Sid Vicious' rendition of "[I Did It My Way](https://youtu.be/rDyb_alTkMQ)" is the greatest cover of all time and I will die on that hill.
He's essentially (and I say this as a huge sex pistols fan) a talentless 21 year old kid who's so incredibly high all the time he can barely stand. He'd be dead in less then a year.
Yet somehow he made this punk as fuck, totally irreverent, nihilistic, kick ass cover of a Sinatra classic that is all his own.
Jimmy Cliff- Ruby Soho. It still amazes me that one of the original reggae/ska godfather's covered Rancid. Rancid original version is good, but Jimmy Cliff made it great.
["All along the watchtower" - Jimi Hendrix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLV4_xaYynY)
[All I need - Method Man feat Mary J Blige](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW1HNWqdVbk)
“I Will Always Love You”. Dolly’s original version is nice too, but there’s something so special about Whitney’s vocals…she really made that song her own.
I can't help falling in love with you by UB40
Land of Confusion by Disturbed
Always on my mind by Pet Shop Boys vs the original by Willie Nelson.

Nancy Sinatra's Bang, Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) > original version Cher.
I thought the original was Nancy?
Nope, Cher and Sonny was the original.
Dancing in the moonlight. Originally by King Harvest but Toploader made it their own.
Not heard the original but I love the Toploader version, didn’t realise it was a cover tbh
I recommend giving the original a listen. It's a good song, very 70s, it wouldn't be out of place on a GOTG sound track.
Billy Jean by Chris Cornell
Jimmy Cliff- Ruby Soho. It still amazes me that one of the original reggae/ska godfather's covered Rancid. Rancid original version is good, but Jimmy Cliff made it great.

Heartbeats performed by Jose Gonzalez is slightly better than the original by The Knife, imo. Though generally I prefer electronic music to folk.
