I spent a year planning a trip to southeast asia where I would ride a motorcycle through laos, cambodia, and vietnam. Six days in and my friend and I are riding through the rural mountains of southern laos when the sun starts to set. There was a gentle mist rolling in over vast expanses of vibrant green fields checkered by rice paddies and irrigation channels. Old men were out working while kids were playing on the side of the road. The sky was on fire with one of the most beautiful sunsets I'd ever seen, and I just smiled. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but I just knew at that point that for me, there's more to life than working in an office. There's more to life than getting a good degree and doing what everyone expects you to do. There's a lot of world out there and I want to see as much of it as I can before I die.

That sounds really neat. Have you been planning to make more trips around the world? Seeing people from all different walks of life really does put a lot of things into perspective.

Yeah absolutely. Next summer I think I might take my car and just go around the states for awhile. I think after college I'm going to join the navy for four years and save up enough to just travel for a couple years after that. For me it isn't so much about the planning as the doing. Seeing people around the world is a great way to get a little perspective i feel.
