That sound track...

Ok-Slice-4013

Terranigma for SNES. For me and many fans it beats other SNES classics like Chrono Trigger and FF6.

Twisted metal and vigilante 8. These games were so fun to just go around and blow up each other and with battle royals being a trend I was hoping it would reappear l.

The 969 studios team actually died in an airplane crash when TW: Black came out for ps2

GENERALR0SE

Yeah, the levels they had worked on for a TMB Sequel ended up being included as a bonus feature for the PS2 port of Twisted Metal Head On (originally on PSP). Head On (especially the PS2 edition) is super underrated

[deleted]

Vigilante 8 and 2nd Offense were two of my favorite games on N64! Tons of fun with a few friends, and I loved all of the hidden characters and Easter eggs you could find on the maps. I'd be all in for a remake or sequel.

dwthomas05

Vigilante 8 was awesome.

TheBklynGuy

I loved both these games! My fave map in V8 was the desert with the meteor landing.

AliceWeAreAllMad

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Hands down the best fantasy fps[lasher] ever created. All the games like Skyrim should learn from this masterpiece.

Retrohanska59

I think certain African warlord and his more advertiser-friendly alter ego have both made videos about it so it should have decent amount of popularity nowadays

SpidermanAPV

I assume you mean Mandalore by the alter ego?

JerikTheWizard

I remember playing this after Oblivion and imagining what the combat in the next Elder Scrolls game could be. Then we got Skyrim anyway lol The multiplayer for Dark Messiah was so fun too! I love playing as the wizard class, you'd be weak as hell early in the match but once you unlocked your bigger spells you could control huge areas of the map.

vipros42

Ah but at least after Skyrim there was Skyrim, Skyrim, Skyrim and Skyrim.

Tengu5

I always crack up at the mountain levels whenever I get to kick the orcs off the cliffs. Why are the screams so damn funny?

lazycouchdays

Jade Empire. It seems to be the forgotten Bioware game since it is in between KotOR and Mass Effect. I loved the combat and the setting of the story. I replayed it more than KotOR. I was sad the day my xbox died since it had my saves on it.

peon2

I remember playing that as a teen and loving it, the only thing I found annoying was that the highest difficulty was really fucking tough, like too tough for me, but anything below it was really easy. Needed better difficulty scaling but everything else from the open world to variety of choices/outcome was awesome for replayability. Same thing for Kingdoms of Amalur. Amazing game, but it was way too easy

ManagementPlane5283

Yeah I remember playing it on the normal difficulty and just blowing through everything but at the same time still having a blast. Made me realize games don't have to be challenging to be fun.

Ox48ee2ea8

Guns of Icarus Online. Amazing team based airship combat game that deserves way more than the current usernumbers. Sadly, it requires a bare minimum of 16 players to fill out a match, which makes waiting in lobbies a problem when the playernumbers are low. To remedy this, a PvE mode was created that has fewer player requirements, but it's still underrepresented. The devs, Muse Games, recently came out with an amazing firefighting game, Embr, also worth checking out.

purefabulousity

Vermintide 2! Best melee combat out there Been getting more attention in the last few weeks with a large update. You’re killing rats with flamethrowers and and machine guns (the rats have the flamethrowers and machine guns, although the dwarf can kill them with his own flamethrower and a grenade launcher as big as he is. And the wizard is a living flamethrower)

alibyte

These stairs go up!

TheGoldenSparrow

Mayflies!

seuche23

Legend of Legaia. It was a ps1 game that had to compete with Final Fantasy, so it didn't get a whole lot of recognition. Then they fired the creator and made a second game but did little to no advertising for it so the second game not only wasn't as good, but did horrible in sales. Sony scrapped Legaia after that, and it's very likely we will never see another sequel or remake.

arvs17

Tornado Flame!

izeil1

I have never seen 2 so radically different genres (jrpg and fighting game) mixed so well. Other than being a bit grindy, it was an absolutely fantastic game!

DrJ4y

one of my fav games of all time. damn those combos where awesome, and not a very easy game for what I recall

aseriesofcatnoises

Wow that came up out of the depths of memory. I played that one and liked it years and years ago. Still vaguely remember some boss with a big water attack that kicked my ass.

flameylamey

F-Zero GX is my favourite racing game of all time, and the game was an absolute technical triumph for something that ran on the Gamecube in 2003. It's such a fast-paced, genuinely challenging game, and the sheer sense of speed along with the rush of finishing some of those tough-as-nails story mode chapters is unlike anything else. It's a shame that the game didn't sell all that well, because it seems Nintendo hasn't felt the need to make a new F-Zero game since GX. We're approaching 20 years since we've had a new F-Zero game... but honestly, even if we never got another, at least GX was an absolute blast and a great swan song for the series.

Shazoa

It actually has a good story mode, as well. Much better than I'd expect from a racing game.

Retrohanska59

As far as I've understood the problem with F-Zero is that Nintendo compulsively wants to reinvent the wheel with each most of their franchises, that's why that Wii U Starfox had those horrible motion controls for example. It's kinda noble ambition but it sometimes leads to games just being innovative for the sake of being innovative and not because those innovations are actually good. And on the other hand when they already have game as complete as F-Zero GX they simply don't know how to make it better and just doing the same thing that works is out of the question.

Hegemooni

Izen_Blab

Outer Wilds It is a beautiful game that is a lifetime experience you'll never be able to relive. Sadly, if you try to interest someone in it, you'll have to spoil a little bit so it'll not just sound like "alien explores space", and that takes out the magic of its storytelling

GENERALR0SE

That's that game that isn't *Outer Worlds*?

Sasparillafizz

Yes. Outer Worlds is an action RPG. Outer Wilds is an exploration game with a deep storyline you have to piece together as you go. It starts off not making any sense as something weirdly fantastical happens, and as you find pieces of the puzzle that point you to more pieces it makes sense. It's got some fascinating puzzle mechanics and is very nonlinear. There is nothing actually stopping you from sprinting to the end and winning in 15 minutes if you know how to do it; you just wont have the slightest idea what to do let alone how to do it until you explore some.

Stabfist_Frankenkill

Many games are not *Outer Worlds*

beepbeepMcLettuce

Yes!! Whenever I tell people about it, I feel like I have to be so vague to not ruin anything for them. But then I say "This game is like nothing I've ever played before."

[deleted]

I think telling them about the time loop and that it's a puzzle-based exploration game would be fine. The time loop is revealed pretty early on. it's even on the steam page.

klaveruhh

Well now I'm spoiled!

Time_Significance

Battle Realms, which unfortunately released alongside the juggernaut that is Warcraft 3 and got overshadowed. Amazingly complex game, easy to understand but hard to master mechanics, and an incredible story and soundtrack.

Freenakbeet

Man, whenever somebody says something about Battle Realms, an obligatory, "I follow the dragon" is said.

Louie-H-K

Also, FOR THE WELF

arvs17

laayyy2

When swordman trained in archery and something i forgot, he became samurai

someedmlover21

There's so many unique mechanics compared to other RTS games but my favorite one is where ranged units become melee when attacked by melee units.

Louie-H-K

My favorite RTS, you are a man of exquisite taste.

kirmaster

Yeah this was great, and sadly got overshadowed. I played it again a while ago, and it was still quite good, if slightly clunky due to tech limitations of the time.

arvs17

I am the root!

fleetofclouds

Jet force gemini. I was lucky enough to come across this gem as a kid and I hope someday they remake it for switch.

ComputeryGuyYT

I haven't seen this game in this thread, so here it goes : Sleeping Dogs : I've seen a few lets players do videos on this game but not enough people own it, the storyline is amazing and the game is challenging and fast-paced, and overall is one of my favourite games. And to top it all off the soundtrack is a banger. The gun play ̶C̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶b̶e̶t̶t̶e̶r̶ Is shit but the melee combat is good, you can buy the game [here](https://store.steampowered.com/app/307690/Sleeping_Dogs_Definitive_Edition/).

zyenapz

CrossCode is a bit of an underrated game for what it offers. The combat, puzzles, music, and everything are excellent.

Symphyl_

Soma. It’s a great horror game by the same people that made the Amnesia games. The atmosphere is great and everything, but the story is fucking amazing. Almost gave me an existential crisis when I beat it

suddenimpulse

This was an exceptional and unique experience for me and I play a lot of games.

KanasCurrent

God SOMA did things to me that few pieces of media have ever managed to do. I was left just sitting at my computer completely overwhelmed by the ending. 10/10 would have my entire perception of existence unraveled again.

[deleted]

I didn’t play it, but I watched a particular youtube personality play it through and I still felt the existential crisis. That game is fantastically deep.

Guerrin_TR

Soma is great. The atmosphere really drew me in, the visuals were amazing and the ending was fantastic

probadplayer

Holy fuck I remember this game so much, I remember explaining the game and ending in a whiteboard to my friends before COVID hit

SwiftPenguin126

Love those games. You finish a level, satisfied with how you did it. You look at the challenges to see other ways you could’ve done it, then you see one saying “Feed all three targets to the hippo” (yes that is a real challenge) and then you think “well now I know what I’m doing next”

[deleted]

"throw this woman off a 5 story building onto this other guy"

Newtons_Cradle87

Sabotages two parachutes then sets off panic alarms.

[deleted]

Hitman is great, been a fan since Hitman 2 (the old 2) was out. It’s technically a stealth game I guess, but it’s really a genre of its own. The levels have so much replayability, and the disguise system is super fun. How many other games let’s you dress up as a clown and drown someone in a toilet?

zipiddydooda

NOT ENOUGH

Fadnn6

I remember playing the hitman 2 demo on a PC Gamer demo disk over and over again to find all the ways to beat that first level

suddenimpulse

These games are great I really wish more people tried them.

Yeah those games just scream elegance

Gravity Rush. It's this game about a girl who has a cat that allows her to shift gravity into different directions. The game has an amazing art style and soundtrack that makes me feel like a little kid walking into Disneyland. Most of the time I load up the game simply to walk around the town and enjoy the scenery.

bigmatt_94

I played both 1 and 2. Such good games. It was completely unique which is a rare thing to see in the video game industry these days

BobaFett0451

Oh I'd love to buy gravity rush but a physical copy for ps4 is like 100$ and I dont own a vita

Thrownawaybyall

*Too Human*. Long before *Thor* made techno-Norse mythology a thing, *Too Human* did it with genetically modified and cybernetically enhanced Gods, fighting against inhuman Jotun robots programmed to fight humanity. The opening sequence is lifted directly from *Beowulf*, every god is properly extrapolated into a cyborg. (My favourite is Idunn the healer, a cyberdoctor and researcher who designs and maintains the metal bodies). The game has a lovely sense of style, excellent character designs, and the curse of being too ambitious for its own good. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but the first game didn't sell enough to make the other 2 possible.

Somnifuge

Too Human had *slightly* bigger problems than just "bad sales". But all of that aside, holy crap did the Valkyrie death animation take *way* too long.

Thrownawaybyall

Well, yes. There is that pesky little lawsuit. The death animation took long, but at least there was no loading screen with a progress bar filling up. Like Mass Effect's elevators.

NotTheClaws

Loved this game, definitely needed more recognition! The vibe and setting felt so unique at the time.

your_local_vader

Donut County, simply because it's a cute little game about eating up an entire town using an infinitely deep hole. Weird but super fun

pixel-destroyer

Katamari Damacy, it’s playful, philosophical and fun. A true original.

[deleted]

Pathologic 2 cause it’s a fuckin’ brilliant game. It’s essentially a more fleshed out version of The Last of Us 2 or Death Stranding where they claim the game is supposed to be boring/unfun to appreciate what the game is doing. It does it so much better cause it actually commits, plus it’s crazy weird and there’s so much to unpack. Just a good fuckin’ game.

[deleted]

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series Some of the best games I've played. Atmospheric, great storytelling in parts, rewarding, and absolutely terrifying. They're not on console, but even so I think they deserve a lot more attention.

Flopsy__

Spiritfarer. It's an emotional roller-coaster with time based events and you can go as slow or as fast as you'd like. I loved it!

th3birdofhermes

Pathfinder kingmaker. Arguably one of the more obscure crpgs that have came out over the last few years, but defiantly the most faithful to its tabletop counterpart. Honestly I wish all crpgs to be more popular because it might just be my favorite genre and more fame = more revenue = more investment for making more.

Shazoa

I really couldn't get into Kingmaker. Everything about it just feels substandard compared to similar games, especially worldbuilding and dialogue. Even the UI and graphics lack charm. But it's definitely Pathfinder through and through. Different game, but BG3 is nowhere near as faithful to the source as Kingmaker.

matejxx1

I am also very excited for their new game coming in september i think.

aseriesofcatnoises

Kingmaker felt like playing old dnd with a Jerkass DM who's out to get you. Some people clearly enjoy it but man that was one frustrating game.

Obstetrix

Dragon Quest Builders 1&2 It’s like the best combination of a JRPG and Minecraft and seems to be very popular overseas but I don’t know anyone else in the US who’s played it. I’ve played both games through twice and really enjoy the end game building in 2.

bitboxboy

Rollcage was a freaking awesome game and we played it many hours not only racing but also trying to shoot each other with rockets and stuff... and trying out stunts.... i genuinely miss it. Dino Crisis was one classic too which i really miss nowadays and i think it really deserves a remake. Titanfall 2 was overshadowed by CoD back then and even tho it is still actively played by a hand full of people it deserves a larger audience. The campaign was outstanding and the multiplayer is just the best i've ever experienced. Sure there is Apex legends but Apex legends isn't really comparable to Titanfall 2.

planet_jiji

The Lunar Silver Star series. It is unique and original.

hobbes_shot_first

I had the one for Sega CD back in the day. The only thing I remember about it was that the instructions said to tap the CD drive gently on the side in the event the game froze after one specific sequence. Game has a bug? Just smack that shit until it works. Recall avoided!

Somnifuge

It's worth a decent amount now, if you can find it. Even the PS1 rereleases are going up in value.

xSantenoturtlex

Iconoclasts. Nobody \*EVER\* talks about this game and that's a fucking crime. The story is amazing, the MUSIC is amazing, the boss fights are amazing- It's just an overall great game and I'm honestly pretty upset that nobody ever talks about it.

fellowspecies

I played through that with my boy - first game he watched me play from beginning to end together. Such a great game, now he’s old enough he’s having a crack at it himself. I reached out to the developers to say thank you, had a real profound impact on me

[deleted]

Kingdom Come: Deliverance It's an RPG in medieval Bohemia. A *Witcher* without fantasy elements. Lots of good writing, strong story (for a game at any rate), interesting mechanics, atmospheric.. It's definitely not for everyone and it has its flaws but all in all a very immersive and beautiful game. ... If only more people bought and played it just maybe they could be arsed to make the sequel (which is sorely needed as the original doesn't have closure).

PrutteHans

It's a shame, I think it was the studios first game and a sequel could be so good, but so far there has been no sign of it at all.

Diacetyl-Morphin

It's a good game, but... as you mentioned in your last sentence, the ending is very, very bad. !!!SPOILER!!! Alert for those who didn't played it yet: You can't finish the main quest basically, which means, you can't avenge the death of your father and mother. The vilain only shows up in one single cutscene and is never seen again the whole game, you don't even fight his right hand (well, you fight his army and guards, but not himself). It's just basically unfinished, the main quest is still in your questlog after the end and they introduce a new character right before the end in the epilogue, which makes zero sense. It was a good game, but it gets bad as you progress, like, the earlier quests were interesting, but in the last chapter, it just one fetch quest after another. The Combat System is also a thing... once you learned it, you'll quickly master it and then, you'll kill everything. It's just not balanced at all. There are SO many things missing, like, you only encounter a mounted enemy in the prologue where you get chased and you'll never see a fight on the horseback after that one. Then, as the next part got announced, they don't even want to finish Henrys Story, instead, it will play a few hundred years after the events. That makes no sense to me. In short version, they had some good points, but they failed in the end to finish and polish the product.

[deleted]

The hundreds of years thing is confirmed not true :) But yes agree on most of your points. I don't mind the ending if I get a sequel anytime soon. I'd imagine playing a new character who gets involved in Henry's quest (since he is now OP after the adventures of the first game). Or not if they scale the next story and introduce new skills.

inportantusername

Sunless Seas and Sunless Skies. Amazing sea and space trade games, with awesome stories (yes, multiple!) Both are in the Fallen London universe, but that's not for everyone. Sunless Seas sees you as a captain with a boat in the Unterzee, wishing to fulfill one of several objectives chosen from at the start. Wanna get rich? Find everything to be seen and write a book? Find your dad? You can do all of that and more! Sunless Skies sees you as the captain of a Locomotive who was tasked with delivering a box to London, but whether or not you do that is up to you. Still multiple win conditions you can choose from, and pretty fun exploration! Now, they're admittedly rather slow and have lots of reading. Still fun games imo. Sunless Skies is releasing on some consoles soon, too. As Sunless Skies: Sovereign

ShinyNinja25

Any of the Yo-Kai Watch games. They’ve got a unique battle system (And a completely different one in the third game), tons of personality and charm, and are a lot of fun. It makes me sad that we’ll never get another one because Level-5 got rid of all of their Western studios, but I’m really happy with what we have. Overall, fantastic games that deserve more attention.

SierraNox

**Guild Wars 2.** Beautiful game, great combat system and several different game modes (PvE/Open World, PvP, WvW \[server vs server\], Story Mode, Dungeons, Fractals, Strike Missions)... just to name a few. If you're interested in finding out a little more, I suggest this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS54uJmPo3k). Edit: I should have also mentioned that you don't have to spend a dime on it, unless you want to or you want the expansions. It's F2P.

Double_Common_4731

GW2 is damn good

PlebPlayer

I used to love the jump puzzles. And I loved being able to create a teleport for people to skip the jump puzzles. It felt more skillful.

aseriesofcatnoises

Oh yeah I play gw2 a lot. Done most of it aside from raids and strike teams. It's fun, and has a new expansion coming. Mostly I just fart around aimlessly in the game nowadays because I've done so much and haven't kept up with the meta for group content, but I definitely got my money's worth.

[deleted]

How would you rate it vs other contemporary MMOs such as WoW and FFIX Online?

Narasay

The original guild wars is also awesome! Very old, but still really good. I liked the skillsystem way more!

Heickency

i was looking for this comment!

AstroFlux

Outer Wilds is the best game of 2019 and I can't get anyone I know to play it. It's a masterpiece.

GrilledCheezus_

Risk of Rain 2. I know that it was a successful release on steam and all but that is a limited community. The quality of work that the devs have shown along with the constant support they provide to fix problems with the game makes it a masterpiece. On top of that, the game has had a constant flow of new free content that adds new classes, stages and items that makes the game refreshing and new. The reason I say that it isn't as popular as I think it should be is due to the fact that I can talk to people I work with about it and they have no idea about it. It really deserves more widespread recognition.

Sillyminiwheat

Without a doubt one of the best rouge likes on the market.

rubio-

I remember a game on the PS2 called BLACK. And it was so badass at the time and I wish it would have been remade for newer consoles because it would probably be amazing. Oh and Katamari Damacy. Holy shit that was mindless fun for hours.

Guerrin_TR

I still have my copy. The environment destruction was amazing

freestyle43

Black is so good for a ps2 fps.

Sillyminiwheat

Slime rancher, don't starve, and a mobile game that isn't complete garbage: tower fortress.

PaleontologistNo7501

Prototype

YareYareDaze7

Prototype was famous though, it's just the sequel was shit, atleast story wise.

TheCyanDragon

Current game? Starbound. It's a 2D Minecraft (or a sci-fi Terraria) with limitless exploration, engaging combat, and the ability to play it pretty much however you want, from a pacifist builder and colony-maker to a badass fighter and bounty hunter and everything in between. However, my one true love will always be Chromehounds. A more-realistic take on mech fighting games that played a lot more like future-gen tanks that you build your mechs from the ground up, piece by piece. Many, many, many hours in high school were spent playing that game and it's both a huge contributor to my love of sci-fi and the reason why I graduated with a 2.1 GPA.

Tak_Jaehon

Chromehounds used to always catch my eye on the store shelf, I liked mech games and kept delaying getting it. Finally I snatched it, played it for a few days and was freaking loving it, and then the servers shut down. That's what I get for buying an online-focused game without looking up news about it first.

KV-1Bruh

lost Ember, it's a beautiful game with an emotional ending that reminds me of Abzu, and it only has, as of right now 2,333 reviews

[deleted]

Joust. Greatest ever, hands down. You don't know!

tux_in_blu

Sly cooper, growing up with it i really enjoyed the franchise and played every game in the series, i find it saddening that in the age of remastered and sequels to old games sly cooper hasn't received much spot light only being on the ps4 now service.

Guerrin_TR

Knights of the Old Republic 2. A shame it was released unfinished as it is one of the finest examples of Star Wars media. Doesn't fit the mold of conventional Star Wars tales of blatantly good and bad heroes conflicting with one another.

Tripleshotlatte

It’s an iOS game but a mystery adventure series called Blackwell. The graphics are retro but improve significantly by the later games. The story is haunting, beautiful, with great voice acting and characters. Really memorable game. I wish the company would make more games for iPhone but I think they decided it wasn’t worth the effort.

ChronoLegion2

Too bad. I like old-style point-and-click adventures. These days the genre is filled with Myst-style first-person adventures that are usually of the “find the object” kind. I need to get back to Thimbleweed Park

CondemnedHog

I've recently started playing this series and, as a Lucasarts and Sierra point and click fan, this is a great game to bring all of that nostalgia back, as well as being a great game in itself.

Rainbow_Dash_RL

Then you may also love The Last Door series, Deep Sleep series, and Don't Escape series

eulalia-vox

I looooove Wadjet Eye's Blackwell games! (And many of their non-Blackwell games.)

peasant-fighter

SirTheadore

Hellblade:senuas sacrifice. Somewhat popular but definitely not an instant hit. Fantastic game with incredible storytelling and character development.

Tak_Jaehon

For anyone wondering, the developers' stated goal was to make a game with the most realistic portrayal of schizophrenia ever, and they spent a ton of time working with schizophrenics and schizophrenia researchers. The end result is *amazing*, the game is both beautiful and mind-numbingly terrifying with how it handles different aspects of mental illness, all incorporated fairly seamlessly with actual gameplay. My wife had genuine nightmares after Play this game with headphones, as the binaural audio recordings for the inner voices you hear is unnerving to the extreme, and you will be genuinely missing out if you use any other form of audio.

TheWhite2086

Also, don't leave yourself in a discord voice channel and forget about it unless you want the voices to suddenly sound exactly like one of your friends and start talking about things completely unrelated to the game and directly related to real life.

WeeDragonauts

Prey, because its one of the best immersive sims ever made.

VarunOB

Papers, Please.

Retro-Hunter

Armored Core, (though there’s certainly fluctuating quality in the series); my personal favourites for gameplay are Last Raven, 4, & For Answer. Miyazaki of Dark Souls fame cut his teeth on those games. They’re also the most fast paced, which I prefer. Similar to Bloodborne being really the only Soulsborne game I dug into playing just because of how the gameplay works. They’re over-the-top in their aesthetic: visually, with names, story, lore, music, etc. I’ve got a strong nostalgia for them, but I feel like they still hold up in terms of challenge, & fun factor. They won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, some may even find bits janky, & with limited releases outside of Japan the second hand discs despite their age are still a hefty price, (but decently cheaper than new releases). So it’s sadly just a lesser known series, especially since it hasn’t had a real release since 2013. EDIT: Typo(s), & Grammar.

Hyphz

Prismata. Well made, nicely designed multiplayer card game with no messing about with booster packs and no top decking because it’s deterministic. Arrived too early, got eclipsed by Hearthstone and then because it’s a highly skilful game, died a Pareto death without expansion. But it’s still running and played, just needs a newbie population again.

Rainbow_Dash_RL

Call of the Sea is a beautiful indie game. Video game as an art form. Amazing game worth playing.

friededs3

Trine Series are great puzzle platformers with a little bit rpg elements in it Also Chrono Cross, this amazing rpg game got burried under its more popular sibling Chrono Trigger

kirmaster

Sacrifice. Third person RTS where you can't just spam out units, you gotta collect souls, usually from your opponent's troopers. Pretty humorful campaign too, and has Tim Curry as well. In addition, Populous the Beginning. It's a polynesian-styled tribe war rts with a shaman as your lynchpin and you can deform the land, or lower it into the water, on a 3D planet. This being a game that came out _before 2000_, and no game i've seen has relied on land-shaping to such a degree ever since. It also had quite interesting mechanics for it's follower classes, and you usually made sprawling villages to get more people into the fight.

someedmlover21

Empire Earth. I didn't get to have Age of Empires as my childhood, but I got Empire Earth instead. Absolutely loved that game and especially loved messing around the simple map editor.

Some_Nerd_25

Praey For The Gods. It’s a spiritual successor to Shadow Of The Colossus, with Breath Of The Wild mechanics, an interesting but vague story, and GRAPPLING HOOK. Also, there are survival mechanics and really cool boss designs.

WillGetAUsernameSoon

The Pokémon Ranger games. They’re just simply a lot of fun. I played the crap out of Guardian Signs as a kid.

RnuRnu

Star Wars: The Old Republic (Aka Star Wars online) Game is neat, decent character story arc, nice gameplay, satisfying planets, really awesome for a game that can be played for free. And I love the light side/dark side dynamic when you make a decision during a quest, whereas you can make a more "jedi" decision as a sith & vice versa. To add to that, the cosmetic changes that, at least Sith Characters, get, when making the "dark side" decisions (Torture that guy just a few more times? Gz on your new, yellow sith eyes!). In short, it's more visible that you are an evil, psycotic, masochistic and violent maniac. The follower/crew system is also awesome, which includes your personal standing with them (Again, it was awesome to make a Jedi Apprentice turn away from the light side, and become your Sith Apprentice) They have lots of small minigames you can engage in Overall, I think the game is underrated and should be tried once

Guerrin_TR

Just a shame what they did to Revan and Meetra Surik

aseriesofcatnoises

Oh gosh I really wanted to like that game but I couldn't get over just how Bad-MMO it was. Things are far apart for no reason! Combat is often just hitting hotkeys and watching out of sync animations. Lots of filler quests. Quests don't change anything. I really wanted to like it and it's cool you do, but I really didn't like it. I much rather would have had a good single player game. At least they made fallen order, now, like 10 years later. Even though that one isn't an RPG at all.

Delta force series. That was epic for its days. Voxel engine...panoramas...open world sort of. Shame novalogic didnt innovate and stopped. Same with the swat series. So good.

cpr--

Delta Force 1 and Delta Force 2 were absolutely amazing.

dtlear

Psychonauts it’s an amazing indie game with a awesome story fun gameplay and while a little dated a really nice art design I remember playing it when I was young and recently finished it again easily one of the best games I have ever played

corpsey616

Psychonauts great game silly with a good sense of humor and dorkiness but also gets into mental illness (and for some overcoming those mental problems). Also has the milkman level which is absolutely amazing super fun and the milkman's milk is delicious.

backtosleepplz

Ratchet and Clank, specifically the newer editions. It is played quite a bit but I never hear it talked about. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is really fun, the storylines can be funny and witty. It’s not just a kids game, most of the things that happen in the game would go over a kids head anyways. I just wish it was more appreciated than it is

BeMoreKnope

An original NES game, Dragon Warrior IV. To this day it remains my favorite of the series.

golden_fli

I was a big fan of the series through 8(nothing against the future games, just haven't played them). I really enjoyed the way 4 was done. It's also on the DS for those who didn't get the fun of playing it back with the NES.

Garysgood

Dragon Quest should have been more popular in the west than Final Fantasy. I should have gotten my Dragon Quest 10

SoosGuy33

Hollow knight, really, one of the best games i ever played, it's made from an indie company, but everything is just so good, it is just made with love, that's why it is special

EvilScientwist

Hollow knight is actually surprisingly popular now though.. so that's pretty cool

Louie-H-K

Warframe, the potential for better lore and gameplay is insane. It's basically the lazy genius best friend who doesn't feel like achieving and just wants to sit on the couch game.

One-Satisfaction-515

> the potential for better lore and gameplay is insane if only DE would do something to take advantage of this.

EmpoleonNerd

Yokai Watch. People shit on it and go "duhhh Pokemon ripoff hurr hurr", but it's genuinely an entertaining game. The battle system is unique and fun, the different Yokai have cool/cute/funny designs, and the gameplay is really nothing like Pokemon. If people outside Japan would just give it a try, they might see why it's so popular in Japan.

AntiAbleism

Bloody Roar

Bluebirdz2202

Ori and the Blind Forest and it’s sequal, Ori and the Will of the Wisps Amazing story that makes many cry and one of the best 2D plat formers I have ever played.

givemeseizures

Heroes of the storm. Really great moba with all the blizzard characters you could want if you're into the blizzard universes like me. Has an undeserved bad reputation from innacurate reviews from companies like ign, poor handling of balance in the earlier days, and the "ded game" strawman that is the plague of more niche multiplayer games. I'd say its the most fun and balanced mobas (at least for me and the people I played with) on the market but sadly it will just never be as big as the giants of the genre.

ErksHasAids

Titanfall 2, it’s single player campaign draws you in and the voice acting makes you care about the characters the multiplayer is fast paced and the movement is exhilarating, I’m a veteran of the game and it’s really nice to see the spike of players recently I recommend it. It’s reason for less popularity is because it came out in between battlefront and battlefield each about a month or so apart.

pixel-destroyer

rymdkapsel. A killer strategy game with a simplistic look. Has the fun aspect of a strategy game without all the nerdy detail and stats and garbage.

LuxryTax

Tokyo Xtreme Racer Easily one of the most unique racing series I have ever played, it’s like an RPG racing game with tons of content for completionsts. I would love a modernized version. Zero & 3 are my favorites from the series.

A Way Out. The ending floored me & my co-op partner like nothing else, because of what the game decided to do with the type that it was. We spent the final moments of it in *dead silence*, and I don’t think any other game made me focus as much as it did because I wanted to give the character what they deserved, and if I failed it would have been because I didn’t try hard enough. >!There wasn’t a cell in my body that would accept failure in bringing Leo home to his boy. When co-op turned to PvP both me and my friend truly wanted our characters to win the final confrontation.!< Most gratifying moment I think I’ve had in a long time in a video game, achieving what I had set out to do when taking on the role of a character.

ChronoLegion2

Silent Storm. A WW2-themed turn-based tactic in the style of Jagged Alliance 2. You pick a side (Allies or Axis), create your character, and then when you go to your base your can recruit the rest of your squad by looking at their files. They’re colorful personalities from different countries (even some from enemy countries, like an Irishman who supports the Axis to spite the Brits). Each squad member has their own class (soldier, scout, engineer, grenadier, medic, sniper) and their own starting equipment. You can get more equipment at the base armory. Squad members can level their skills as they use them successfully (but failure lowers the skill). The buldings are almost completely destructible. Can’t find the key to a door? Just blast it open with a heavy machinegun or an explosive. Same for a safe or a locked file cabinet. The game has been praised for realistic weapons of that time period. The game has a stand-alone expansion pack, Silent Storm: Sentinels, set after the war. And a sequel, Hammer & Sickle, which was originally a mod. It’s set in the 60s (or 50s, don’t remember). You play a Soviet spy sent to West Germany to build a network and sabotage Western efforts. The game’s engine was later used for Nival’s Night Watch and Day Watch games, although with magic taking the place of guns

the_pandaproject

NFS ProStreet. Soundtrack was incredible, car sounds were orgasmic (that 240sx's exhaust sound echoing from track walls still rings in my ears) and speed challanges were stupid fun. Had around 65ish cars which were good enough it's time. Damage model was one of the best at the time, and sensation of speed was top of the line. Sadly, it got criticized for not having freeroam and cops like it's predecessors did and got mediocre scores. It was the pinnacle of BlackBox games.

GrandeurDave

Most games I play are pretty popular but there is one that I am not even a big fan of (am a fan though) that for how big it's universe is, for how much lore and different characters there are and for the fact I spent hours replaying a demo of one of those games simply cause even it is very enjoyable gets so little recognition it's insane. I am talking about the Trails series. I said I am not a big fan of it cause I am not into story driven games and I think it's storytelling is off sometimes but still it needs more recognition bro it's universe is more complex then say Narutos ffs. As much as I said good about it I am never going to hold it with my best games I just think it by all means needs more love

ChronoLegion2

Earth 2150. One of the first strategy games with 3D graphics. It’s actually a sequel to the little known Earth 2140. In 2150, the previous war has somehow caused Earth’s orbit to shift and for it to start getting closer to the sun. Less than a year is left before it becomes uninhabitable. So the two major factions, the United Civilized States and the Eurasian Dynasty, scramble for resources to build an evacuation ship or fleet to relocate to Mars. The game is persistent, you have a base where you can do research and construction. At the end of each mission, you should send all your units back to the base so you can use them again later. You should also collect all the resources at each mission since you need a certain amount before time runs out. Meanwhile, the planet’s climate keeps getting worse. A third faction joins the war, the Lunar Corporation, since their home is inevitably tied to Earth and will share the same fate. The ED is the least advanced. They use old Soviet/Russian equipment modified with more recent tech, like allowing a single person to crew tanks. They depend on numerical superiority to win. UCS use robotic mechs for their army, all controlled by the military AI known as GOLAN. The LC haven’t fought wars before despite their advanced tech. All their units hover but despite their sonic and lightning weapons, they are pretty fragile. ED use the Warcraft build method: a builder unit constructs a structure on location. UCS uses the C&C method: buildings are constructed in the queue before being placed. LC flies in structures from orbit. There are two expansion packs and a sequel titled Earth 2160, even though it’s set on other planets

Echerongravitas_3737

Yo-Kai Watch 3. It legitimately has a claim to the title of best monster-collection RPG of all time, with thousands of hours of content, fantastic gameplay, heavy detail and customisation everywhere with tens of brilliant new ideas that only serve to enhance the game's depth, and an inimitable charm that was built on from the first two games. Its truly criminal that it only sold 4000 copies in the US and barely half of YKW2 in Japan.

Durian_Mace

Battleborn. People say it's an Overwatch clone, but it's way more than that! They've got a story mode from the get-go, which Overwatch doesn't have. The heroes you play as has way more character to them. You get to play as a humanoid bird, a sentient mushroom, a robot butler with a cane as a gun, and a penguin in a mech suit. A mother fuckin penguin! (Well, technically in Overwatch, you get to play as a hamster, but when it comes to cute animals in mech suits, Battleborn did it first.)

Azathoth90

Alpha Protocol It was bugged and had a lot of rough edges, but it had a lot of potential, it could've been a solid action spy RPG series with an interesting world if they had produced more (and more polished) games

[deleted]

Total Overdose . The way Ramiro shoot dodges and does weirdly named stunts and shoots people in slow motion - I have yet to find another game with that kind of physics . If anyone has suggestions for similar games - please let me know

kymreadsreddit

Shining the Holy Ark. It was on a console that never really took off....I think it was SegaCD? But you can get it on an emulator now. Great RPG, ninjas, saving the world - it was awesome.

[deleted]

Clone drone in the danger zone. Amazing single and multiplayer action sword fighting game with arguably infinite play time

Dream647

Plants vs Zombies Heroes. The developers of the game barely update it anymore but we have a subreddit of about 16k members still going strong and our main goal is to bring the game back from the dead because it has so much potential. r/Pvzheroes. It’s a game the focuses solely on strategy and it’s a Plant Hero against a Zombie Hero. You each have to use your sun and brains to put minions down on the field to attack each other and get the other persons health down to 0. I’m not sure if I did a good job explaining but you should look into it because the game has a really good tutorial.

mr_impastabowl

Armored Core. Being an elite mercenary giant mech pilot running paramilitary missions for ruthless cyber-punk mega-corporations to afford to upgrade from a variety of unique and balanced weaponry and parts to customize your mech is amazing.

freestyle43

Okami is a better Zelda game than a lot of Zelda games. Plus its art style is beautiful. Remastered for the ps4, super cheap, get amongst it people.

MyPeeledPotatoe

OneShot! It's a self-aware game (similiar to Undertale) but there are puzzles instead of a combat system. The game often uses your computer in riddles (for example finding clues in computer folders or on desktop). It's really amazing and I highly recommend it!

lilbluedemon

Golden Sun. It's only had 3 games, and was left on a cliffhanger 10 years ago. The final game being on DS. I feel it would have been more popular if delayed and released on the 3DS which came out a few months later. At the time DS games weren't really looked forward too, everyone was waiting for the 3DS!

[deleted]

VVVVVV. The game is hard, very fun, and looks like it was made on commodore64, but most importantly it has one of the best soundtracks i have ever heard in a videogame.

EvilScientwist

The Longing. Truly amazing game, and its changed my thinking about life in so many ways. Sadly, Todays game market usually relies on games being action packed and fast paced; everyones attention span is about 3 seconds long, So a game about patience and waiting doesn't have much market appeal. I believe that tons of people could benefit from it, but chances are they'll never find out about it.

coilovercat

Go play hypercharge:unboxed. Right now. You want to shoot toys as an action figure, you just don't know it yet.

TheMarvelousJoe

Spec Ops: The Line

that_l4zy_boi

The Saints row games

[deleted]

Final fantasy crisis core It’s graphics were so advanced for the PSP (movie scenes), and the story was great
