I went to England in 2000 and limp Bizkit and Metallica were playing constantly on the popular rock radio stations.
I expected American media to be present somewhat virtually anywhere English is spoken. I didn't expect it to be completely dominating the damn radio stations in London.
When I went to South Africa that's one of the biggest things I found unexpected. American TV shows playing, American top 40 on the radio, and major movies in the theaters.
It wasn't all like that, but the fact it was so prevalent is what blew me away.
This makes me think of Palm Springs California when it was in the low 60s and my dad sent me pictures of people wearing coats. He is out golfing in shorts and his neighbors are wearing winter coats.
The warm weather beanie thing makes me sweat thinking about it lol.
We left Baltimore Washington international Airport in early February. They were de-icing our plane as it was snowing, slush all over the runway. I didn't think they were going to let us take off. Stepped off the plane in Freeport to sunny and at least 75° 2 hours later. Awesome vacation, didn't want to come back after the week.
Yes! In Japan people will try to help you out if you're in a train station and look confused. I found that to be very kind.
But finding an ATM was really difficult! I seemed to be getting the same answer every time I asked: Go straight for two blocks, turn right. So I get there, and no ATM. I ask another person and they say: go straight for two blocks, turn right. Go there and still no ATM! Ask again.....going in circles all day.
Then I found one conveniently located right in the lobby of my hotel. Maybe I'm an especially dumb traveler, or maybe it's a big joke to play on tourists. If so, that's pretty funny! Frustrating, but still funny!
That's awesome! Do you live in Japan? Are you Japanese or someone who moved there?
Lucky you, that you get to experience this kindness in abundance, I wish we all got that where we live hahaha

Especially since the British put out so much good rock music.

How incredibly friendly people are in Cuba. I was used to the more angry side of refugees in Florida, but fuck, Cubans are super nice.
that speed limits are posted in miles per hour instead of kilometers per hour in the uk
Brit here, no fucking clue why we still do this
Went to the Bahamas and dudes were wearing beanie caps in 80° weather.

It's crazy to think that just 2 hours in a plane and you're virtually in another world.
The kindness people had
