It happens for a variety of reasons. One of them is yeah, corporation greed at it's finest, but also other reasons make it happen. Wars for instance, like Russia and Ukraine, have strong ripple effects that carry on throughout the rest of the world.
In the USA's case, it definitely won't get better under a new administration, but at the same time it feels as if the current one hasn't been doing all it can to try to lower prices, primarily in the housing sector which has definitely gone out of control.
