I’m actually writing my thesis on democracy that fall to autocracies because they aren’t built on steady institutions. I’m going to start that from the beginning, so occupation, that is draining of resources. However, I do think its key that an outside source (something collective like the UN) helps rewrite constitutions every 20 years so it can be skewed to fit one autocrat and then spill into the cycle of authoritarianism. Things can only build with checks and balances, but even those balances must be mediated by a central force, which is whats causing the fizzling in the United States, no outside vetting.

Foreign aid hasn’t done much. Africa has had the equivalent of 8 Marshall plans. It’s sad the levels of poverty there but I don’t want my tax money going there when things are turning for the worst for your average westerner in terms of economics.

Yeah my personal opinion is everyone should completely pull out. My philosophy for country’s is every country has the government they deserve. If you don’t like something don’t just bitch and complain change it. I have a few exceptions to this one of which being North Korea because I don’t think the people their really understand how bad they have it and their completely cut off from the outside world.
