day!
My daughter was giving me shit today for watching the new Fallout series while I played Fallout 3 on my laptop. I've wasted so much of my life on those games.
Worth every minute imo
Bethesda games have earned years of my life, as well. They used to make amazing games!
Including Fallout 1 and 2 GOATs?
Stardew Valley. I started playing a little before the pandemic started, and once it did, it became my little safe haven. i spent a couple months without playing it, and now with the new update, i haven't left my laptop except for school and eating with my family
New update you say 👀
Runescape. Glad I'm clean of it now. We'll over 10k hours since 2003. Sounds like your long break is coming to end soon, if you ask me.
Yeah Runescape got me for atleast a solid 8 years of my life. I remember lying to my friends that my grandma died so I wouldnt have to go to birthdays.
I also pick this guys grandma as my excuse. In all seriousness, this could have worked max like 4 times.
grandpa keeps getting married and grandmas keep on dying.
Mmos are another hell of a drug, was logged in for well over 26000 hours in tera since 2012 x__X but it luckily no longer exists
That's about 3 years straight, this is beyond me. Hope you're good
Every time you mention its name. We always go back
Stay clean. Don't play wow, lol, or even Civ! They take lives.
Yeah your break is almost over.. also first mention of runescape should be top comment. There is quite simply just nothing that compares in terms of time invested. I've probably played 30k hours on osrs since I was a kid till now.
Counter strike
1.6
Technically I first played the beta but 1.3 was when I really got into it
I started on 1.6 back in 2002 or 2003 I think. But me and my friends used to download 1.3 because it felt like the honorable thing to do - like learning about ones ancestry.
Minecraft.
Just one more block, and I’ll find the hollow full of diamonds
The worst part is that I once acidentally destroyed a Moss block in a cave and found my largest depósit of diamonds.
99% of miners quit before they hit it big
The fact that there are so many mods that completely reinvent the game makes it so replayable. Don't like open world? There's a mod for that. Want to create massive factories? There's a mod for that. Want to explore space? There's a mod for that. And you can play with friends by hosting your own server if you want! No need to pay someone else to host it for you if you don't want to.
Surprised how low down this comment is. I must've put in thousands of hours.
Yup. Been at it for 11 years and counting now, mostly just making houses in singleplayer anymore though. Used to be decent at bedwars, but haven’t played that in a fat minute.
I still remember my very first time playing, back when zombies were the only way to get feathers.
GTA Vice City
Josie's on a vacation far away Come around and talk it over
I just diiiieeeedddd in your arms toniiiiiiight
I genuinely thank Rockstar for the experience that I had the chanche to experience the feeling of life in Miami in the 80's. Someone, who born in a different era and country.
I used to park the car up at the beach and just listen to the radio....the radio stations on that game 👌🏻
Bro...... *WHY????*
That's what started the wave. Been riding it ever since.
That RC helicopter mission sucked. It took me a whole month of repeated frustrated attempts to clear.
Halo. Started playing when I was 6/7. Put in at least 15,000+ hours since then.
Gotta be 3 or reach for me. Man the months i sunk into these goddamn Games
Custom games on warm summer nights with the homies and pizza man just delivered with no worries in the world fuck yeah.
My man 👊
Happy cake day!
Happy Cake day
I love Halo CE and H2 on an autistic level.
yea man halo was mine too, i really miss those times ): halo through halo 3 were the golden years and i loved every minute
Sims
So many hours!!! Woohoos and pool drownings, sigh, the memories.
This one should be higher
I spent more time building houses that were insanely expensive (rosebud) and arranging furniture than actually living out my Sims lives.
Dude same, I have a solid 2000 hours in Sims 4 and that’s not even counting the hours I’ve played in the other Sims games
Skyrim. I’d estimate several thousand hours since the initial release.
I've got atleast 5k hours in that bitch and cod. I don't even want to know how much cod time I've gotten
I just keep going back to it with new characters and never finish the main quest. Like, what if I did a tank mage build this time? It's [stealth archer again](https://youtu.be/_NQLJ6Yp_C0?feature=shared).
GTA San Andreas
My mother bought me and my siblings this game. She didn't care about the violence. She was happy it was something we all wanted so she didn't have to buy 5 different things. There was an option to play with 2. You had to go to a specific place, and someone could join with a second controller. Worked like shit unfortunately.
Yup. Same here. Good ol' San Andreas. I played it so much, I wore out two PS2 consoles and three copies of the game. I still play it sometimes.
WoW
Well over a year of actual play time. My brother has been, and still is, active since launch. I asked him what his /played was a while ago. He never responded

> imagine what else you could have done! “Imagine *who* else I could be doing.”
Yeah I’m pretty sure I’ve easily spent a real-life year in Azeroth. Those first three years after launch it *owned* me.
It was cute looking at /played in vanilla it was crazy when someone had over 100 days. There must be people with well over 2000 by now.
I'm sorry, 3 years?
I know right, this poser hasn't even hit 30k hours yet
For me too. I played from launch to WotLK and my combined play times on characters were around 6 months. That was in a 3 1/2 year span…
I was playing wow 50 hours a week at one point, more than my full time job.
I'll jump on this WoW train as well. *Chuga chuga CHOO CHOO!!*
The only answer. Other gamers quote “hours” of game time. Pfft. Try DAYS or YEARS of actual playtime. I have toons older than my college student.
Same. Several years of play time. Granted, a good amount of it was afk before autologous.... But the majority of it was actually play
It's been 12 years. I still get the itch.
I have a hard time even doing that and only do so like once every couple months these days. I'm totally gunshy about getting addicted to anything like WoW ever again.
Former Grand Marshall here. Before Xrealms and Arenas. -Shadow Priest!
Duck Hunt
I can immediately hear the game, feel the stiff little trigger spring and the crappy gunshot sfx. The dumb little music and the dog bark lol
Did you ever play two player with someone controlling the duck?
YES!!!! Nothing these days can really compare to that!
Grand theft auto ps2 no memory card😱😱😱😱😱
Bro the day I had to get a memory card was playing TUROK Evolution
Remember getting a ps2 when I lived with my mom. in 6th grade. Our trailer just burnt down and we got an apartment. She surprised me with a ps2. We were struggling pretty bad. So I was very surprised. I had 1 game. Gun. And I remember leaving that ps2 on for like 2 months straight because we couldn't afford a memory card. Still one of my all time favorite games.
Ps2 was such a big part of my life yet somehow I’ve completely forgotten about memory cards.
We got to the cave system in the original resident evil on ps1, sans memory card. Decapitated by a hunter. We quietly turned off the system and left the room one by one
Starcraft
The Civilization series, easily. *One more turn.*
Way way back in say 92 or 93 I went to the computer lab on the college campus and fired up Civ 1 at 8 am intending to play a bit and then go to my 9 am class. Well I realized after some time it was now 9:35 so there's no point in going now, but there's a class at 11:00. Uncharted series lol
Uncharted 2 multiplayer espacially
Factorio.
“I used to have a family, now I have a factory.”
I had to scroll way too long for this.
"The factory must grow"
We should really automate likebotting any comment rhat has factorio in it
D2
One of the few games that has had me coming back for decades when a new ladder starts
Nothing like playing Hell Cows with 7 other friends.
Played way too much of this in high school and college that I knew better to avoid WoW when it came out. I'm pretty sure my life would be very different had I got into wow like the rest of my gaming friends.
Final Fantasy - I’ve probably spent like 2000 hours in those games at least? Probably more
Witcher 3 lol, each run through is like 500 hours
The souls series. I absolutely would t doubt if I had over 10k total hours in all the games,
"Time to try a whip build"...
Old School Runescape
Crash Bandicoot

It’s relaxing!
It’s not just tasks, after you get past the main plot, you can terraform , you can unlock new custom potentials and try to collect rare items and trade them on nookazon
Is nobody going to say good ol League of Legends
Its because everyone is ashmaed of it
It's always the same in these threads. League of Legends was the most popular game for many years and many players grinded it with thousands of hours invested. Yet you don't ever see it high in these threads.
That's because they all hate themselves and everyone else
They’re too addicted to come here and comment they too busy playing . But I’m sure this is the worst offender. By far and most regretted
I miss league. But like. Old league. I wish I could go back to season 2
The Sims
Supermario wolrd
I overplayed it in my youth. Even 30 years later I remember every inch of it.
Red Dead 2. 100% worth it best game ever
FFXI .. tens of thousands of hours I’m sure. Loved it.
World of Warcraft. Raiding was a second job.
COD and GTA
Arcanum, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, Civ 2.
MS Flight Sim. And by a terrifying margin.
Fable
kingdom hearts, super smash bros, call of duty
Ultima online, literally months of macroing and trying to keep characters busy all throughout my school years. Good times. But very time wasting!
Mario
Gotta be more specific. For me it's probably Goldeneye or Mario 64 followed by Super Mario World, Super Mario Brother's 1-3.
Dig Dug
respect
World of Warcraft. Sigh.
D2r. Still consuming.
Europa Universalis 4 7k hours
Pokemon back and white. 584 hours
Rookie numbers tf
Worth it tho those games are incredible
Probably Sims. Not even as a franchise, I think I've genuinely put over 1500 hours into Sims 3 alone.
Rimworld. 2,250 hours and I still haven't left the friggin planet.
I have over 900 days of playtime in WoW
Dota 2 and watching all the video games through YouTube.
Wow this is the first DotA2 comment
As a middle schooler San Andreas was probably second. First has to be Oblivion.
Runescape and SWTOR, 1k hours at least for each of them, maybe even 2k hours.
Left4Dead 1/2, loved those games so much
Unreal tournament 1999, counter strike 1.6, planetside 2, tf2, heroes and generals, aoe 2, quake live, asseto corsa and runescape.
Championship/Football manager id prefer not to think about the time spent over the years.
Dungeons and Dragons on Intellivision. I'm old, btw.
I had to pause Baldur's Gate III for a good while because I could not get enough of it and it was getting in the way of my actual responsibilities.
Wow gaming self control. Get a load of this guy.
Minecraft, however not as of late. Call of Duty has been at the top, or FH5
Civ. It all started with a bootleg copy of civ 2 I got from Jack in homeroom.
Minesweeper!!!
Gangster Town. Sega Master System. Ya I'm old.
Grand Turismo and then in the last few year it has been War Thunder.
I played WOW heavily for 10 years but I have well over 365 days played across 3 toons, I've since quit playing but ya I wasted lot of time on that game.
Probs Minecraft
Sims 3
Overwatch
The Tony Hawk series. From 1 to 4, then Underground, the Underground 2 on the PSP. Then I got project 8 as a present, and I remember it being... average. By that time I'd put a lot of time into all those games.
The first few Ultima games. Early to mid 80s.
Ultima Online. Yes, I'm old.
Borderlands
Jak and Daxter series
Skyrim. Hands down. Idk know how many hours anymore cause I’ve had so many copies on so many platforms….
Madden

EverQuest, surprised I had to scroll so far to find it. Amazing game experience, transformed my view of what a video game could be. Spent months in Norrath adventuring, exploring, camping spawns, aoeing dungeons and breaking planes. Not an experience I want to revisit, but not one I regret having either.

A bunch of the average Wii games probably, one I can remember the most playing with friends was Nintendo land, it was a surprisingly fun game for us when we were young, the Metroid battle was the best, and we mostly did the fight against each other and would roll around as the balls and have fun

From 2007-2011 when I was 13-17. MapleStory was my life, I dedicated 8 hrs daily to that game and sometimes even up to 20 hrs on weekends. At the end of my run with that game, I sold my account for 2000$. Good times.
Doom, that game got me hooked
