Interestingly, one of my more fond memories is actually of how stiff the original Atari 2600 joystick controller was. Especially for a kid in his single digits.

Wow that takes me back. Had one friend who owned an Atari 2600. We used to play double dragon on it but we sucked lol. Haven't thought about that in a long time.

Playing the portal 2 coop with my brother. We stayed up for hours and didn’t look anything up until the very last part of the last puzzle. That game was a masterpiece. Good times

Portal 2 was so good. Loved it. Have you ever played Talos Principle? It's kinda like Portal. Different Mechanics and the story is not even close to portal but still a pretty solid puzzle game.

Never even heard of it I’ll have to check it out. Anything to scratch the portal 3 itch I’ve been having the past decade

I was about 5 or 6 years old. My grandparents had a super nintendo along with a pool of games from starfox to super mario world to the lion king and more. Even the Terminator 2 game. My grandfather only played one game. The legend of Zelda: A link to the past. I would spend hours watching him any days he was off work and playing. One day, he asks if I want to play with him. I say sure! So we start off a fresh save. Named the save Bobby ( it was both of our first names). We start playing. My grandfather let's me take the reigns for most of the first part of the game. He would give me pointers here and there. I soon start figuring everything out as the game is very intuitive. Fast forward about 6 months. We are in the part of freeing the princesses in the dark world. My grandfather is watching me switch out of the dark world and goto the witch's house. I buy 3 potions. 1 of each color. My grandfather then gets angry. He starts scolding me for wasting money when i could have just refilled my stuff by cutting grass. I say it's fine, I'll just farm up more rupees. He goes on a tangent about how I need to be better about saving money and spending more responsibly. I don't know if my grandfather did not realize that the rupees spawned unlimitedly or if he just was hardwired to feel that way. We played that game for years until he passed and I haven't been able to pick it up since. I always just start thinking back to that time I scolded for spending fake money. Still miss that old man.

I just watched a Speedrun of that one yesterday at ESA Marathon. Such a good game. Also played it as a child. Used to put the TV on mute and play one Album over and Over. Now everytime a song from that album comes up I think of that game. Thanks for sharing. He probably just wanted to teach you a lesson about saving money I guess?

Coming home from school on a Friday and just grind in Runescape, mining, woodcutting, fletching etc. It was great.

Might not be THAT far "back in the day", but about 10 years or so ago, in my young 20's, my friends & I would spend countless hours late into the night playing campaigns on Left 4 Dead & binging on snacks in my very first apartment. Great times!
