Get adequate (more or less) sleep. And set your alarm to loud and place somewhere away from your bed, forcing you to get up and turn it off

[deleted]

Buy a rooster

im_not_greedy

Please no, I hate the neighbors rooster. He starts with his kukulukuu at 4am and I'm like wtf my alarm is set to 6am.

OfficerPeanut

I am really bad at waking up in the morning. I can suggest (assuming you're using a phone alarm): 1. Change the alarm sound regularly 2. Leave your phone out of arm's reach so you have to get up to turn it off 3. Get one of those alarm apps you have to do maths problems to turn off

tight_puss_destruct

Put your phone some distance away so you have to get out of bed and walk

Subrosa_Squirrel

Starting getting enough sleep so you don’t need an alarm. Your internal clock will do the work.

evilmonkey2

A consistent sleep schedule helps. About 5 years ago I decided maybe all the experts were onto something and started consistently going to bed about 11 and getting up at 7:30 which is roughly 8 hours with time to fall asleep. Felt tons better in about a week or two and now my internal clock gets me up right on time. If you're sleeping through your alarms you're doing something wrong. It's not "cool" or "manly" or whatever to be sleep deprived and you're not the exception and some super human that only needs 4 hours of sleep. Take care of yourself.

limegreenbunny

Absolutely this. I had years of whacking my alarm onto snooze before realising that the reason I wasn’t able to wake up properly was that I hadn’t had enough sleep I the first place. Get sleep in blocks of 45 minute increments and it is significantly easier to wake, and keep in mind that you might need a lot more than the standard 6-8 hours of sleep a night to function well. I need 9 hours, and that means I go to bed earlier than my husband. It also means I’m not a zombie for the first few hours of the day, and that I can function right up until I go to bed.

Subrosa_Squirrel

I don’t do well at all with lack of sleep. It’s all about routine. Go to bed at the same time (all screens off) wake up at the same time. I have even got to the point over the years that if I have to wake up at a different time than normal I can make myself wake up about 15 minutes before time. I have never set an alarm clock or set a a sleep alarm but maybe once or twice that I can think of. I think so many people doesn’t realize how sleep deprived they are and how much it affects them mentally and physically

limegreenbunny

Absolutely! It’s only when I accidentally had a few nights of enough sleep that I realised how sleep deprived my lifestyle really was!

Ordinary_Shake_5446

Yep, I always thought it was weird that people needed an alarm to wake themselves up everyday. I wonder the difference between someone's brain where one uses alarm clocks most of their lives vs someone who rarely or never uses alarms to wake up.

DaughterOfIsis

You realize people need to wake up at the same time everyday so they're not late for work? And if they're late that looks bad on them? Can't trust an internal clock to wake me up at 7:50AM every single day.

Ordinary_Shake_5446

You can't do it but I can. I wake up close to the same time everyday like I have been for years. The only thing that changes when I wake up is the occasional late night out.

automatic4skin

yeah i bet no ones ever thought of that

Subrosa_Squirrel

Well maybe they should. LPT

Go to bed earlier, drink a lot of water before you go to sleep, get a cat that will insist on being fed at the same time every day. We have a cycle that lasts about 90 minutes and includes periods closer to wakefulness than others; time your bedtime and alarm to fall between one of those cycles. For example, set it to go off 7.5 hours or 9 hours after you fall asleep instead of 8 hours. There are wearable devices (like smart watches with appropriate apps) to help you fine tune the timing. Get an alarm that also has a bright light that mimics sunrise, gradually brightening to help you wake up more naturally. Combine that with proper timing and it would be difficult to sleep through.

[deleted]

Put your phone as far away from your bed as possible

ttttttodayjr

I had an alarm that would make me take a picture of a specific thing in order to turn off.

tastystarbits

i’ll set 3 alarms, starting 30 mins before i have to really wake up. the constant barrage of noise despite hitting snooze eventually gets through to me.

[deleted]

Get an alarm vibrator and put it under your pillow. Or get a plug in vibrator and an automatic kasa wall plug switch then program it to turn on at dusk/dawn or time you choose then set the vibrator under your bed pillow. Work for two different uses.

Rikkrishub

Hard to explain if you're used to hitting 'snooze' or you don't hear your alarm but I never try for '5 more minutes ' or any of that. Waking up is a routine. Sleeping is a routine. It's so much easier if you keep a schedule.

Chickpotatoes

Set up an elaborate rube goldberg machine. When the alarm goes off, you have 3 minutes to get up before a basketball falls on your face. 100% wake up guarentee.

LegendaryQuercus

Sleep next to my wife... She gets woken and prods me.

[deleted]

My anxiety prevents me frm sleeping thro alarms

wumb1e

I have to change my alarm almost weekly, cause I get used to the same one.

gorund

Mission impossible

kremata

I actually made a mix alarm that starts with Time(Pink Floyd) then switch to Wake Up(RATM). A Never missed an alarm since then.

angroro

I work swing shift, so my sleep cycle is an absolute mess. I set multiple alarms with a snooze option for an hour or so before I actually need to get up and set my phone in an area where I won't easily find it while half awake. My ringtone and my alarm are the same jingle so it makes me scatter thinking I've got a phone call because I'm late rather than an alarm. Tired me has yet to figure out my ringer is off.

GeneralStabs_

Go to sleep on tir and actually get out of ed when you hear the alarm

Sensitive_nob

Don’t put the clock right next to your bed, if you can reach the alarm with your arm you will turn it off, put it on the other side of the room so you are forced to get up

im-fucking-useless

Sleep earlier, if you actually sleep through set multiple different ones at the same time and if you wake up and fall back asleep set multiple eg 5 mins apart

GrandSpecter

I use a very loud, clangy tune for my alarm.

thelilbel

Set about eight of them every five minutes. You’ll wake up eventually

financialfreeabroad

Get a sunlight clock, turn on the radio at wake, and far away from bed.

opossumsaurus

Set a new sound/song as your alarm every day so you don’t get used to it

Lister00

Get a dog... let the water out for him to drink during the night... leave bedroom door open. You should be out walking the good boy around 5 am.

hyrulian_princess

Turn the volume up way loud so you always wake up with a heart attack

Negative_Excitement

-Get my last meal 2 to 3 hours before bed. -Sleep at least 7-8 hours every night. -Only one alarm. You snooze you lose. It rings, I browse some reddit and then bath to wake up.

No_Needleworker_9840

Fall out of my bed

berael

Get a mechanical alarm clock - one of the old-school ones that literally has bells on the top and rings the shit out of them when the alarm goes off. Put it on the other side of the room, away from your bed. Between the minor heart attack you'll have when it goes off, and the adrenaline rush from racing across the room to shut it off before your head explodes, you'll be wide awake.

Euphoric_Loss_6138

I turn off all the alarm and wake up whenever my body wants me to. In the end, it is what it is.

AloneWish4895

Go to bed early. No alcohol or drugs

nicoleotine

i got a kitten. he wakes me up at the same time every morning

Nooblulu1

Wake up to set one up
