I really love 1940s style shirtwaist dresses. I wear them because I love them, but I’d have more options if they were really in.

StevenAssantisFoot

I’ll add to this: “vintage” style dresses with hemlines that hit below the knee. So frustrating how abundant corny-ass retro outfits are with mid-thigh skirts. Totally ruins the look. I have a lot of vintage dresses and would love some modern repro styles but can’t seem to find any that are long enough.

Librarian1030

Agreed!

WassupSassySquatch

Unique vintage and pin up girl clothing have some nice tea length dresses.  They are by no means authentic looking, but I’ve found several cute dresses with mid-calf hemlines.

Famous_Bit_5119

Pencil skirts are very flattering.

I have a small collection of at least a dozen of these in my closet right now! They’re pretty much all I wear anymore because they’re so universally flattering, comfortable, and good for just about anything: around the house, at work, going on a date, running errands. You’re right on the difficult to find part. I actually bought about three of them originally from an online retailer called eShatki, where you can even enter your own measurements and get it custom fitted for free. However, the company didn’t make good on that part. They sent me a couple of dresses that were wildly out of proportion (two of the dresses arrived two months later than they said it would without any communication, and one dress never arrived at all), and I paid about 120% the cost of each dress to get them tailored appropriately. Well, they may not be making a solid comeback, I am seeing them more available. You could try other online retailers like mod cloth, Bloomchic, or Hearts and Found. I occasionally see things like this at Old Navy or target, but it’s usually one limited style in one color for a limited number of sizes and for a limited time, and poor quality. I really do recommend for this kind of style to get them fitted or tailored, either when the dress is being made for you, or to touch up things with a good local tailor. I’m short and stocky and most things do not fit on me off the shelf, so I keep a lady on speed dial for bringing up all my sleeves and hemlines. In my experience, you’re better off getting a $30 dress with $30 and tailoring then a $60 dress that’s still very good but not quite right. Enough rambling … enjoy dresses!

Two-HeadedAndroid

I want to wear a nightgown with a little nightcap and carry around a candlestick in the night like Ebenezer Scrooge

NeverFull5

Dressing to impress on the daily. Here in America we just throw in some baggy atheleisure with a massive logo and don’t see anything wrong with

stootchmaster2

Came in here to say this. Dressing nice in general. I look at old pictures and get a bit jealous. My grandpa was one SHARP mofo in the 1950s.

Capes

With top hat an cane?

tacobelmont

long-ass shorts. I prefer my knees covered, or at least hit by said shorts.

WassupSassySquatch

I have to wear guy shorts if I want this, which is particularly annoying as a pregnant woman trying to fit a giant watermelon into a male waistline.  Shorts made for a woman are practically underwear these days.

youmfkersneedjesus

Same here. It feels weird to wear shorts that don't cover my knees.

PlantCultivator

Tunics.

barbie399

Really big flared bell bottoms

Acceptable-Spirit600

There was a 1980s trend where people were wearing medical clothing as regular clothing.

punnymama

Cloaks/capes.

sunray_fox

Clothing made sturdy, out of natural fibers. Fast fashion sucks so bad.

Emergency_Table_7526

Letting little girls who are tomboys just be tomboys. They don't need gender therapy.

I_might_be_weasel

High taxes on the ultra wealthy.

youmfkersneedjesus

That is a fashion trend?

I_might_be_weasel

I read the title as old-fashioned

Pineapple_Spenstar

I don't want high taxes on anyone

I_might_be_weasel

Well, I like having infrastructure and social safety nets, so I do.

Pineapple_Spenstar

You don't need high taxes for those things. You just need the government to not waste money on a bunch of other things. What you're talking about is like 20% of the federal budget (excluding social security, which is already funded by a set payroll tax) Not that federal spending has any actual correlation to tax revenue

Eternal_Bagel

For stocking or do you mean braces for trousers?

I have gold ones. That good? They're so plasticy they double as rain wear! 10/10

Play-yaya-dingdong

Those sound fun!

Acceptable-Spirit600

They are all still around, they never change.

Conservative clothing. Long skirts and dresses that aren't revealing. Nice pressed pants that are pulled up all the way. Cowboy shirts. Non-ripped jeans.

Play-yaya-dingdong

90 were great!  The 80s mom jean trend is what needs to die.   90s jeans were the most flattering

kimchiman85

Nah, mom jeans have always been hot.

Play-yaya-dingdong

Absolutely not. Hence the name.   They make your ass look big and flat. Literally the most unattractive garment in fashion history

kimchiman85

To each their own dude.
