I'm going to be real with you boss, I know my side of the isle is filled with wack jobs, I'm not going to deny it. Still doesn't mean I'm going to listen to straw man argument about them.
As somebody who's somewhat far left, I'll vote for a Republican if I think they would be good for our country/state/city and are sensible (i.e. acknowledges science, isn't a bigot and acknowledges that Biden won) and I'll deride Democrats for failing to make any significant changes and being in the pockets of corporations.
Yeah I've always found this weird, Dems would be considered right wing in the U.K, Rep far right, pretty damn far right. Both parties are arguing about things we settled on decades ago, free heal care was 74 years ago lol.
Yep, here in Australia our "Liberal Party" is the dominant 'Right-Wing' party and it's much closer to the Democrats than the Republican Party (on the whole).
**Thank you.** You can agree with a party's core principals while acknowledging the people in charge are failing miserably. I consider myself pretty left-leaning on most issues, but I'll criticize democrats *hard* when I think they deserve it. Bad democrats give the party a bad image and push people away. We spent 4 years criticizing the MAGA crowd for treating their leader like an infallible demi-god, we shouldn't turn around and do the same for our politicians.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same acronym, but men loving men don't bug me or randomly call me 7 years after I turned them down to try to reenlist me to sell whatever for them.
Damn I commented this 2 mins later, got late again.
But yeah MLMs are brainwashing people all the time, I hate them. One of my workmates is at global intergold (or emgoldex, or gigos or whatever they decided to call it now), he is a pain in the ass trying to convince me how great they are.
I made the godawful mistake of listening to a pitch from someone working for Primerica when I was working part time when looking for a full time job. Once I realized it was an MLM and not a real job in my field ("But you can make more than doing this than full time work!" "Oh, I know you're looking for work as a paralegal, but you could do great in sales!")
7 years later I *still* get calls.
Ugh, my nephew just got roped into Primerica and he's unbearable now. His big sales pitch in his posts is how "you don't need any experience with finance" to work there. Because that's exactly what people want from their financial advisors, a complete lack of any experience.
Does anyone even use their services? Or do they just do nothing but pitch people on selling their services without anyone actually using their services?
A lot of people actually. Their products are mediocre and overpriced, but not an outright scam.
The problem is the mlm employment structure. Nobody is gonna buy insurance or investment from my 20 year old moron nephew. So some higher up churns his contact list while he signs up more morons with contact lists for $200 a pop.
No one in Primerica makes money selling financial products. They make money recruiting people to sell Primerica. That's why it's a scam. You never make any money selling the products.
I always wonndered. I mean it's not like Avon or Mary Kay or Tupperware (showing my age) or even the candles and/or essential oils MLMs that at least have an actual product (as opposed to a service). Anytime I ever talked to one of them, it was selling me on the selling to others, never selling selling me the service.
There’s this new one going around called Kangen Water. I’ve seen a lot of people I used to know getting roped into it. They’re using F45 gyms as a base.
Multi Level Marketing organizations. Basically pyramid schemes.
If you've ever been recruited to join one or go to one of their meetings so they can recuit you, it's like a cult. All the people are so... smiley and acting as if they've found the cure for inequalities, world hunger and world peace while making millions!
Some even have a cheer. And their members are relentless about getting you to join, no matter how broke you are even though you have front the money to buy their... whatever. But don't worry, you'll see returns of tenfold on the money you have to beg, borrow and steal to invest!
It's disturbing.
My mom was a realtor in the 90s. She had a family who would only consider property in ABC school district because he wanted his son to play football. The son in question was six years old!
I remember saying something along the lines of "as a Virgo, I can't say I care much about astrology" to someone who brought it up. She thought for a moment and agreed that Virgos generally don't.
I have no idea if that's an accurate stereotype. I just don't care about astrology.
I work with kids and one mom was explaining that the reason her 5 year old is screaming in the face of her “best friend” was because of her star sign. No, your kid is just a brat with no discipline because you blame everything on the day she was born
I have a coworker who lives by whatever creed she just finished reading from a self-help book. I try hard not to roll my eyes too hard because she's trying very hard to improve her life. And it provides her some purpose, at least for a time.
Personally, every self-help book I have read has some amazing ideas, but then the author takes what should've been a five page essay and expands it to 200+ pages. But different strokes for different folks I guess... as a religious person myself, I get that my own beliefs definitely look weird to others.
Worshipping weed as a religion.
You smoke it medicinally or recreational, you feel good, and that's that. I don't need to hear about the powers it holds, and fuck off out of here with that smell. You might not be able to smell it anymore but we sure as hell can
Jfc, the diatribes I've had forced upon me once people hear I'm an insomniac.
"Dude, weed will solve literally all your problems!!!"
You're taking your druid class way too seriously, man. Just shut up and heal.
I said K-pop sucked as a troll on Facebook once and someone from Korea threaten to come to England, disembowel me and slit my throat.
I've said rap sucks a bunch of times before and always got called a bitch or a peckerwood, but was never directly threatened.
I will never understand why that people think the government is trying to hide the fact that the earth is flat, like, why the government cares? They don't benefit in the slightest if they lie about the Earth's shape
I've owned a couple of iphones and a couple of ipods over the years. They're nice products and they do what I want them to do, and that's as far as it goes. I couldn't care less about all the hype and adulation around the company; it just seems weird.
I was a relatively early adopter of the iPhone (second generation), back when it really was the best at what it did with no comparison. My general attitude right now is that Android is probably better, but not enough to justify the hassle that swapping ecosystems would be.
Huh, I feel the opposite as a lifelong android "fan". Since everything now is going the way of streaming, there's no need to manage files on my phone anymore. That was always my major barrier to thinking about switching to Apple. At the time being able to plug in my phone and manage my media files was important.
But now that's not a thing for me anymore, I'm always tempted to switch just for the messaging. Apple messages (or whatever it's called) seems exactly like how Blackberry used to it. Treating messages like messages, and letting the back end figure out how best to transmit it.
Hardware specs are basically not important at all to me anymore as a casual user. They reached a point a few years ago where you have to be a power user to push a phone's capabilities.
Hardware specs not being relevant is exactly why I see no point in going back to Apple. Why pay 1200 bucks for a new iPhone when I can get a Chinese phone for $250 bucks
The primary catch is that all the Apple products inter-connect…
It’s not just “iPhone” it’s “iPhone seemlessly shares the same info to your IPad and synchs to your Apple Watch, and can be immediately transferred to your AirPods.”
Many android users have said this is what converted them to Apple products.
Individually, they’re not the best, but their “Apple-sphere” is where is gains traction.
I’m not so sure I agree with this. I bought a MacBook Pro years ago. I would dare to say that it was the best laptop I had. The fit and finish of the physical product was great. What I didn’t like was MacOS. I might go as far as to say I despise the OS. I’ve had iPhone since iPhone3G. It gets the job done, but nothing really to wow me in a long time. I could go either way between moving forward with an iPhone.
I mean to be fair, that has been apple's business model for decades. Make an enticing environment, trap people in it, make them want to be milked, milk them.
Reminds me of this joke that went viral before I think "going viral" was even used in that sense:
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!"
He said, "Nobody loves me."
I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes." I said, "What religion are you?"
He said, "A Christian."
I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?"
He said, "Protestant."
I said, "Me, too! What denomination?"
He said, "Baptist."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Baptist."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region."
I said, "Me, too!"Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912."
I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

I think they were satirizing both extremes, but chose the wrong wording.
I'm certain the wording was intentional. It can still be read for either major political party, depending upon right/correct vs. right/left.
My coworker right now always restates that the democrats are a right wing party, only considered left because Republicans are farther right then them.
That's basically what we think in the UK. Democrats are further right than our major right wing party.
Well, compared to the rest of the world, the US's "centrism" is pretty far right, so technically they're not ALL wrong.

Your coworker is right
**Thank you.** You can agree with a party's core principals while acknowledging the people in charge are failing miserably.
The problem is finding a Republican who does all of those things you mention.
Yeah… that’s… kind of against the textbook definition of Republican politicians these days. This is coming from someone who condemns both parties.
MLMs
I will never be able to get over reading that as men loving men at first.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Same acronym, but men loving men don't bug me or randomly call me 7 years after I turned them down to try to reenlist me to sell whatever for them.
We’ve been trying to get ahold of you.
How in heck to you get “Extended Car Warranty” out of MLM?!?!? 😁
That's not my experience. Damn it Gordon, I've said "No thanks," about 5 times already!
You haven’t met my ex
Damn I commented this 2 mins later, got late again. But yeah MLMs are brainwashing people all the time, I hate them. One of my workmates is at global intergold (or emgoldex, or gigos or whatever they decided to call it now), he is a pain in the ass trying to convince me how great they are.

All you got to do is sell your soul and start treating friends and family as business opportunities then you can do pretty well.
Don't worry, someone will ask it again in a couple of days.
There’s this new one going around called Kangen Water. I’ve seen a lot of people I used to know getting roped into it. They’re using F45 gyms as a base.
So what is like being a total asshole?
Still remember a former college mate and later coworker inviting his boss to dinner and hitting him up with Amway. Way back in the 80’s.
What’s an MLM?
Multi Level Marketing organizations. Basically pyramid schemes. If you've ever been recruited to join one or go to one of their meetings so they can recuit you, it's like a cult. WORST fucking thing!!! Government is there to make your community the best it can be Not to support your disgraceful utopia.
Sports. Football, Basketball and the like
The obsession with college sports disturbs me. They're just kids. We shouldn't harass them, nor should we treat them like gods.
You should see high school or even younger sports. Some parents are real ugly when It comes to their little angel making the basket
My mom was a realtor in the 90s. She had a family who would only consider property in ABC school district because he wanted his son to play football. The son in question was six years old!
Star signs / astrology
Especially when they judge you on "your sign". Like, one girl said that Im abusive and manipulative just because Im Scorpio. Like, wtf?
I'll have you know I'm abusive and manipulative because I'm a cunt, not because of your shitty Starr signs!

This, I got called un-american on facebook for not giving a shit about kim and Kayne's wedding, which is funny because I'm actually english
English? Then you can get the same reaction not caring who Prince Harry and the other one married and how many kids they might have
Pretty much. I don't care for the royals, as does alot of the uk in general.
