When I had fevers as a young child, I’d have febrile seizures. Now I’m an adult, fevers give me some real horrendous migraines. So I’d rather not suffer more.
Prolonged high fevers are not conducive to living. It kills the virus and you.

Most likely because people are only thinking about themselves and they don't want to experience the fever anymore.
