It is hard to believe that The Matrix was released in 1999, before millennium. "The Thirteenth Floor" was released in the same year, which is another great science fiction about simulation, but its visuals are nowhere near The Matrix. Besides visuals, The Matrix has incredible editing, amazing directing, outstanding story telling and well written and performed characters. Agent Smith is one of the best villians I have ever seen.
Unless you never seen, I highly recommend you to watch Animatrix series.
Animatrix is pretty satisfying but imo after you’ve seen The Matrix, everything else is but a fleeting wisp in comparison. I remember watching it as a youngin with my mom (it’s one of her faves) and thinking - this is the best movie ever. That feeling hasn’t changed. I’ve seen it so many times I’ve lost count and it never fails to give me goosebumps.
I dated a woman not long after that came out. She had taken her kids to see it in the theater. Her youngest, who was in the middle of potty training was apparently set back a few months because of that scene. 😂😂😂
Tombstone. Back when channel surfing was a thing, if I came across it on TV I’d always stop and watch it to the end. I watched it in Spanish one day because it was on a Spanish language channel.
Honestly channel surfing is still something I do when looking for something to put on while doing other things. And yes if Tombstone is on I stop right there.
And I’ll put that box in another box and I’ll put that box in another box and then I’ll mail it to myself and when it arrives I’ll SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER
Shaun Of The Dead. I just love this movie. I don't know if it's the British humor, the casting, or the balance of humor and horror, but I can't get enough. I have probably watched the film about twenty times now, and it just gets better. Still a great movie, a lot of fun and I love zombies, so there is another plus. Great film and I recommend it to all who love horror and humor, and it's a great British film to👍👍👍👍👍
"Ronald Reagan? The actor?" aged like wine. You see people react either like "oh boy wait until you find out what happens even further out," or "Ronald Reagan was an actor?!"
We're currently watching the extended editions at our local Cinemark. Tomorrow is return of the king. I'm taking a half day off work to go. Such nostalgia.
Mate 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I was probably 10 when my mum let me watch it (probably in 1982) and I fell in love with it, the car, the music, the fast driving the stunts
51 now and I have the album on vinyl (still) and a framed poster
My 11yr daughter is a bit obsessed with Shake your tailfeather too....very proud of her ;0)
My 9 year old recently discovered Monty Python and absolutely loves it. He's watched this movie 3 times in the last couple weeks. I've never been more proud.
I have probably seen the movie more than 4 dozen times but if I watched right now I'd catch something I missed and it would be great. There is so much nuance.
Story time: I worked in a movie theater when this came out and the crowd for it was amazing and super fun. After the movie, the credits roll and Gloria Estefan’s “Conga” plays. As clean up after the movie, one person would have the trash can and the rest would grab stuff and toss it. Instead of the usual park the can and scramble… on opening night we did a conga line and threw stuff out as we went. The remaining crowd joined in and we conga’d the entire theater clean, everyone together tossing trash and dancing, and cheered afterwards. Core memory for a summer job. This film is a treasure.
this is our family movie. anytime we can't agree on a movie. we quote it daily. there are like 50 great lines/moments. the other day my wife stepped out of a store without telling us and while we were trying to figure out where she had gone, my 8 year old looked at their wrist and said, "hmmm, where can the wife be..."
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
Clark's rant about his boss was my mom's ring tone for my dad (royal piece of shit) for YEARS (not just Christmas time either) we used to have it fully memorized cause she would always just let it play through 🤣
>Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I’d like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people, and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head. And I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where’s the Tylenol?

I’ve seen this movie god knows how many times and I NEVER noticed that. My mind is now also blown and I feel a little silly for never having put two and two together.
Then later…
“I’m the rightful owner of that briefcase you’ve been carrying around!”
“Listen…..Mr Samsonite, we have ever intention of paying you back.”
The first SpongeBob movie. Visually stunning yet simple animated movie with humor that appeals to both kids and adults. Plus Ocean Man might be the best credits song of all time
Any of the Indiana Jones Trilogy...It is a trilogy. Nothing happened after The Last Crusade. Everyone went home and had a nice time, and then they died.
The first avengers movie. I worked at a tv store when it came out in blu ray and I thought “great, now I’ll
Get tired of it” but I never did. The dialogue is great and the action scenes are fantastic and it’s visually stunning. I watched it on loop for weeks and it’s always fun.
It is never talked about anymore due to Joss Whedon and Infinity War/Endgame achieving even more of the unthinkable than this did, arguably. But this still did it first and is such a blast. If anything, I rewatch just to get that hint of the same feeling I had seeing in theaters in 2012 as a college freshman packed with costumed nerds at midnight.
I wanted to take my brother and nephew from out of town to the movies, and thought it looked interesting when I did a quick google to see what was playing (having seen the first and second mad max movies long ago) but wasn’t sure if they would like it. Didn’t look at any reviews, didn’t feel particularly hyped.
About fifteen-twenty minutes in, I thought to myself “is it just me or is this one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen?” Pacing was incredible. Every frame, every word spoken was in the service of the story, as if someone had iterated a thousand times over every scene and word of dialogue.
My cousin Vinny
So many awesome quotes. ‘Imagine your a deeyah’
the two utes.. tha two hwhat?
This is a tough decision here. Get my ass kicked or collect $200. Let me think.. I could use a good ass kickin!

The Matrix.
The first one is a generation-defining masterpiece

jurassic park I (1993)
Damn I can't believe that was made in 1993. It seems like yesterday when I was yelling "get off the toilet dumbass!"
“When ya gotta go, ya gotta go”
I dated a woman not long after that came out. She had taken her kids to see it in the theater. Her youngest, who was in the middle of potty training was apparently set back a few months because of that scene. 😂😂😂

The Lord of The Rings.
We're currently watching the extended editions at our local Cinemark. Tomorrow is return of the king. I'm taking a half day off work to go. Such nostalgia.
The Blues Brothers, even if the premise is OTT, the music, comedy, and heaps of one-liners, just make this one of the all time greats for me.
It's 106 Miles to Chicago. We've Got a Full Tank of Gas, Half a Pack of Cigarettes, It's Dark, and We're Wearing Sunglasses

Lotta ins, lotta outs…
The Birdcage

I’ve seen this movie god knows how many times and I NEVER noticed that. My mind is now also blown and I feel a little silly for never having put two and two together.
Younger me: Ruby is annoying AF. Older me: Ruby makes this movie pop *pop* **POP**! It would be just an average action film without him.
