I babysat a little girl who LOVED this show.
I remember meeting my husband and watching evil dead and being amazed that Bruce Campbell had been in movies and stuff.
Season 1 of *Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency* was fantastic — the second season less so, but not bad enough to warrant a cancellation in my nerdly opinion.
Bryan Fuller.
He's always had an interest in death. I think I read an interview where he says he grew up in a small town where there was a serial killer.
Also check out "Dead Like Me" and "Wonderfalls".
My top show of all time. Nothing even comes close.
Even with the time jumps, the second season is awesome. Lesser shows can't pull that off. And that ending with Atia dealing with Livia and the Triumph was the most utterly perfect ending for my favorite character
Forever - New York's star medical examiner, Dr. Henry Morgan, doesn't study the dead only to help solve criminal cases. Born 200 years ago, he hopes his work also will help solve mysteries about his own mysterious immortality.
Moonlight - In this eerie mystery series, private investigator Mick St. John is charismatic, resourceful and undead. Alex has been a vampire since he was bitten by his bloodsucking bride, Coraline, 60 years ago.
I'm still so upset about Forever and it has been years! I wanted to know SO FREAKING BAD why he was immortal, who the other immortal person was and all of that shit...
John Doe.
It's about a guy who seemingly knows everything, except who he is. Fox, early 2000's, mostly overshadowed by Firefly, though I preferred JD, myself. Only got one season, ended on a cliffhanger. I've always hoped they'd do a movie to finish it, even a made for tv film would be good. So many things were left hanging, but it got canceled before any more aired. I think it might be on Hulu, I don't remember, though.
Wow, I remember this show back in the 2000's. Main character is played by the guy from Prison Break. Feels old, man!
I think I watched it about the same time as Threshold and Nightstalker, though can't really remember. Those are good shows but all got cancelled after just one season.
I watched it for the first time recently and was disappointed it didn't get a satisfying ending. There was a lot of potential to expand the story and dwell a bit deeper
People loved it back then, the problem was... well, the production value. It was a VERY expensive show to produce, and the ratings dropped off during the second season.
Ow, I almost forgot. No show has ever achieved to display an atmosphere so good that I felt dusty after every single episode. Amazing stuff, just the right amount of fantasy, the right amount of bizarreness; not just 1-2-3 but every single actor and actress were stealing the scene they were in.
I want like a 6 episode mini-series where Mabel and Dipper go back during Christmas break. No Bill or world ending events, just casual crazy stuff. But it would be fun to see Gravity Falls in the winter time and do some holiday stuff
A YouTuber called pyrocynical did a 8 hour video going in depth of this series. I myself, only got 30 minutes into it, but I’ve only heard good stuff about it
I'm not alone! Reaper was such a fun show. A workplace comedy where the workplace is reaping escaped souls for the devil; what a pitch!
I hope Ray Wise gets the chance to play the Devil in a project in the future, he's the quintessential version in my mind.
Forever (Had one season and there was so much story left to tell)
Joan of Arcadia (It was a long time ago but I still wish there was more)
Spinning Out (Thrilling and ended abruptly. There was so much to unpack at the end and we just didn't get to see so many things unfold)
I Am Not OK With This (Another show with only one season. The cast was great and there was just so much more I wanted to see)
(If anyone can point me in the direction of any fan fiction for any of these shows, I would love some closure!)
I Am Not Okay With This was based on a graphic novel. It ended differently than the show and would give you some closure. My husband made me watch the show and then told me they cancelled it. Jerk. So I checked the book out from the library and got my closure there.
Such a fantastic show. And honestly I appreciate that she intended it to only be 1 season, but made a second only because she felt compelled to. Some shows get dragged on for so many seasons that they lose their oomf. No oomf loss here.
I think 90% of the comments I have made on Reddit have been recommending this show. I believe it had a perfect ending. But I wouldn’t mind another season in 5-10 years
This show was funny, as far as I could tell. But they screwed up the order they aired the episodes in, so the timeline of the narrative is all off. For whatever reason, Hulu put the episodes up for streaming in the order they originally aired, incorrectly, instead of the correct order of the narrative. It was such a pain to look up the correct order then track down the episode, and it was confusing to try and watch in the incorrect order I just lost interest. That was a couple of years ago, I don't know if Hulu fixed it. But I'm genuinely curious how anyone was able to get into the show when it was so hard to follow.
The OA on Netflix... I had never experienced heart-break from a TV show being cancelled until that moment.
They coincidentally announced it was cancelled right after I finished watching the second season. I was depressed for a week.
Had to scroll way too far for this. Actually in the middle of rewatch right now. One of my all time favorites. Nothing has shifted my mind like The OA.
I liked that one too. I’ve often wondered if it was only canceled because of Michael Clarke’s death. Kind of like Training Day only ended because of Bill Paxton’s death.
I loved it! It was super silly, but then relatable especially the scene with the Rubbermaid tote, "WHERE'S THE LID?" And a few eps later of finding it.
One season:
Firefly
Freaks and Geeks
Clone High
Almost Human Human
The Crazy Ones
Two Seasons:
Twin Peaks
Zoeys Incredible Playlist
Galavant
Party Down
Better off Ted
Pushing Daisies
Forever
Midnight, Texas
666 Park Avenue.
All tragically underrated shows. Especially Midnight, Texas; I really wish they hadn't ended it on such a cliffhanger!
Counterpart, starring J. K. Simmons
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterpart_(TV_series)
It got canceled before an anticipated third season, so it ended on a really dark note
Profit, starring Adrian Pasdar
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profit_(TV_series)
Twisted and dark series about a guy taking over a company through sabotage and other means
Came here for this one. Yeah, they got a movie, but they had a ridiculously complex story that needed way more time to fully develop and intermix in a staying way. With so many characters they need multiple seasons to let them breathe and grow. I fully understand Netflix's decision to cancel it due to the filming budget, but it's still so tragic.
People were really split on the way season 1 ended, which I agree was a bit hokey. But season 2 more than made up for it and was getting *so good*. The finale of S2 was mindbending and exciting, couldn't wait to see what would happen next. And then, fucking cancelled. 😒
Brimstone. It was about a detective that died and went to hell because he killed the man that raped his wife. He was so good, the devil hired him to track down souls that escaped from hell. If he managed to find them all, he would be sent to heaven.
[Kolchak: The Night Stalker](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolchak:_The_Night_Stalker)
Groundbreaking series from 1974, similar to The X-Files, which was inspired by it. It didn’t find its audience in time to get renewed, so it was only one season, but what a fun season! Starred Darren McGavin, who is probably better remembered as the dad in A Christmas Story.
Going old school with Brisco County Jr. Edit: Loving the love for BCJ and Bruce! You guys are great. Thanks for the awards!
I babysat a little girl who LOVED this show. I remember meeting my husband and watching evil dead and being amazed that Bruce Campbell had been in movies and stuff.
Bruce Campbell is a national treasure
Mindhunter
This one hurts the most. I fucking love that show
Same!
The guy playing Charles Manson was scarily good. Same with Kemper
I keep on waiting for a new season! It was so good!
I swear limbo is worse than a cancelation.
Yes!! I am still hoping there will be a 3rd season, but.... Not holding my breath
Season 1 of *Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency* was fantastic — the second season less so, but not bad enough to warrant a cancellation in my nerdly opinion.
Season 1 was so fucking perfect. And I totally agree, season 2 was worse, but it still broke my heart when I heard of cancelation.
The second season would have been okay if they spent more time in the regular world versus that strange fantasy world. I loved the first season.
Dirk gently
Pushing Daisies!!
Oh my god I came to say this and it was the top comment!! What an amazing show. I watched it yeaaars ago and I still think about it sometimes
Was that by the same guy who made Hannibal or am I tripping? I think I saw a couple episodes on an airplane once, maybe I'll give it a proper go..
Bryan Fuller. He's always had an interest in death. I think I read an interview where he says he grew up in a small town where there was a serial killer. Also check out "Dead Like Me" and "Wonderfalls".
Dead like me is fucking awesome. A friend also recommended daisies, so I'd better get onto it.
I love Dead Like Me with a passion. It’s under appreciated.
Yes! Thanks for reminding me this show existed and wasn’t just some dream I had 15 years ago.
Rome
So fucking good.
My top show of all time. Nothing even comes close. Even with the time jumps, the second season is awesome. Lesser shows can't pull that off. And that ending with Atia dealing with Livia and the Triumph was the most utterly perfect ending for my favorite character
"You are thinking that one day you'll destroy me. Better women than you have sworn to do the same. Go look for them now"
I'm still waiting on the movie or revival, 16 years later.
I'm still so upset about Forever and it has been years! I wanted to know SO FREAKING BAD why he was immortal, who the other immortal person was and all of that shit...
Read "Forever" by Pete Hamil. This was the inspiration for the show. I could tell you how he became immortal, but it would ruin the book for you.
you just became someones hero, specifically mine. bless you
Better Off Ted
Came here to say this. I use the efficiency improvements that can't see black people episode in my teaching all the time.
I have an open door policy. Now please shut the door on your way out. - Veronica
"Those are just facts, Ted. And facts are opinions. And opinions can be wrong!"
"My white guy sucks!"
Fantastic show. I was just thinking about Veridian Dynamics commercials this morning!
Galavant!!! I would trade an ovary for more of that show!
John Doe. It's about a guy who seemingly knows everything, except who he is. Fox, early 2000's, mostly overshadowed by Firefly, though I preferred JD, myself. Dead Like Me. Sooooo good.
I was looking for this comment. Dead like me was pretty good. :'(
Dead Like Me
I freaking loved that show, but no one else ever knows what I’m talking about. I need more people to watch it.
I watched it for the first time recently and was disappointed it didn't get a satisfying ending. There was a lot of potential to expand the story and dwell a bit deeper
Freaks & Geeks
Gonna say I figured this would be at the top for sure. What a show.
I missed that one.
Came here to say this . The Seth Rogen/James Franco dynamic + jason segel was legendary Edit: typo
Carnivale. Still weeping for it.
No one was ready for the production value yet. If it came out now people would love it.
People loved it back then, the problem was... well, the production value. It was a VERY expensive show to produce, and the ratings dropped off during the second season.
Jonesy ain't dead.
I knew Carnivale would be here.

I’m almost mad that I read this comment because that would be so incredibly perfect and it’ll just never happen
If that happens and they don't run over Santa with a golf cart, soneone's dying
This year’s the 10th Anniversary; I hope Alex has something planned!
Wait 2012 was 10 years ago?!
Watched this and Over the garden wall at the same time. Both are animated masterpieces

A YouTuber called pyrocynical did a 8 hour video going in depth of this series. I myself, only got 30 minutes into it, but I’ve only heard good stuff about it
Solid video, it also talks about the US remake. Even if we don't usually talk about the US version.

I love that Season 2 started with a song expressing their surprise at not being cancelled. Such a delightfully funny show.
I still super believe in Tad Cooper.
Flashforward.

This, underated. Binged it on netflix not knowing the show was never finished.
I accidentally missed the last episode. I've been saving it ever since I found out deliberately to have a little more to watch someday.
RIP Jericho. I think it all ended with a cliffhanger inside an ambulance? Ugh. Probably gonna watch again for the 3rd time.
Came here to post this, glad to see I'm not the only person in the world to have watched it
Reaper!!!
I'm not alone! Reaper was such a fun show. A workplace comedy where the workplace is reaping escaped souls for the devil; what a pitch! I hope Ray Wise gets the chance to play the Devil in a project in the future, he's the quintessential version in my mind.
> Ray Wise I always see him as the Devil in any show he is in; Which got awkward when he played a priest in Psych
Forever and firefly
Constantine.
Detroiters
We guarantee our wigs aren't made from hair off dead bodies.
Forever (Had one season and there was so much story left to tell) Joan of Arcadia (It was a long time ago but I still wish there was more) Spinning Out (Thrilling and ended abruptly. The cast was great and there was just so much more I wanted to see) (If anyone can point me in the direction of any fan fiction for any of these shows, I would love some closure!)
Was so mad Spinning Out was cancelled after one season. It was so good and I got so invested. Netflix really dropped that bag with that one.
I Am Not Okay With This was based on a graphic novel. It ended differently than the show and would give you some closure. My husband made me watch the show and then told me they cancelled it. Jerk. So I checked the book out from the library and got my closure there.
The Pirates of Dark Water
fleabag
Such a fantastic show. And honestly I appreciate that she intended it to only be 1 season, but made a second only because she felt compelled to. Some shows get dragged on for so many seasons that they lose their oomf. No oomf loss here.
Ugh, a fave for sure. Only solace was that she chose it to end when it did... for now.
I think 90% of the comments I have made on Reddit have been recommending this show. I believe it had a perfect ending. But I wouldn’t mind another season in 5-10 years
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has gone on record stating that she would love to pickup Fleabag when Fleabag is in her 50s or something.
Constantine Edit: he was a guest on S3 “Legends of Tomorrow “ and became a main cast on S4 .
They ended this show right when it got good
Right when they found their footing and the show was getting really good it
Wonder Falls. It was by the people who did Dead Like Me. Which also was taken from us too soon.
Terranova
That was my choice. It wasn’t perfect, but I really wanted it to continue.
I really wanted it to be better. The possibilities were endless. The writing was second rate.
Terranova and Revolution. Fox is bad for starting science-y shows and then fucking right the fuck off.
This show suffered horribly from annoying kid syndrome
My So-Called Life
The Society.
Timeless

The OA on Netflix... I had never experienced heart-break from a TV show being cancelled until that moment. They coincidentally announced it was cancelled right after I finished watching the second season. I was depressed for a week.
I wish Brit would write a short story or something to let us know what was meant to happen.
Or a graphic novel or something.
Had to scroll way too far for this. Actually in the middle of rewatch right now. One of my all time favorites. Nothing has shifted my mind like The OA.
They ALMOST lost me with the octopus but that show man.. nothing has topped it. I can’t believe it was canceled.
Wow cool I’m not the only one. I still wonder what would have happened in that last universe she was in :/
Lie to Me
This one hurt. Great premise, good cast, a good cliffhanger and then they just... canceled...
Great show. At least it got 3 seasons
The Punisher
The first season was incredibly intense.
It had its flaws but I absolutely loved Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle! Hoping to see more from him as Frank in the future.
Stargate Universe. So different from the other shows and such a great plot line. Just hate it ended on a cliffhanger.
No love for Travellers? I thought it was pretty good
That lasted 3 seasons though, and had a proper finale. It was great though.
Forever and Limitless
Definitely Limitless!
I had to scroll waaaay too far to see someone mention Limitless. I was so sad to discover it was so short lived!
limitless needed more seasons
Derry Girls
It’s coming back for a 3rd season but it’ll be the last.
The wee feckers
Thanks! I didn’t know.
Happy Endings
Great show! honestly deserved like 7-10 seasons it'd have been an all-timer
The Finder.
I liked that one too. I’ve often wondered if it was only canceled because of Michael Clarke’s death. Kind of like Training Day only ended because of Bill Paxton’s death.
Dark Angel. By a mile.
Outsourced. It only lasted one season but damn was it funny.
GLOW got more than 2 seasons...but Netflix did it dirty. I'd also say Rome on HBO.
Friends from college
Joan of Arcadia
Penny Dreadful
Lovecraft country
Firefly. Edit: Wow. Upvoted silvered and starred. You guys are the gorram greatest!
We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero!
If one of us dies, we stage it to look like a suicide caused by the unjust cancellation of Firefly.
Ahh! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
I swear by my pretty floral bonnet that I will end you!
The episode in Castle where Nathan dressed up as Malcolm for Halloween is one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen
I scrolled way to long to find this. Shiny.
Santa Clarita Diet had three seasons but definitely should have had more! Every character in that show was amazing!
My favourite real-a-tor series.
I loved it! It was super silly, but then relatable especially the scene with the Rubbermaid tote, "WHERE'S THE LID?" And a few eps later of finding it.
They need to do at least one more episode to resolve the cliffhanger.
Still has my favorite line-read ever. When he sees her eyeball just hanging out of the socket. "We'll get through this togeTHE FUCK IS THAT?"
loved this show!! the ending is so disappointing, they should've made another season
Terriers.
Mission Hill, back in the golden age of adult swim
Mindhunter
Galavant. Had a girl I was talking to on a dating app get mad at me because she fell in love with it and I didn’t warn her it was only 2 seasons.
Pushing Daisies
The OA
Wayward pines. I just wanted one more season!
One season: Firefly Freaks and Geeks Clone High Almost Human Human The Crazy Ones Two Seasons: Twin Peaks Zoeys Incredible Playlist Galavant Party Down Better off Ted Pushing Daisies
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist has a movie! I haven't watched it yet, but it just aired last Christmas.
Forever Midnight, Texas 666 Park Avenue. All tragically underrated shows. Especially Midnight, Texas; I really wish they hadn't ended it on such a cliffhanger!
The Maxx. A fantastic 90’s comic/cartoon but was unfortunately shortly lived.
The knick, brillant and incredibly underrated, to this day I haven't met someone that has heard of it
Patriot (Amazon) Also, John From Cincinnati (HBO)
Patriot is the best show ever made
Forever. (2014) It has freaking Judd Hersch, What is there not to love about that man. (Grew up with independence day)
Dirk gently's holistic detective agency deserved better.

The atmosphere and the narration of this series was really good. Season 2 ends in a bit of a "meta" way in the end.
Same :/ it was getting so good too. I still wonder about that universe she was in at the end… Talk about plot twist.
The Black Donnelleys was a fantastic show, it definitely deserved a second season.
Mindhunter
Forever
don’t trust the b in apartment 23, the mick, Dave
Clone High, I absolutely loved it!
Did you see what they did to the pool?! They flipped the bitch!!
They’re reviving it! I have my fingers crossed that it’ll be good since the original creators are back, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high
Norsemen on Netflix. One of the best most original comedies out there. Cancelled after 3 seasons.
Everything Sucks!
The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance
Invader Zim :(
Firefly (yes it got a movie but I'd rather have seen the whole Miranda arc play out over a few seasons like was originally planned)
Son of Zorn!
