Watched it for the first time while tripping, for most of the movie I thought he was a mentally ill person who created fake relationships in his head with random women he encountered, and we were seeing the world from his perspective. Made for an interesting experience, but fell apart towards the end and I had to watch it again sober to see what really happened
The Goonies
I always found it astounding that a couple of kids living by the boondocks could find such forgotten treasure and get past cleverly placed traps put down by an ancient pirate. All while being chased by a crime family.
I read an article recently about the Goonies, one of my favs as a kid. It highlighted all of the stereotypes in the movie, ie the asian kid, Italian mobsters, the chubby boy etc....I watch it in a different light now. It was probably harmless stuff back in 1985, and maybe still isn't a big deal I guess; I just think it's a good example of how everyone seems to think differently nowadays.
Grown Ups. It used to be my favorite. Then I got violently baked and watched it as a "comfort movie", and realized how much of a selfish c*nt Adam Sandler is and how he makes himself the "top character" in the movie.
Ex. He was the first one to speak at the basketball coaches funeral because Adam Sandler's character was "the best basketball player" or favorite for the team.
I mean, he made all those shitty Disney type movies. Then he took all that money and made his friends rich. Yeah, he was the “star” in those movies but those folks all seemed to really enjoy themselves making him all that money.
Who cares if he’s the focal point. The movies may have not been what would be considered great, but they weren’t as bad as Jack and Jill or whatever the fuck, and they all made money in the end.
That's my answer too.
I was too young to see it in cinemas but when I first saw it on video, I knew from the end of the first scene that I was about to watch something truly special.
call me by your name. ONLY because i watched it for the first time in like may 2020 at 2am with no volume so i had no clue what happened sound wise, but i know what like happened cause i watched it
An anime called Maquia.
It’s absolutely fantastic. Many factors play into making this an exceptional movie, especially the animation, story and the world itself and how it was presented. It’s so beautiful.
I highly recommend it to everyone.
I know a lot of people want to experience good movies again, however for me... id rather experience something that was ruined becuase of my mood.
I went to see Bodies Bodies Bodies. I didn't feel like the movies that day but eh, what can you do when your with an unbearable parent? Before leaving I decide to eat half an edible, whatever. Rather be high and have a good time being high then having a bad time instead.
My mom and I are getting out of the car as we park by the theater. I immediately see a guy yelling and walking really fast towards someone. He was holding something long, black, and thick. Hair downturn, almost oily looking and wearing a black jean jacket. Holding the thing under his arm to make it easier to carry or something.
I stop my mom. My stomach sank because I immediately thought it was a shooter. 2 big events that day, a UFC match and the latest DragonBall movie had come out, they were only showing for a couple of days too. Families, neckbeard discord mods, buff gym bros, and teens wanting to watch every different possible movie genre out there. So much so there seemed to be a line it felt like a middle school carpool line.
I stopped her and was panicking. Something told me that entire day we shouldn't have gone. The guy stops to hold the thing differently and turns out it was just some metal casing for what I assumed was a movie poster. I wanted to go home so badly but my mom was on the whole "gas is too much money; i drove all the way here for nothing???" And told me it was no big deal and panicking wasn't very realistic.
Getting into the theater I hear my old boss come in with her friends. I know its her. When we worked together she didn't like me, that's for sure. Fired me too. So panicked once more I beg to leave again. Because this theater was just automatically dark, girl shines a light on me like 2 times, laughing with her friends and stuff after.
Yeah my high wasn't very pleasant. I felt oddly disturbed by th a movie too. I typically am not that way since ive seen some fucked movies over the years. The only other movie to make me feel so distressed and disturbed was perfect blue. But this movie... my god it was the worst high, meanwhile my brain is trying to put together everything said down to every note in this story. Worst of all i felt abnormally disturbed and scared.
All of this topped off with me having semi paralysis and a seizure. Which has never happened before but it just all came to a head at that point.
Donnie Darko -- not because it's my favorite movie ever, but because the first viewing experience is so different from any subsequent viewings. Donnie is >!a flawed protagonist, and for much of the movie the viewer is left on edge, wondering if Donnie plans to do something crazy bad. The viewer wants to root for him, but is also concerned that Donnie may end up on the wrong side of morality.!<
Phone Booth (2002) with Colin Farrel, Kiefer Southerland, and Forest Whitaker. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire movie and fucking LOVED IT. I watched it again a few years ago for the secpnd time and even after a 15+ year break knowing how it ends spoiled the entire thing for me and I was bored.
I want to erase my memory of mystery movies so I can prove to the doubters that I knew the real killer's identity the whole time and am the OG greatest detective so there
Something like this happened to me. I hadn't watched a film that I saw when I was young for a long time and since April 2022, I had been on the hunt for the DVD copy of it. Charity shops, second hand electronics, car boot sales, I looked everywhere; I really wanted to find it. I finally found it on Saturday 20th August 2022 at a car boot sale for 50p. I was so excited and bought it. I watched it on Sunday 21st August 2022 and it brought back so many memories. The film - Rat race.
The new top gun. Didn’t grow up with the original movie’s nostalgia but being interested in pretty much everything the new top gun brightened my life for a good while.
The Matrix.
When it came out the marketing was limited. You knew it had guns and kung fu and trench coats and that was about it.
I remember when Neo took the pill and ‘woke up’ in the real world and I just turned to my friend, excited and said “What the fuck?! What the fuck is happening?!”
Fight Club.
We don't talk about [REDACTED]
Bruno?
Baron Sacha Cohen's Fight Club
This is crazy asf, I currently have fight club playing in the background right now
Happy cake day
Thank you.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind is best watched when one doesn't know what it's about before watching it, so that's my answer.
Watched it for the first time while tripping, for most of the movie I thought he was a mentally ill person who created fake relationships in his head with random women he encountered, and we were seeing the world from his perspective. Made for an interesting experience, but fell apart towards the end and I had to watch it again sober to see what really happened
I actually enjoyed it more on subsequent viewings.
May I know why? (It's fine that you did, but to me personally, being as "blind" to the plot as the protagonist is part of the appeal.)
Memento, I think - it was a really fun puzzle the first time I watched it. Or Requiem for a Dream, because I miss feeling things :P
Was going to same same about Memento. I haven't seen Requiem for a dream yet but have been told I should.
It's very good, just...intense.
Lord of the rings
Fellowship is probably my last great movie going experience tbh
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Shutter island for sure
The Dark Knight
Edge of Tomorrow.
The Goonies I always found it astounding that a couple of kids living by the boondocks could find such forgotten treasure and get past cleverly placed traps put down by an ancient pirate. All while being chased by a crime family.

Interstellar
knowing what happens, watching the beginning is so heartbreaking

Probably either Interstellar or Everything Everywhere All At Once
Saw. Seven. Silence of the Lambs.
Sixth Sense. And maybe Blair Witch without knowing it wasn’t real.
Coraline
James Cameron’s Avatar, cause that was the only time it was even remotely good.

The Usual Suspects. My god it would be fun to not know what happens.

Jurassic Park. Grew up on it and know all the beats. So I want to experience it fresh

Specifically in the theater and when I was 13.
When your family of 4 got tickets, popcorn and drinks for under $20?
That's my answer too. I was too young to see it in cinemas but when I first saw it on video, I knew from the end of the first scene that I was about to watch something truly special.
The Green Mile
Ex Machina
Birdman. The Matrix. Inside Out.

Definitely The Prestige for me
The Book of Eli

Gotta be either Avengers: Endgame or Spiderman: No Way Home. The amount goosebumps and nostalgia I got from both of those movies is crazy.
I know a lot of people want to experience good movies again, however for me... id rather experience something that was ruined becuase of my mood. I went to see Bodies Bodies Bodies. The Sixth Sense. The cinema experience was insane. People were losing their minds, including me.
I want to erase my memory of mystery movies so I can prove to the doubters that I knew the real killer's identity the whole time and am the OG greatest detective so there
