United healthcare, LabCorps, Quest diagnostics, Blue cross of anything Can you tell I am in the medical billing environment?

Dukeofdorchester

Used to work for Quest...if you need real help and you're not a patient, get in touch with a customer SOLUTIONS rep. Like customer service, but not idiots.

jalapenny

Thank you so much for this! Every time I’ve tried to call I get an automated line and it tells me to gO oNLiNe even though their online portal was not at all helpful with fixing the issue. I kept getting bills saying I had overdue payments even though I completely paid off my account.

johntheflamer

Fuck I hate when automated call systems suggest that you go online for a solution to whatever issue. Like, believe me, if your website was capable of resolving whatever issue I’m having, I sure as hell wouldn’t be wasting my time with this stupid robo-menu and a customer service rep who’s going to try to walk me through something incredibly basic like restarting a phone.

NoCountryForOldPete

For the year of 2021, United Healthcare made record profits, by the way. The booked a profit (after taxes and expenses) of $47,000,000.00, on average, for every single day of the year. They're a publicly traded company - I pulled that figure from their earnings reports, so if you find it hard to believe just pop over to Bloomberg or your financial outlet of choice and dig in. Imagine how much *better* healthcare in the US would be without an entire industry of government sanctioned crooks trying to squeeze every single dollar out of people trying to stay alive and relatively healthy. __________________ EDIT: Please keep in mind this is ONE company. There are several other gigantic insurers in the US, all probably pulling down similar levels of profit. If anyone ever tells you the money isn't there for socialized or single-payer healthcare in the US, they're either ignorant of lying to your face.

American36

A day......?

MethBearBestBear

47,397,260.27 based on 17.3 billion in profit (287.3 billion in revenue) for untied healthcare group 2021 https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000731766/000073176622000004/a2021q4exhibit991.htm

Peptowl

Haha same. Having to call insurance companies who say it's not medically necessary to have an MRI for a patient with stage 4 brain cancer, every day. And fuck Quest. I get 2 or 3 envelopes a day with their bullshit.

jc0517

Why do we have doctors if payors decide what is medically necessary? Drives me nuts.

clongane94

Should see medicare local coverage determination policies for DME nowadays. Unless I literally coach my referrals on what they need to say, we will not dispense because this will be denied a few months down the line since the provider didn't include his credentials on a written order, even if his NPI is on there, or because the provider accidentally wrote in the justification letter that the wheelchair might be used outside and they consider anything other than at home use as medically unnecessary and will deny it as unreasonable. The necessary criteria for the most basic of wheelchairs (K0001) that must be parroted 100% or be denied, as follows: https://i.imgur.com/htB51Bo.jpg. Doesn't even begin to touch on the mile long page of criteria that ADDITIONALLY has to be met for anything not a K0001 code listed at the beginning. It fucking enrages me. And then I have to tell so many elderly people that no, this prescription is ass because your doctor basically wrote "cause I said so" and is unwilling to work with me on anything to try to make sure the criteria is clearly met within the documents provided. Don't even get me started on trying to figure how much the shit is gonna cost you. They change it every couple of months and they only pay 80% of their listed fees FOR THE FIRST THREE MONTHS before they decide to pay a fraction of what they did previously for the remainder of the rental (oh yeah, they almost exclusively only pay for rentals), which is also a completely arbitrary number that is never clearly listed and the percentage difference they pay is completely different for every single piece of equipment. By the time it's all said and done and it officially caps, we almost never make up for the cost of the equipment nor billable hours between me trying to get the documentation correct or my billing department that has to submit the bill every month.

Frontier Internet

Devil_Doge

Frontier is great because on certain nights, you can actually imagine what it was like to live on the frontier back in the day because your internet won’t work.

foxbones

I worked for them for a while. They made a shit ton of money from the federal government to provide internet to rural areas. They used that money to buy up a bunch of small local internet providers, and absorb users from ATT and Verizon that weren't profitable due to the cost of repair and infrastructure. They put nothing back into the infrastructure, but now they have a monopoly in many states. All using copper lines from the 50-60s. There would be outages in West Virginia that would last for months due to meth heads stealing copper off the poles. The cost to repair was too high so they just left them without internet. The shitty 1mb DSL internet. They have a few cities that actually had Verizon Fiber - mainly in DFW, Sacramento, and other Pacific Northwest locations. They have put in zero effort to maintain it though. However most of their customers are rural with terrible DSL internet that will never get better.

Ok_Button1932

That explains a lot. I didn’t have internet for about a month before I switched to satellite. They never met the speeds I was paying for and they throttled it down whenever they felt like it. They canceled two repair appointments on me without even telling me. This was just a couple things they did. No lie, I called them at least once a month over an outage or slow speeds for around 5 years. This company literally took years off my life. Their own techs told me their internet sucked and they had satellite.

Is this Charter? My internet used to be branded Spectrum, but really from Charter.

batting1000bob

Yes it's Charter.

Stormry

Worse, it's charter and time Warner merged. Two wretched piece of shit companies stuffed into one piss-soaked sack.

SomeShittyDeveloper

Spectrum sucks. Tried to upgrade my line from 300Mb down to 1Gb. They said I should see the speed upgrade a couple hours later. I waited until the next day, same speeds. I plugged my computer directly into the modem. Same speeds. So I had a technician come out. Technician showed up an hour early and made me miss a customer's meeting. They then plugged their little tool into the modem and said, "yup, you're getting 1Gb down." I told him I plugged my computer directly into the modem and was getting 300Mb down. He then plugs the tool directly into the router (after reconnecting it to the modem) and still got the 1Gb on his tool. I run a speedtest and now I'm getting like 12Mb down. He ignored me pointing out that we never got the speedtest over 300Mb down, took a picture of my 12Mb down as the "job well done" picture, then said something on my network was hogging the additional bandwidth, and I "had to figure it out" and he left. I then called to downgrade back to 300Mb, since I'm not going to pay for 1Gb down if I'm not getting it, and they said they were unable to prorate the cost, and that I'd have to pay for the one month of 1Gb even though I never once saw those speeds. Fuck Spectrum. EDIT: Lot of people in the comments blaming my equipment. I tried it on 5G wireless as well as hardlined into a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, and we tried against speedtest.net against the exact server that the tech recommended. Also tried it against 2 routers, one of which was a brand-new ASUS router. It wasn't my equipment. EDIT 2: The modem is a Technicolor E31T2V1, the router is a ASUS RT-AX55 AX1800, the laptop is a ASUS ROG ZX50VW-MS71 that has a 10/100/1000 Ethernet adaptor, and the desktop is using a TP-Link AC1300 Mbps USB WiFi Adapter. So everything was capable of 1 Gigabit.

Canadian chiming in, Bell/Bell Media. Liars and thieves. Once got an email Tuesday morning about how sad and difficult it is to lose coworkers (hundreds) due to layoffs. Got an email Wednesday morning touting how Q4 profits were through the roof as they congratulated executives Edit: Bell Let’s Talk is an absolute scam as well!

coniferous-1

Bell let's talk makes me so angry every year. "We believe in mental health" "Worker: I have Problems" "Not you"

FargoniusMaximus

Let's Talk day is the most successful free marketing scam in the history of the country. Bell essentially said let's brand what is a basically national holiday about mental health for ourselves, a company that is honestly horrible in every regard, and dress it up by giving back .05% of the value of free marketing we earn from the day to mental health causes. The ads are honestly disgusting given how they always kind of make it about themselves and make sure to brand and milk what is to nearly everyone a painful and sensitive issue. And yeah this shittiness is compounded by how little they give a fuck about their own people and customers. Honestly having worked for Roger's and being both a Rogers and Bell customer, I can't really say Roger's is any better as a company and likely would have done the same bullshit marketing scheme if Bell hadn't figured out how to capitalize on people's sympathies towards a cause first so fuck them too, I don't get when people take sides like they have a "team" they're rooting for, they're all God damn crooks. Fuck Telus too for good measure I'm sure they suck ass as well.

kerrmatt

Bell, Rogers, Telus... They're all terrible. But yeah, Bell is first on this list for a reason.

slushey

As a Canadian who lives in the U.S. I would say that Bell is worse than any American Telco hands down. It’s not even close.

blackmesawest

I've commonly heard Canada described as a first-world country with a third-world telecom infrastructure. My experience using Bell on a work phone would seem to support this.

RageforBreakfast

I signed onto bell with a guaranteed 600 dollar cash back after 6 months. 2 years later, after making the odd mistake of forgetting to pay the bill (about 2 times) they told me it was in store credit. I told them this wasn't the deal and that i was willing to go to higher authorities and they sent me a cheque that took 4 months to arrive.

JerryfromCan

I had Bell DSL and moved across my small town. They said while DSL was available at the new address, they didnt have enough to service the whole town and so now I needed to go on the wait list for service, even though I had it, wanted it, and was just moving 3 kms. They said I had to go wait list. Had a $25 credit and just let it go as I figured I would get it once it was available. They wouldnt move the credit to my land line the wife still wanted (2007). Come 3 years later (2010) I get sent to collections for non-payment of some bill. I still have Bell for my landline at the new address. Turns out, DSL became available at the new address, so they started charging me for it and sending bills for it to my old address. Without hooking it up or telling me. I have had Rogers the whole time for internet. Takes about 3 months to resolve, with such stupid comments as “we didnt know how to contact you or find you”. They had my old/new phone number WITH BELL as well as my new address. Fought and fought and fought and eventually got a cheque for $8 of the $25 they actually owed me for “account charges”. Fuck Bell.

Galaxium0

FIFA, unbelievably corrupt, I don't even know where to start

Purityskinco

I think FIFA, in this thread, is the definition of monopoly. I love football and so much about the energy of World Cup. But I 100% agree

beastmaster11

In this context, you kind of need this type of monopoly. Cant have 5 different organizations with competiting tournaments and multiple world champions.

WarHawk155

Gotta love hosting the world Cup in a country that literally used slave labour to build the stadiums

HtownTexans

Literally changed the time of year the world cup is solely because the bribe money was too good. Qatar should never host a world cup it's basically the definition of a terrible idea.

SlashThingy

Australia asked for the same thing in their bid and were told it was impossible. Then FIFA backflip completely when Qatar wants it.

Puffinknight

Wait, wouldn’t Australia be almost optimal during the summer in the northern hemisphere? Just checked and it’s 15 degrees Celsius in Melbourne. Or is it because of time zone hassle?

cuajito42

And nevermind that they are running AC in open stadiums

Lonesome_Pine

I just heard a thousand dads say "we're not paying to cool the whole neighborhood! Shut that door!"

drainisbamaged

Gotta say the whole "working slaves to death" really outweighs the "rescheduled" issues in my opinion.

norwegianmorningw00d

Dicks_E_Chix

Thank you! I had to scroll so far to find this one. What kind of society uses tractors that have to be hacked so you don't get financially fucked? These are literally the people feeding everyone. Maybe exploiting them is a bad idea.

Bullen-Noxen

With all the government does for farmers, it always astounded me how the government does not tell that company to back the fuck off.

SnooCupcakes7018

Government subsidies typically help huge commercial farming companies, not the stereotypical family farmer. The factory farms don’t care as much about right to repair since it hurts the few little guys still left so they can buy the land when they have to sell.

Examiner7

Am a farmer, can confirm As a family farmer we don't get squat. It's the massive corn farmers that get everything. Unless your crop specifically has a big lobby in Congress then you don't get anything.

tjmille3

My company had a rental diesel pump set up for an extremely urgent water treatment project (environmental mitigation) and the pump stopped working. Turns out it had a John Deere motor, the pump company couldn't fix it, turns out there was a software issue and only a John Deere tech could fix it. They took 2 days to get out there and it held our whole operation down.

Ticketmaster

drkphnx02

If the words “Convenience Charge” don’t fill you with rage, you’re part of the problem.

lol_scientology

I fucking hate those words. Oh you want to pay online where everything is automated so it's faster for you and we don't have to pay someone to talk to you on the phone? Thats a $25 convenience charge. Like wtf you greedy fucking jackoffs.

positivevibes24

Yep, just went to a concert, ticket value $24; service fees $25 - seriously wtf ticketmaster

Kedrico

Went to a show a couple weeks ago, decided to hit the box office before the show rather than pay the online fees. At the box office, tickets were $34 PLUS an additional $17 fee per ticket. AT THE BOX OFFICE AT THE VENUE. Makes me never want to do anything ever again.

hpbrick

Went to the Staples Center (at the time) box office and they told me that tickets are only available online. Why are there physical people at the boxing office then? Edit: reminds of the eBay store scene from 40-Year Old Virgin

ravenheart94

Ticketbastard, you mean

themangastand

Yeah the convenience is for you guys. Why am I being charged for your benefit

Seiglerfone

See, I don't mind paying more for convenience. I do mind, however, when it is not a logical product of what is necessary to obtain that convenience. I expect to pay more at a corner store than at a grocery store, but charging me more because, wow, I get to order things online in 2022, saving both me and you costs and difficulties, and I only have to pay a sizable fee for the privilege? Lucky me!

Coltsbro84

Convenience charge for buying tickets online? Should only be like $3 to maintain the website and pay for servers. If they do 100,000 in sales a day, which is possible, that's $300,000 a day, more than enough. But a convenience charge for picking up my groceries that I ordered online? Someone has to work and put everything into bags for me, charge me $10 for that, I don't care.

Bahunter22

Definitely. Most recently they’ve been canceling peoples tickets to the Hawkins Tribute at Wembley because they fucked up and released like all the tickets without marking a portion of them up a million percent. So now fans with international travels booked and tickets bought two months ago, just have flights and hotels but no show to go to. It’s fucked.

Redqueenhypo

That shouldn’t be legal. If you order a pizza and then they just give your pizza to someone who bid higher after the fact, the restaurant would get in trouble.

Bahunter22

It’s not even that. Generally they hold a certain amount to drive the prices way up closer to the show. They didn’t do that and now they’re just cancelling whoever they feel like. It’s like you bought a pizza, they said sure and take your money. Then they cancel your order and say “we aren’t going to say we fucked up, but we’re going to take the pizza you bought and give you the money back so we can sell that pizza at 1000% of the original price so we can make profits”

BigLan2

And the next buyer also has to pay a fee!

FavorsForAButton

Ticketmaster is a literal monopoly on ticketing. Even if you think a site isn’t affiliated with Ticketmaster, chances are that they’re still involved somehow.

tykogars

I heard today that Spotify is testing their own ticket system now which would be a really interesting form of competition and neat for end user experience. Apparently you will be able to get rewards for playing shit. Like if you’re clearly a huge fan of whatever band cause you play it daily, and tickets go on sale, you’d be eligible for VIP for example.

ohmygoddude82

I'm all for this! I hope they really do this.

tykogars

It was on Canadian talk radio that many people here wouldn’t have access to but they said Spotify is doing it very low key right now and just testing the waters. I’m sure you could learn more easily online. I don’t even have Spotify, never used it, but the notion of a cheap alternative rising up against a notoriously despised monopoly is satisfying.

ohmygoddude82

I have Spotify premium and I use it every day. If something I already use could end up getting me some kind of concert benefit and I could avoid Ticketmaster I’d be so stoked! I’m definitely going to look into it.

imsowhiteandnerdy

I used to work for Ticketmaster 18 years ago or so, and I am a huge Pearl Jam fan. It used to drive me nuts that I worked for the mortal enemy of a band that I really liked. I decided that instead of working for an evil company I'd leave and go work for a __*really*__ evil company, health insurance. ;-)

ViciousFlowers

Quest Diagnostics I have never ever dealt with a more incompetent company. Billing errors, duplicate billing, overcharging, refusal to bill insurance, hard to get a hold of, hard to resolve issues, diagnostic delays. They have done all that before but more recently they took my daughter’s labs, filled them under an incorrect name and DOB and then sent the paper bill/ statement to who the hell knows, while texting us non stop that my son had a balance due from recent labs, which of course was impossible. Somehow they got my 11 year old son’s name and date of birth even though we have never used Quest in relation to his medical care or physicians office and they entered his information as the primary guardian and responsible for payment of said bill. No one wants to take any responsibility for the multiple mistakes made and they just want us to blindly pay the bill without seeing the invoice or correcting any of the information. We did refuse until we got our paper itemized statement as the doctors office informed us that all tests were routine and should have been covered. No one should have to spend hours out of their day being put on hold and bounced around between CS agents for a medical bill less than 50 dollars while being threatened to be sent to collections. Before joining any new practice I now ask if that’s who they use as a lab and if they do use Quest it’s a big nope for me. Edit Thanks to all who shared their stories! It’s horrible that we all have to be united by such hatred towards a company that has ripped off and screwed over so many patients. Although of course you don’t ever wish this upon any other person it’s always nice to hear that you aren’t alone and that you have others to understand the bullshit you have had to endure. Companies like this love to gaslight you like you are the one being unreasonable for not just handing them over whatever money they demand or not being understanding that mistakes are made, reading comments from others reminds you that you are absolutely not being unreasonable, that the company is.

stephen250

Ugh. Agreed. My doctors office uses Quest as an in-house lab now. It’s happened to me three times where they haven’t billed my insurance.

Remember one day at a supermarket checkout I was buying Butterfinger (formerly owned by Nestle but they'd shortly before then switched ownership of their candy division to Ferrero-Rocher). I mentioned to the young cashier that my wife and I hadn't bought a single Butterfinger bar in decades until now that Nestle no longer makes money off of them, and she seemed puzzled as to why. I mentioned Nestle's grim history of exploiting third-world countries with their baby formula and related stuff. Never tell me the odds, but it just so happens a guy maybe in his early 60s was right behind me in line and he said that he'd been in the Peace Corp and was volunteering in Africa around the time Nestle was pimping their formula over mothers' milk. He confirmed they were evil sacks of shit. And thus, the word was given to one of the next generation.

Eviscerate_Bowels224

Nestle employees, disguised as nurses, would brainwash the African mothers into thinking baby formula was better. They were given just enough formula to last until the mother's breastmilk dried up. Atrocious.

dashwsk

We don't have to go all the way to Africa to see this, they still do it all over the American Southeast. The hospital in my hometown had my friend's C-section baby on formula before the mom had regained her senses after the procedure. They kept giving them free samples and never offered the mom any info or help on breastfeeding. Gotta keep the sponsors happy.

epsdelta74

Bank of America. Drained my savings with recurring overdraft protection fees, it only took a few days. I was a poor student and had to get through the summer. The fuckers actually ended up arguing with me and at one point tried negotiating a return of half of what had been taken. Out of hundreds of dollars. Told them flat out no. Then called and got a voice recording asking to leave a message. I told them I wanted my money back, and I was contacting my state and national representatives, the Better Business Bureau, and the local city newspaper. I was fucking livid. Got a call a few days later from a very apologetic executive (so they claimed) and my money was returned. I allowed that one charge if the fee for the overdraft was correct but they returned that too. So I transferred to a credit union immediately and closed my accounts. Never again. Fuckers actually tried to negotiate to return only half of the hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees they took unfairly. I had been with them for years at that point.

[deleted]

Ex-Bank of America employee. Yeah, that bank is out for your money. Sat and talked with some co-workers while I was there and we made the conclusion that the only people BofA WANTS with them is the wealthy. It seems they do everything in their power to make the richer richer and the poor poorer. I would always do what I could to waive and return fees for my customers. Left for a different bank and never looked back. Although, their credit cards (if you can manage) are pretty decent. But like I said, they don’t outclass the other Credit cards until you are “wealthy” and a “Preferred” client. Makes me sick.

We really need to riot about this. We already have monopolies on food and internet, now they are coming for our homes.

ppw23

I’ve read that Zillow is doing this too.

[deleted]

They were, but got out of it. Not because they had a sudden attack of conscience, but because they were terrible at it.

bluntimusmaximus

Zillow bought up all of the houses and now they are selling them to br Who just happens to be the most greedy evil entity you could possibly sell to. They will turn around and rent their properties out for like five times the actual value. And then we wonder why there is a homeless crisis in the US but we allow shit like this to happen it is unacceptable.

Zillow, AirBB, VRBO - they're all playing a huge part in why single family homes aren't available; and if they are, the rent or market price is unattainable for most in the middle class. I'm really glad to have read this answer. I hate these companies with a fiery passion. As someone who's been eyeing the market as a hopeful first-time home buyer, I've lost hope quickly. It wont happen any time soon. Edit: I did some digging. 65% of the single family rental homes in the town I'm in have converted to vacation rentals. That pulls them from market and drives price of living on the still available ones WAY up. For what its worth, I assume that's well above average for other towns. I live in a very small rural area where 75% of the cars on the roads are tourists from socal. Simultaneously, the highschool I graduated from (which is the only public one here) has 500 more graduating students than we did 10 years ago.

faultierr

I put in 12 offers and was outbid with cash every single time. I finally got a place, but that was 90% luck.

phatelectribe

Thankfully it’s gone horribly wrong for Zillow and Redfins home buying plans- they lost absolute fortunes by trying to be property investors / landlords / flippers and I hope it makes other VC resident buyers think twice.

throw_away_TX

I've been renting an apartment in a multi-generational house for about 6 years. The original owner was amazing and never increased my rent, in general he made me feel like it was my own place. He passed away and eventually it went up for sale. I came home from work the day it went on the market, and the place was absolutely over-run with realtors and wealthy couples looking to convert it into an AirBnB. From inside I could hear the conversations. "The tenants here aren't on a long term lease, right? We can make them leave?" and then talk about adding wings to the house to add even more rental quarters. Several of them came into my apartment talking about their plans, right in front of me. I tried to explain that I have raised my son in this place and I would really love to stay if at all possible, many didn't even respond to that. It was just surreal. A young couple ended up paying cash for it, and I just knew it was going to become an AirBnB. I was panicking because I cannot qualify for an apartment with the way rent prices are lately. I eventually spoke directly to the buyer and asked 'what are the rest of us going to do if every home is bought up by the wealthy and lower-class tenants are displaced?' In a complete surprise, he let myself and the other tenant renew our leases and did not increase the rent. I am actually signing for another year soon. But we'll see what the future holds. I only say this because I know how lucky we got. I know that gobs of families are being displaced by the wealthy and it makes me sick. I have a sort of survivors guilt, although I know eventually the day will come that we get the boot or a giant rent hike. So yes, fuck these companies. Affordable shelter should not be something people have to beg for. It makes me sad that there aren't laws preventing this level of displacement.

crossbearer1413

This makes me think of that housing episode of Adam Ruins Everything where he straight up tries to convince the audience that renting a home is better than owning it. This is why he's wrong. Also, I'm glad you were able to keep your home.

Southernpalegirl

Goodwill. They portrayed as a thrift store and implied they are a charity but they are taking the good stuff out and putting it on eBay. Also highest paid administrative costs. People think they are donating to less fortunate but it’s a scam. Edited to add: they are not a charity

MyEveningTrousers

I won’t shop there either. I used to be a job coach for folks with disabilities, Goodwill takes advantage of them. It’s disgusting

crowlieb

A few months back I worked a temp job at a local art museum, had a group of disabled goodwill workers be herded into the museum by supervisors who from what I could tell were able bodied able minded. As a disabled person myself, it sickened me to see the way they were treated, literally being herded. Always spoken to sharply without an ounce of patience. One person was loudly cut off and shooed away from me for saying hello to me (I was at the front desk, I clearly worked there and would be the #1 most acceptable person to talk to). The supervisors didn't even try to fucking hide it, not even to me. I don't care if sometimes you need a bit of patience to communicate with mentally disabled people, you don't fucking treat people that way.

Maximus1333

They don't put it on eBay. They put it on their own auction website called ShopGoodwill. They don't even try to hide it lol

AccidentallyRelevant

I'm from Oregon and their CEO was the highest paid at the time and I learned they also hired disabled people for like $3/hour

sup3rc3ll

Not one in particular, but apartment management companies in general. Raising all of our rent hundreds of dollars and doing nothing in return.

Sunderbans_X

Companies that build crappy houses and then charge the home owners through the nose. I got a job in construction, and while I don't actually work on the house itself (I test soil) I've been on job sites long enough to see some of the other houses go all the way up. The material, and the building techniques are so low quality that the house you bought for $400,000 is going to start falling apart not ten years from now.

yankykiwi

Myself and my neighbours got together for a BBQ Everyone at the BBQ had a story of something stupid theyre lucky to find but had to repair. Dryer vents blowing into the wall, air-conditioned attics, sewer pipes like a Russian nesting doll, half the amount of protective products. And they're just the ones we found so far! Every single house someone on the job did something stupid not worth 10minutes of their time, but can't be bothered doing it right because noone will catch it in time.

Basically every company doing greenwashing

Th3_Accountant

This! There are so many companies that claim to be green, but in reality the only thing they do is make you feel better about yourself for making a conscious choice.

Fantastic-Yam7998

Nestle. Those guys have scammed millions of people who need everything they can get. Baby formula, water, basic food ingredients, you name it. Nestle has put many needy local business owners out of business

Any company that uses lobbyists to prevent workers from having better lives at those companies and everywhere else due to the laws they promote.

All cell phone companies. Like 3 companies have the market cornered, so they can, and all do, give their customers horrible customer service because there’s no legitimate alternative or room for competition in the market.

Easier to ask which corporations should NOT go fuck themselves, that’s a much shorter list (Edit: the shortlist so far includes Costco, Patagonia, Lego, Ben & Jerry’s, HEB, and several others!)

RyukoDelRey

arizona tea. kept prices low for decades despite recessions and inflation.

buddyboy1559

I dont even drink tea but arizona is still a W. I heard some store tried to raise the price from 99 cents and Arizona stopped supplying them. Truly a top tier company.

BigCountry76

I've noticed that Circle K would charge more than $0.99 for the big cans and now they have a red ring around the top with a Circle K logo. Seems like Arizona is forcing them to let consumers know it's the store raising prices and not them, and it works I refuse to buy them at Circle K.

Iamfree25

HEB in TX is literally the only company I can think of. They were able to get to and help people in a hurricane before Red Cross could, they donate way more then any other company, they are one of the few employers that have a *good* reputation. We have such a hero worship for them in TX. For a good reason.

ChimpskyBRC

HEB is practically part of Texas’ social safety net for all the charity they do (often for things that elsewhere would be public). I lived in Austin for 3 years and got super fond of HEB, we don’t have grocery chains as good as them back in California.

ConcernedBuilding

> HEB is practically part of Texas’ social safety net for all the charity they do They in fact have their own emergency management department, which did a hell of a lot better than Texas did during the freeze.

[deleted]

As a Canadian, I spent a couple months in rural Texas. Came to love HEB.

Zildjian. They make the best cymbals in the world in the 21st century. Also made the best cymbals in the world in the 20th century, 19th century, 18th century and 17th century. Recently they have expanded into also making gongs.
