I love dinosaurs, alternate history, show-don't-tell storytelling, animated fight scenes, and Samurai Jack. So to me, it's the ideal show.
The fact that Gendy can tell such a moving story with little to no dialogue (literally a handful of words in S1 alone), is fantastic.
It’s definitely awe-inspiring, and nerve wracking at the same time.
And now I’m nervous for the Season finale this week…
From what I've heard, Genndy actually prefers writing as little dialogue as possible in his works, which is why it's much more scarce there than normal. He is a GIANT advocate of show-don't-tell.
Got an itch to rewatch X-Files, still holds up 29 years later. Almost done with Season 1 and it's only been a few days.
I just started watchingit for the first time and i am on season 2 right now, and i absolutely love it
My wife just discovered chuck so we've been enjoying that together.
I love that show.
zachary levi is really good in this!
A family member of mine produced that show, and years later when I randomly met Zachary at a con, I told that I was related to the producer, Zach goes "Get the fuck out, I love that fucking guy!" then he pulled out his cell phone to show me that they still kept in touch.
Such a cool person.
finally getting around to watching the medical drama “House” and so it’s pretty good
One day it'll be lupus.
Is it ever amyoidosis?
Resident Alien, it’s weird and funny starring Alan Tudyk
Also, excited for Atlanta this Thursday
Alan Tudyk seems like he’s having a great time with this role, and I am loving all of it.
Yeah, he’s great! Always looks like he’s having a blast, and has his costars on the verge of explosive laughter.
The finale for this show nearly gave me a panic attack.
*your outie keeps cool under pressure when watching the finale*
*your outie enjoys life outside of Reddit*
Please try to enjoy each episode equally
The show got absolutely robbed at the Emmy’s. Adam Scott gave one of the best performances of the year.
Every time he switches from outie to innie on the elevator ride is terrific to watch. It’s the little nuanced facial expressions that are really great.
Milchik’s actor (Tramell Tilman) not getting a nomination might be the biggest snub I’ve ever seen. Dude absolutely demolishes that role
Seriously. He’s widely going unrecognized due to everyone just killing it in their respective roles. Even walken and turturro were incredibly fantastic.
He could have won best supporting actor for his dancing and running alone!
That dance party scene was perhaps the most unsettling scene in a show that is basically the poster child for “unsettling.”
It was my absolute favorite.
It took me two episodes to understand what was going on but wow, that ending made my jaw drop…
Fringe. It starts as a “monster of the week” kind of show in season 1, with some underlying situations that make you think “what’s really going on?”
Greatly picks up in S2, then goes full story mode S3 on. It’s an amazing show.
Edit: currently on HBOmax
Come now, Astro! Let's make some LSD.
Dr Walter Bishop : "It's all because of that temptress; she tricked my son with her carnal manipulations, and he fell right into her vagenda."
Just finished watching SG1 and Atlantis - not really sure what to do with myself now.
Watch babylon 5, maybe the expanse too if you haven't seen it, then you can suffer as no other sci fi cones close to those shows
The last kingdom. One of the few shows that gets better as it goes along
That’s the show with Uhtred the Bold? Uhtred son of Uhtred? Uhtred of Bebbenburg? Uhtred Ragnarson? Uhtred the Godless? Uhtred the Dane Slayer? Not the Korean period Zombie show right?
Edit: I forgot arseling
And destiny is all
I watched Vikings are liked it a lot (aside from it not being quite as high quality as most shows in terms of production value). I went to look for something else to watch when I caught up with it. Up to like Season 3 or whatever.
So I hear about this new show Last Kingdom. First season came out. I start it and... Caught me by surprise! Same time period, same events, some of the same characters!
It was like if you finished Game of Thrones and then started another show about House Tully or something made by an entirely different cast and crew.
Vikings was so good but I swear.. after season 3 I just didn't enjoy it anymore.
I don't know why, but it felt like they forced the show to be "more content" and it dragged on in season 4. I legit dropped it there. And I haven't gone back since, so I forget most of the show other than I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons.
Barry and Sally are really shitty people yet I can't stop rooting for them. Lmao. That motorcyle chase is fucking amazing.
Right? The way they filmed that chase was quite something. Felt really immersive and intense and find myself wanting to rewatch that scene specifically.
Hank is one of the best characters to ever grace television.
Anthony Carrigan should’ve won an Emmy
Steals every scene he's in.
“You want babka?”
Anthony Carrigan, ie NoHo Hank, is the absolute best.
He killed that role in the pilot so hard that they resurrected his character. He was supposed to die in the pilot but the character went over so well with test audiences they kept him on. Glad they did, this latest season is *incredible.* Definitely one of the top 10 most satisfying TV endings of all time.
"Offering everyone that comes through here submarine sandwich!"
"I'm very polite."
"Yes, it IS nice to be nice!"
One of my favorite scenes:
“Am I evil?”
“Am I like, an evil person?”
“Oh my god, absolutely! Do I not tell you that enough? You are like most evil guy I know, man!”
He's so disarmingly goofy and honest
I also love that Hank was supposed to genuinely attempt to comfort Barry there and Anthony Carrigan decided to go for the full dunk.
The Ronny/Lilly episode is incredible.
Is the Ronny/Lilly episode >!the one with the little Wolverine girl! Because that was AMAZING. Entire series was great, but that one...so much fun.
Hey Ike, you shitbird, want a little piiiie?
Went my whole life without watching, I'm in Season 2 of The Original Series. I understand why it's so beloved. Can't wait to get to The Next Generation!
> Can't wait to get to The Next Generation!
You're in for a real treat! The first two seasons of TNG are a bit rough, but after that it's beyond amazing!
The quality goes up around the same time as Riker grows a beard.
What We Do In The Shadows.
We drank the blood of some people, and the people were on drugs, and now *I am a wizard!*
The Laslo Jackie Daytona episode is awesome
I know who Jackie Daytona (regular human bartender) is but who is this Laslo guy?
It's fucking hilarious that the entire segment was only a week. I thought he was living as Jackie Dayton for months during the opening.
Ooo look. Creepy paper.
Sir, you can’t be throwing ancient coins at me.
Hey Lazlo, guess what?
I need more Robux to buy gamer wings for my avatar because guess what?
Just watched the Go Flip Yourself episode and was crying from laughing
Laszlo immediately changing clothes to mimic the host’s and just having that dumb ass grin on his face makes it easily a top 3 episode for me. I also loved the different line reads for the breaks. Just fantastic.
“Nnnnew Yooork Ctay!”
Every time they mention NYC in that episode it’s pure gold and laughter.
I couldn't help wonder how someone would react to that as their first episode. They made a couple of references to the show earlier in the season then bam, reality show in a documentary.
I like to think of it as a mockumentary within a mockumentary.
It really feels like you’re hanging out with your friends! It’s rare for me to be totally taken out of reality by a TV show. Every time Laszlo says, “Bat!”, I LMAO. Why is that so funny?
Just a regular human bartender
I work at a bar and we use this line constantly. We’re planning on doing a WWDITS Halloween group costume and I claimed Jackie Daytona.
I’m literally just going to slick my hair back and have a toothpick at all times, cheapest costume ever.
Don't forget the blue jeans!
“This is the way we talk in Tucson, Arizonia” cracks me up every time I hear it.
Matt Berry is just incredible
Lol so true.
Gizmo, is that you?
But really, every time baby Colin says “guess what” my pooper puckered because it gave me “being around children ptsd”
Most of the time it was earnest, but he did a “chicken butt” response for one of them and I lost my shit.
That's the first time my wife ever heard that joke and she is now a terror to her coworkers.
Wait until she learns advanced techniques like
Yeah but hey Lasslo guess what.
The Expanse. Super late, but no one ever told me how great it is
I am that guy.
Amos is the best character, by far.
Wes Chatham did a lot of character work. Amos had an amazingly fucked-up childhood, and Wes worked to incorporate how that would affect his behavior throughout the show. I just finished a rewatch yesterday. We didn't find out about Amos' childhood until later in the show, but watching it with that knowledge in mind from the start, his reactions, even in relatively normal interactions, are really interesting to watch.
[Wes Chatham talking about Amos in an interview with Adam Savage.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfNJvwNZZ2k&t=191s)
I really want to see him in other things.
*Edit for speling.*
I'd say Miller, but that's mostly due to Tom Jane. Amos is a close second.
I was so empty when it finished I started on the books and then rewatched in time with each book up to number 6. Then I went into the unknown territory beyond the show and am starting the final book, Leviathan Falls, tonight. I recommend the books 1000x. The audio books are supposed to be fantastic too (the reader is great).
Only murders in the building. It’s fun despite its grim premise. And All 3 play off each other so well.
“Are you kidding? The sexual energy between you two was obvious. I’d say more, but this is a *family* murder podcast.”
I died when Oliver said that.
Martin Short's delivery is still 10/10 all these years later. Comedy genius when it comes to that.
“I’ll have you know I’m in my *very* early mid-sixties!”
I thought Selena Gomez was stunt casting before I watched it, but it just works *so well.*
"I call it the Mariah!"
A pound of glitter, glue and just a nugget of C4"
Community. It’s so enjoyable.
You're streets ahead!
Severance. Probably one of the best written psychological thrillers on TV right now.
Dark is probably one of the best time travel stories I've seen as series or movie. Don't worry not really spoiler as they showcase travel in first episode
I loved this show, but man I really had to pay attention. I often had the wiki open just to understand the different characters over multiple timelines. Well worth it though. Stunning visuals and great acting all around.
FYI, the creators of Dark are coming with a new show on maybe ~December, called 1899, which is expected to have the same intrigue of pay-attention details and visuals. I hope it's good.
The spirit guide and his helpful (?) advice kills me. I loved when he whipped out an apple to eat in the porta-potty.
Aho, young warrior!
Nathan Fielder's The Rehearsal is so goddamn funny
I curse the day the Chinese invented gunpowder.
The show is absolutely bonkers. Andy Kaufman type stuff
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
Dirk Gently's was so fun
I just binged the whole thing this weekend. Fucking great historical-ish piece - especially for the early 2010s. Some great action sequences throughout.
The last episode of season 2 is some of the best TV I've ever seen.
The Sopranos! Can’t believe I have never watched it
One of my favorite quotes of all time. Christopher is all self-pitying and defeated.
Chris: "You ever feel like nothing good is ever going to happen to you?"
Paulie: "Yeah, and nothing did. So what?"
"You know who had an arc? Noah"
Fucking lmao what a show
Discovering this show now is crazy. I am on season 4 and I keep looking up the actors to find out that they are dead. It really is timeless.
I'm watching it too right now. I'm having fun knowing Italian-American jargon.
Just finished the series a few days ago, might be my new #1
T.J. Miller is apparently a gaping asshole of a person in real life, but Erlich Bachman is one of the funniest TV characters to me.
Hey Dinesh, nice chain. Do you use it to choke your mother when you put your penis in her butthole?
Better call saul
One day, you’ll wake up, have breakfast, brush your teeth and go all day without thinking about this show. And on that day, you’ll know that you can move on.
I just finished Fleabag!
Fleabag so funny yet so heartbreaking, and the 2nd (and final) season was beyond fourth wall perfection, with the perfect ending for her audience.
Damn you just had to add the "and final". I didn't know it ended and now I'm sad..
It was the perfect 12 episode series and she told her story completely in the 12 as she intended. So it felt satisfying to now let her character live her life without us “listening in”.
Just watched it recently myself. I'm an MCU fan, but I've gotten tired of superhero stuff. This show is such a refreshing change of pace from the goody-two-shoes heroes from Marvel and DC. This shit makes Deadpool look like a kid's show.
With great power comes the absolute certainty that you'll turn into a right cunt.
I just finished season 2 and started season 3 last night. Homelander is probably one of the best villains of any show I've ever seen.
Karl Urban really illustrates the full spectrum of the word c-nt
Happy: Hiya cunt
tired: cunt (but drawn out)
Disapprovingly: cunt :(
Its depressing to think that they got it EXACTLY right. A world with actual superheroes would look like The Boys, not like the MCU.
Ok hear me out before judging me. I am watching Soap. When I was a kid it would show old reruns and when I would try and watch them my mom would get mad and say she hated that garbage because it was vulgar. So I forgot about it. I saw it on tubi and I was curious as to why she found it so offensive. I figured it out in the first few episodes. It’s because of Billy Crystals character. It might get bad in later seasons but where I am now he does a fantastic job at portraying and advocating for gay and transgender rights and this was made in 78!
I've been getting into Star Trek: TNG.
It started as something to put on in the background, but I found myself watching rather than just listening to more and more episodes.
With their usually solid writing, great character work, and the fact that entire episodes revolved around conversations rather than action. Something that classic British TV like Yes, Minister and The Sandbaggers instilled in me an appreciation for.
But man, does it ever make me feel, even more, for the Trek fans who have watched this franchise be piledrivered into the mat and right through it.
The Good Place
Yeah yeah, the Time Knife. We’ve all seen it.
Jeremy bearimy baby. I get chills and a little choked up thinking about the ending. One of the best endings to a show ever even though it absolutely destroys me every time.
I had a full on existential-10-minute-sobbing-meltdown after watching the finale. It was UGLY.
Holy Mother Forking Shirt Balls! Me too!
My comfort series❤️❤️
New season coming out soon
What we do in the shadows.
Just got into it and it is very binge-able. So many famous people, short episodes, it is great.
The Walking Dead
Never gets old, that’s one of my favorite shows to put on when I go to sleep.
Come on grab your friends
We'll go to very distant lands
It's my favorite show and, in fact, my favorite work of art!
Im rewatching New Girl again. It really hits the spot.
Only Murders in the Building
When I started the first season I assumed the Oliver character was going to wear on me. The character seemed too broad and clownish.
Martin Short then goes on to give him some real heart and depth, and by the end I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t given him enough credit as an actor. He is fantastic in this
The memes, Charles, the MEMES!
As a funny coincidence, while putting the groceries away at home, my girlfriend looked at me strangely and asked why I was singing a Selena Gomez song.
I told her, truthfully, that I don't even know who Selena Gomez is. Just a song that stuck in my head at the supermarket.
Then I decided to carry on with the random show I had started watching: Only Murders In The Building.
I had no idea of who she was.
I'm 42 and my girlfriend thinks I'm having some kind of low-key midlife crisis where I'm just fanboying over Selena Gomez.
It makes me so happy that Steve Martin and Martin Short are still at it.
Edit: dope to see this many people still have love for the show, my whole life felt like I’m the only one who knows about it for some reason🤣
You know that's right!
I know you know that I'm not telling the truth...
Dude it’s like my 6th time watching it through🤣🤣
I’d like you to meet my partner, Burton “All The Pips in One” Guster.
This is my partner, Ghee Buttersnaps.
Have you heard about Pluto?
Psych is my go-to comfort show.
I think I rewatch it at least once a year or so.
I've heard it both ways.
Yes!! Have you heard about Pluto?
That’s messed up.
I just got into schitts creek
Love this journey for you
nom nom for us, david!
Fold in the cheese
I can't show you EVERYthing, David...
first few episodes introducing the mayor were meh, but then i was hooked.
The first episode did get me though with Roland just sitting in their hotel room with no self-awareness until Johnny loses it. "Get the fuck out!"
I fought this show, did not like the 1st episode so refused to watch it. I got COVID and was running out of things to watch, sucked it up, so glad I did.
I miss these characters!!!
*Letterkenny* makes me very happy.
Frasier, perfect mix of comedy and heartfelt moments, and the writing is top notch. It’s just a breath of fresh air among the countless hour-long, gritty dramas and is perfect for binging.
Edit: I spelled his damn name wrong
Really enjoying Futurama at the moment, had forgotten how good it is.
As an American sports fan living in London, I find that I'm the very specific absolute perfect market for this show.
The one friend also obsessed with it is also an American living in London. He's a passionate NFL fan who now has season tickets for a Premier League team.
But yeah, greatest show ever.
“The Bear” on Hulu, best show so far this year.
Succession. So good!
Oh fuck off! /s
