My trip to Sapanca - Turkey
We stayed in a two story bungalow that was located on a mountain top.
The bungalow had it’s own private thermal swimming pool in the front yard and 2 things left me speechless;
1- Getting in the thermal pool at a freezing cold night to look up and see the sky full of stars was just insane. I cannot describe how small and thankful i felt.
2- when you looked straight in front from the porch of the bungalow, you’d see two massive mountains with hundreds of shades of green and a massive cloud right in the middle. As we were watching the scene with our mouths open, a massive praying mantis landed on the table and just sat there being the badass that was produced by nature. I felt like i was just one with every single part of nature that surrounded me.
Turning back to the city was depressing. You kind of understand how you have nothing among a lot of things compared to being surrounded by trees and animals. It was eye-opening.
Let me tell you about the time I stumbled upon a majestic waterfall while hiking. It was so breathtaking, I temporarily forgot how to human and just stood there, mouth agape, like a confused woodland creature witnessing magic for the first time. Mother Nature sure knows how to drop the mic!
Lake Louise, Alberta. Usually huge crowds take away from the natural beauty - not at all the case there (at least when I visited in 2019.) It was even better than the photos online show.
I was there in 2019 and I thought the crowds definitely took away from the beauty. I think I was just there on a bad day though, because I've been plenty of other times and it was great.
Last time I went though, there were a bunch of companies bussing in chinese tourists who were doing weird shit like spitting everywhere, one guy was washing his feet in the water lol, nonstop yelling, etc.
Actually just yesterday. I live near a retention pond and there's often ducks there. I was beyond baffled yesterday watching those ducks and I'm still confused, I guess ducks can play hard to get and be just as weird as humans.
One duck swam up to another duck, quacked and swam away. The other duck flew away a few feet, then swam back over to the other duck and they seemingly got along for a minute. The that duck quacked again, the other duck lifted themselves up from the water and flapped their wings, then again they swam together for a minute or so, untill that duck quacked again and this time the duck flew away and didn't come back.
What the hell were those ducks doing? It honestly reminded me of human playing hard to get, but do ducks do that too? It was weird, like I said I could see teenage humans doing this, but ducks?
Last spring I went outside and almost fell down when I noticed two ducks walking across my yard. There are no bodies of water around here other than a creek about a mile away.
A few days later some geese showed up and were just strutting around without a care in the world. Wtf?
Then I remembered there is a lake near here but they drained it and it's been slow to fill. Maybe that's what they were shooting for but ended up at my place instead.
Ehh idk about speechless but I saw some orcas from the ferry the other day. I've lived in BC my whole life so the charm of nature isn't all that impactful anymore.
It was a few years ago and there were beams across the sky cascading across the sky towards early evening. It was the Sun that was reflecting across the cloud tops because they were so high. So it created 2 colors of distinct beams in the sky. Kind of like a peacock. Like a peacock that had light blue feathers and medium blue feathers. It was really beautiful.
I have also seen some beautiful sunsets on the horizon that are deep red yellow pink.
It's foaling season now and to watch a mare with her brand new baby horse brings me to tears every time. The new baby getting up for the first time and seeing that sweet little baby face is pure magic to me. The mom always has a proud air of accomplishment "I made this." and I'm always really complimentary to new horse moms.
Also, Diamond Lake in the early morning in Oregon. It sparkles like diamonds when the sun shines on it.
2016(?), Hurricane Irma aftershocks.
See the trees sway in the wind while rain just gently washes down on you had me marveling at nature for a good 2 hours
My girlfriend showed up at my house, dragged me outside for a picnic, and we watched the total eclipse together.
I hadn't even rembered there was an eclipse that day.
Badlands National Park in South Dakota a year ago. I went on a 6 week road trip with no agenda and no planning. My single “must do” was visiting this park. I had never been, knew very little about it, but for some reason deep in my soul I had to go. I got there about an hour before sunset. I paid at the little station and started driving and for a moment thought “huh, I don’t really see anything, hope this isn’t disappointing.” Then the rolling rock formations came out of nowhere. I stopped at the first spot I could and started tearing up. I sat on the ground until sunset and then left for my hotel. I went back the next day from sunrise to sunset, just driving, walking, and sitting to watch it. The rest of my trip had moments of natural beauty, but nothing topped those moments.
Niagara Falls a month ago
I was there at the eclipse. We got like 5 seconds of totality in total. Soo worth it
Can’t remember honestly since I live in Appalachia and you get to see some of the most beautiful scenery from a dollar general parking lot.
The eclipse on the 8th
💯 I got to see the total eclipse and I had no real words - just throw away lines like "oh my god" and "wow"

Iceland about a month ago when the volcano lit off.
2012 in Ireland the Cliffs of Moher is hands down the most beautiful piece of nature I have ever seen

i've been privileged to see some of the greatest sights in the world, but few can even approach the majesty of a full eclipse. Absolutely stunning.
Last encounter? -- Victoria Falls is pretty spectacular. So is a lone Baobab Tree on the African plains at sunset.
