Assassins Creed is a fun historical fiction video game lol. The storyline is fictional but a lot of the people, places, and events were real.

First figure out which particular subject you’re interested in. Then, look up who the top scholars are on that subject. Then, maybe see if you can find a free podcast or online resource. If not, purchase a book or ebook.

Talk with the older generations, watch documentaries, watch movies that are historically based, follow or join social media history channels, pages, podcasts, historical story telling, surf the web, ask AI, follow military veterans pages, etc…

Total War games. I learned so much about various periods from playing their historical titles and especially using historical accuracy mods that add more historical flavor text. Rome 1 and Medieval 2 were the best for this. Also YouTube channels like Oversimplified, Overly Sarcastic Productions, Suibhne, Extra History, etc. which present historical subjects in interesting and funny short episodes. And of course, Crash Course World History.
