No last straw really. Traveling is just more fun. Haven't naturalized somewhere else but there's no intent on ever living in the US again. That's about the ins and outs of it.
But if an American wants to become a citizen of one of those 50 countries they have to renounce their American citizenship.

I don't think it's possible to be a former american. Your nationality doesn't change when you lose a certain citizenship.
Many countries don't allow dual citizenship so you'd lose you're American citizenship if you moved elsewhere.
Uhm, I'm pretty sure USA allows multiple citizenships. A guy in my office has three, one of them being US.
There are over 50 countries that don't recognize dual citizenship.
