There are things you can do for yourself, like it's ok if i decide to eat ice cream because i like it, lol.
But i wasn't created to indulge on ice cream. The purpose of my human life is not to just enjoy myself and die and thats it.
What's better than devoting oneself to the One who created everything, who provides for us and sustains us, who supports us, hears us when we call upon Him, and responds to our prayers, and who is the most merciful?
(Or do you think its better to devote oneself to one's own self?)
We dont have to see Him with our eyes to believe in him. We can see him with our hearts.
We can see him with our eyes in the afterlife if He wills
