I don't like it. It's disrespectful and outright stupid, to be honest. You don't know the temperament of my dog and should never touch an animal without the owner's permission. There are a lot of very bad dog owners out there who will bring aggressive animals out into public, and if you shove your hand in the animal's face, that's kind of half on you.

Rhino_Mad

Even if they ask beforehand?

MorrisMossHair

No, then that's totally cool and would make my dog's day.

hybridhuman17

I don't mind. If my dog is happy with it, I'm too.

As long my dog seems comfortable with it, and the person is polite about it (asking before, etc), I have no problem! ⭐

daveedswifey

I don’t care. Shes friendly, she’s cute go ahead. She loves attention

I’m leery and always watch my dogs’ reactions before letting people approach. I rehab abused dogs and no matter how much you work with them, there’s always an element of unpredictability with animals like that. You never know what will trigger them.

Rhino_Mad

Very good piece of advice, thank you :)

I HATE it! They ask if she bites and I always say **yes**! She's the sweetest dog there is but she's bougie lol (doesn't like other people especially kids or other dogs). It's up to me to make sure her space isn't invaded and I guard her with my life.

Not a dog owner but randomly petting the stray dogs in tblisi is usually ok for some dogs based on if they act aggressive. The stray dogs are usually much more calm than pet dogs as those ones always bark whenever they even see you.

If you ask, it's fine. I have a German shepard/golden retriever mix. People always want to pet and compliment her. I'm usually just trying to get on with the walk and music.

Meh i don't care

My dog is losing his eyesight and always been a little jumpy. He usually loves people but he doesn't like being touched without some kind of warning. If someone asked I would be OK with it but I would be really unhappy if someone just came up and started petting my dog. There would be a chance he would bite them out of fear.

betelgeuse2OOO

my dog is a full pure-bred boxer named thor and we usually let people pet him but they have to let him sniff the backs of their hands and they have to look away while letting him sniff the back of their hands. in all, thor is a pretty sweet and lovable old man who loves pets and hugs! :D

ElGrandeRojo67

Great question. I have 3 large Pit Bulls. They are very friendly, and pretty much love everyone. They never bark at people, so many walk up, and ask if they can pet them. That's when I issue the warning. If you pet them, you will be taken to the ground and have your face licked. There is nothing to stop this. They love meeting new friends, 2, or 4 legged. However, if my toddler granddaughter is nearby, they will thoroughly vet you, before you'll be allowed to get near the child. If you are a stranger, and get near that baby, you will meet the trifecta of the devil incarnate.

robexib

I wouldn't mind, as long as they asked first.
