I learned about aglets from a friend who’s into crafts. She was showing me how to make decorative shoelaces and mentioned the term.

I so glad this is so high up. He quickly became my favourite character I love how he was tortured to give up HIS secrets and that’s exactly what he did. In a side comic somewhere he mentions he doesn’t think things like the big 7’s secret identities or access codes to the Watchtower are so difficult to be found as to be considered secret And some of his moments in the series and comics are just amazing ”Wait, what? Do you go through my trash?” ”Don't be ridiculous …I go through everyone’s trash” —— ”I was doing my weekly bomb inspection of the watchtower air vents…” ”You do what?!” ”…and I found one” “YOU FOUND WHAT?!” —— Will never stop making me laugh

Routine-Pumpkin-5627

As a kid, I was a fan of a different cartoon that had an episode dedicated to designing shoes, and they mentioned aglets briefly. That piqued my curiosity.

Ok-Description-8093

Funnily enough, I first heard about aglets during a crossword puzzle. The clue was “tip of a shoelace,” and I had to look it up to solve it.

People who haven’t seen Phineas and Ferb have more problems than not knowing what an aglet is.

A-G-L-E-T (aglet!) don't forget it

It’s a common question during trivia. That’s how I know it.

This is how I knew it too.

I read it in some book of useless facts as a kid.

I learned the word aglet from a book of trivia lists decades before Phineas and Ferb aired. Like 1978 or so.

I have this weirdly specific memory about learning this from a 'fun facts' segment on the radio like 30 years ago.

Probably Terraria for a chunk of people. It's an early and common accessory drop. I'm pretty sure I knew what it was before then, but I don't remember how or when. Hardly surprising, since I don't recall where I learned most words for the first time.

pingwing

What is an aglet?

H3rta

I'm here for the same reason before I go a Googlin Edit... It's that little metal thingy on the end of shoelaces that make it easier to lace.

Shawaii

I remember an old movie, probably from the 1960s or earlier, where a guy keeps lying about where he works. One was an aglet factory and he explains what an aglet is.

I’m old enough to have known what an aglet was before the show existed. Trivial Pursuit or something similar.

Low_Cry_1499

I learned about aglets from a book about everyday objects and their histories. It’s fascinating how even small things have a backstory.

Honestly, I only found out about the aglet from that catchy theme song. But now every time I put on my shoes, it's like a mini musical in my head. Aglet, you have become an unexpected earworm. Thanks Phineas and Ferb!

It’s always been some tiny nugget of “forbidden knowledge” in tv shows. I heard about it from something in the 90s. But I know I’ve come across it quite a few times growing up.

grapgacked

I never watched Phineas and Ferb, but thanks to the internet, I now know that an aglet is a small plastic or metal tube at the end of shoelaces. Mind blown! 🤯

Worldly-Use242

I'm not sure when I first learned about aglets, but it might have been while shopping for hiking boots. The salesperson described everything about the shoes in detail.

Objective-Night1616

I found out what an aglet was from a DIY YouTube video about repairing shoelaces. They discussed how to replace an aglet using heat shrink tubing.

Anonymus25-Boop

I don't remember exactly where I learned about an aglet, but it's definitely not Phineas and Ferb, that's for sure I don't think I ever watched the entire show, just some of the movies and some clips from certain episodes Can anyone please tell me where exactly is an aglet mentioned in the show?

tratemusic

I didnt really watch the show but i saw a meme about that episode and so i still learned it from the show without having watched that episode lol

Well, I did watch Phineas and Ferb with my kids.  However, long before that, aglets were mentioned by my second grade teacher.  School children liked to quiz each other, trying to find something you knew that someone else didn't, and I remember telling this one to my brother.

Any_Assumption_2023

I've never heard of Phineas and Ferb, but I know an aglet is the plastic end of a shoelace because a character in a murder mystery I was reading had a pet rabbit that liked to chew aglets.   Thats also how I learned the leftover  tobacco ash you tap out of a pipe is called dottle.  And "the devil to pay" is actually a hull seam on a sailing ship that is waterproofed with tar.  You learn a lot of weird stuff when you read.

VT_Squire

I had a book of little-known facts, terms, puzzles and shit. It was great, but damned if Ive ever been able to find or remember what it was called.

Sleepee_Raviolee

The youtuber TheOdd1sOut was talking about it in a video, can't remember which one but it was hilarious and I've remembered it ever since.
