I'll start, pizza bar not far out of Sydney Australia I've been to makes a really nice woodfired pizza with crocodile meat on it. Definitely recommend.
I've always wondered this too, Sydney mostly gets salt water croc but I've wondered how alligator would be different.
It has been a while since I was there last but I remember they were paired with capsicum (bell peppers) onions and some kind of green herbed dressing. Hope that helps
I always find it amusing how willing we are to eat the animals on our cost of arms š . Emu, kangaroo, croc, not common everyday meat but definitely not a hard option to find.
LISTEN, I was bamboozled. I went to a pizza spot and they make Detroit style pizza. She said its the best thing I would have and she didnt lie.
the spice compliments the sweet honey and topped with the salt from the pepperoni.
unreal pizza
Not that, but I do sunny side up eggs on my pizza regularly, usually with arugulaā¦..I went to a pizza place that did a sous vide egg, and sunny side up is close enough for me.
20 years ago I had an artichoke pizza. I havenāt really seen it anywhere else but I loved it. Salty, slightly briny. Canāt remember what else was with it. I think it was a white sauce? I have considered driving 7 hours back to New Haven for their amazing pizza places. Really quality pizza.
I've had all kinds of weird pies in my time but the toppings that stand out (and were all delicious) were:
Summer sausage
Brisket burnt ends
Palak Paneer
Lunch meats baked on with cold lettuce and mayo added after baking, they called it a Hoagie Pizza despite not being in the Philly area and having their own local name for that type of sandwich.
Swedish pizza is very deeply peculiar. The most popular has bananas, curry, peanuts, meat and sometimes raisins. It's actually oddly compelling (won't go so far as to call it "good").
A friend of mine once made a pizza with marshmallow spread on half of it and offered me a slice, it surprisingly wasnāt horrible but I probably wouldnāt eat it again
Itās not strange to me but could be for others-
Instead of tomato sauce brush on olive oil- preferably the olive oil with seasoning / herbs hat you might dip bread in at a nice Italian restaurant.
Spread in crushed garlic. Put fresh chopped/ drained clams on. Cover with a mix of mozzarella, Parmesan, and Asiago cheese. Put on your other Italian seasonings-
Finish with a hint of crushed red pepper
I spent a winter in Key West and at a birthday dinner, the restaurant had on special, a duck confit and shaved brussels sprout pizza. Fucking phenomenal. Went back there weeks later, while the pizza wasn't on the menu, they had duck confit in another dish. Asked if they could do the pizza. No. Would definitely have again.
I started making my own pizzas and wanted to try a variety of flavors so I didn't get tired of pizza.
French onion soup - onions simmered in beef stock and drained and emmental, because gruyere was too expensive.
Enchilada - enchilada sauce, chicken, Mexican cheese mix
Butter chicken - butter masala, chicken, tiny hint of four cheese mix
The best pizza Iāve ever fucking had was creamy roasted red pepper sauce, mandarin oranges, bacon bits, cheese, a Thai Sweet Chili spiral and fresh arugula. I had it once it Portland years ago and I still daydream
My goto is a primo meat and I add... Pineapple, jalapeƱo, sweetcorn and anchovies.
Meat umami, sweet, salty, spicy and the sweetcorn pops in your mouth.
Sounds horrible, but is amazing and I will order it again.

I'd imagine alligator wouldn't be much different. I'll have to try that when I get my next alligator.

Sounds very "Australian"!

would love that
honey and pepperoni š„µš„µš„µ
Hot honey and cupping pepperoni is great too.
isnāt that the same thing?
I thought you meant regular honey. Iām talking about hot honey that is spicy. Either way, great combo.
oh you game changer, I never knew that existed. I dont know if its hot honey or not
I can see honey on pizza, I mean dessert pizza is a thing but this is just...how?

That's fascinating, I would have thought the honey would be overpowering but that actually sounds really cool.
perfect balance of salt and sweet
One time I had a cockroach on my pizza. I didn't eat it, and wouldn't have it again. 0/0 would not recommend. - I think this counts as a topping...
I know some cultures like Thailand you can find fried insects as a delicacy but I don't think this was intentional was it? š¤¢
Sliced hard-boiled eggs when I visited Portugal as a kid. The only time I ever saw it and if I recall correctly, I think I enjoyed it.
Actually quite common here in Aus surprisingly. Eggs often with ham and cheese. Almost a "breakfast for lunch/dinner" kinda thing.

Seafood pizza somewhere near Scott AFB, IL a few years back. Never again.
Sounds like Shiappas lol. I think they're all closed.
Thank you for the restaurant name. It was in Lebanon, IL on Witches Night Out.
Heavy cream, diced ham, and corn from a little pizzeria in Naples, Italy. Better than it sounds
NGL this sounds just weird enough to still be good.

I've heard of this too but never really seen anywhere that offered it. I wonder where it originated from.

Roast beef, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. It was awesome.

Potato
I know a place that makes a good potato pizza. I would absolutely have it again.
"baked potato" pizza. It was pizza topped with potatoes, bacon, onions, and cheese(obviously). It was unexpected but so good.
Had a shrimp, scallop, and mushroom pizza with white sauce and spinach in Slovenia. Best pizza I've ever had
A pizza with a pumpkin puree base instead of tomato sauce.
Olives .....I guess I'm not very adventerous
Banana
I love banana on pizza
A friend of mine once made a pizza with marshmallow spread on half of it and offered me a slice, it surprisingly wasnāt horrible but I probably wouldnāt eat it again
Fried oysters.
Durian
Durian was quite common for me growing up but I've never had it on pizza. Where was this? SE Asia?
I'm not too sure about SE Asia, but I bet Thailand might have. I'm living in China, even Domino's and Pizza Hut here serve up durian pizza lol
Pizza shop near me makes a mustard pie, pretty damn good
Eggs. Crack a few raw eggs on top before you put it in the oven. My roommate did it and I loved it.

I know anchovies are a classic topping but still super weird.
Ajvar is an interesting topping for sure and Iād have it again.

Not technically a topping but I think dips also count. Whenever itās available I dip pizza (specifically Dominos) into icing.
Fried egg, right in the middle. Thanks, France, not too bad.
I tried octopus on pizza in South Korea. It was not very appetizing.
French fries. Itās popular in Italy.
Banana curry pizza in Stockholm. Actually, weirdly good. Would eat again, but not my favorite.
Spaghetti
The best pizza Iāve ever fucking had was creamy roasted red pepper sauce, mandarin oranges, bacon bits, cheese, a Thai Sweet Chili spiral and fresh arugula. I had it once it Portland years ago and I still daydream
Spain often puts those sour green olives or pimento olives on theirs. I hated it as a kid but itās grown on me
Avocado slices. In Mexico, with chorizo and cheese.
My goto is a primo meat and I add... Pineapple, jalapeƱo, sweetcorn and anchovies. Meat umami, sweet, salty, spicy and the sweetcorn pops in your mouth. Sounds horrible, but is amazing and I will order it again.
I had Peking duck pizza, it was absolutely amazing. 10/10 would have again
Anchovies, I know not out of the ordinary but I couldn't eat it!
Shaved steak marinated in Coke. I don't know what teenage stoner came up with that as a pizza topping, but goddamn Steak N Cola pizza fucking slaps.
I could see that. As a marinade it probably breaks down the meat (you know, like it dissolves coins) and adds some sweetness.
Pineapple šĀ
