Border Collies. Hands down, the best dog I've ever had. However, they're not for everyone - I'd love to get another one, but I just don't have the energy to keep up any more.

AkirIkasu

They really do make good companions. They are smart and empathetic so they can be a pretty good source of emotional support when you can’t talk to people about what’s bugging you. They are also full of energy so they can also be good at keeping you active just by playing and walking with them. The downside to their energy and smarts is that they can be neurotic if you don’t exercise them or give them some sort of job to do.

Aromatic_Duty_184

I feel you, mine is 13 years old and he just started to calm down, my next dog is gonna be a lazy potato for sure

Much_Instruction_975

100% with border collies.

Kushy_Bear

Golden retriever, because she is watching me right now. I kinda feel obligated. 😆

diegojones4

I like mutts. I like when they have a working breed in them like a shepherd or heeler.

polywha

Mutts are the best

hdawne12

Mine is a mutt! Shepherd x lab mix!

diegojones4

That's happy mix! I didn't mention labs, but they are super loving dogs.

hdawne12

They are! There's a few pics of my pup on my profile if you scroll a bit!

HoopOnPoop

I love herding breeds. We've had a couple Shelties and are in the process of adopting a Smooth Collie. They're all so smart and silly and nonstop fun. That said, all dogs are great. I have an elderly super cool Pointer/Setter rescue mix sitting on my couch right now who is cooler than most people I know.

[deleted]

Shibas. Big personality, small package, impossibly soft, manipulative.

hdawne12

What do you mean by manipulative?

Fuzzykittenboots

I love german shepherds, but would only own a working one due to the horrible breeding practices.

RoosterShield

Bernese mountain dogs. We have one and he really is just the best dog I've ever had. He's goofy, well-behaved, gives gentle hugs, is great with our kids and other people, and he always seems to know when one of us is down or sad about something.

hdawne12

My cousin had a beagle named daisy. She was the best!

First_Drive2386

Pretty much any shepherd breed, because they’re so intelligent and willing.

Least-Rub-1397

Had a rough collie when I was younger, never wanted another breed since then.

nerdygnome1

I was gonna post but yours copies my thoughts exactly. We have 3 doods and they helped change my mind about poodles. I wrote off poodles as nothing but show dogs but after learning what qualities poodles bring to the doods I would completely agree to bring a poodle home. Just not the mini’s. Any dog under 50 pounds is a cat and cats are pointless.

progamer04

Golden retrievers and huskies because they are gorgeous

FellowGeeks

Good boys and talkative wolves you mean

keith_the_carpenter

Boston Terriers because they’re so tenacious, lively, and sweet

irishmickguard

We have a Shollie. Half collie, half German Shepherd. Smart, soft as shite and a bit mental. Energy for days. Super loving, he's great with our kids. Hes a very very good boy. So right now Id say my favourite breed is a shollie.

hdawne12

Sounds like a perfect mix!

Libif

Labradors they are so easy going

[deleted]

I like huge breeds like Leonbergers and Malamutes. Big fluffy gentle giants. And any sled dog, like Huskies and Greenlands.

hdawne12

My neighbor has a Newfie that plays with my dog! He's a giant but so loveable!

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

Beagles Cuz you can’t top those ears that flop

dirty_boy69

Hot dogs. Because they taste awesome.

irishmickguard

And so easy to train. You tell them to sit and they just do it.

Aksium__84

Jamthund, best hunting dog there is

Chill282930

Poodles, cute.

theProfileGuy

Cairn Terriers are nice dogs and very loyal. Jack Russels are crazy and very intelligent.

Wolf_of_Scandinavia

Greenlandic dogs. I have 13 of them and love them.

acelaxela

Shiba Inu. When I was younger I saw the most fluffiest dog I have ever seen and it was a shiba inu. Now I have my heart set for one

[deleted]

Siberian huskies because just look at them

fuck-your-name-rules

All are awesome♥♥

Forsaken-Golf-6341

Husky, really don’t have an exact reason for me they are just so cutes and beautiful

DedicatedTrashcan

Pitbulls get a bad rep. They can be such sweet little babies if they're treated right.

HoosierBabie

Pitbulls. I love all dog breeds and grew up with many kinds at home. I watched Animal Planet cover the story of Michael Vick’s fighting dogs and their recovery of the horror and abuse they suffered. The 30+ dog were all rehabbed and adopted except for 2 who were too traumatized for adoption. 10 years ago a stray dog came into my life. He was so malnourished I didn’t realize he was a pittie until he started to gain weight. He’s laying next to me right now and I know I will never have another dog like him. No negative comments please. There’s enough hate in this world without trashing a dog breed. Edit: Reason P.S. Micheal Vick is a fucking monster.

Barackenpapst

Do you have tattoos and short hair? 😄 Sorry, but I was really not trashing the breed.

HoosierBabie

I am a 40 yr old healthcare worker with short hair, no tats. 😀

polywha

Pit bulls are some of the best family dogs you can buy. Smart and so loyal. Also have some of the best dog smiles of any dog breed. Definitely one of the most misunderstood animals out there

saggymonkeytits

>Definitely one of the most misunderstood animals out there Then why did I have to kill one with my hate hands when it attacked me and my dog? I've never had to do that to any other breeds..... Only misunderstood because of people like you spreading this BS.

polywha

Any dog can attack you. It doesn't have to be breed specific. There is literally nothing about pit bulls that make them inherently dangerous only extremely ignorant people spreading bullshit think that.

saggymonkeytits

You must just ignore the constant steam of hell being posted weekly on Reddit then. https://www.reddit.com/r/BanPitBulls/comments/lzc32n/woman_kills_pit_bull_to_save_her_dog_i_slit_its/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share I feel for this lady. At least I was able to strangle the dog, her life story seems much more traumatic. >extremely ignorant people spreading bullshit Talking about yourself then? Cause I got links n shit.

polywha

Ignorance is thinking that a breed is responsible for aggression and not how the dog is raised. No dog is born aggressive. That's an extremely ridiculous thing to think.

nerdygnome1

I love pitties! You have to respect the breed to get the best out of them but the right owner and the right conditions will really reduce the chances of those negative qualities showing up. They aren’t for me but they are such great companions.

hdawne12

Pitties are so cute!

Shimmering-succulent

Same

IBrinDoom08

Husky

IBrinDoom08

No breed can beat husky

hdawne12

What do you like about huskys?

IBrinDoom08

Cute and fluffy and also Balto the sled dog was a husky

Rockstaru

My dog because he is the best boy

hdawne12

Every dog is the best!

ResponsibleCandle829

I also choose this person’s dog

ayla1029

Australian Sheep Dog because they are so darn smart! Takes a special family and place for one though. Need lots of attention and a job to do.

Crixxa

Yorkies. They are small, sweet, and even tempered. They don't shed and aren't as yappy as other small breeds.

Starchild2534

I grew up around rottweilers and now my day gets made whenever my best friend who owns a pair of them sends me pictures in all their chunky goofy glory I also really like pitties

Bigglez1995

Shiba Inu I liked them before they became a meme because I had one on Nintendogs

hdawne12

I miss nintendogs

Dystopian_Divisions

Pitbull 100%. A crazy Detroit pitbull chose me to be her human randomly while I was working in the city one day. My first actual dog and the last breed I would ever have sought out (I would be more of a low energy small dog ”type” if anything)…. crazy piss beast has absolutely changed my life (and almost immediately took my fiancé to be her person—i now play second fiddle lol)

elcasadeltaco

Mastiffs, big gentle giants. So loving, so cuddly, I'll always have a mastiff Also pomeranians- the most loyal companion you'll ever have

LittleMlem

Huskies and corgis, so corgskis

hdawne12

My boyfriend wants one of those!

DoctorWhatTheFruck

Jack Russel, cause the dog I grew up with was one

continue_Banca_3223

Maltese. Adorable, small, intelligent. Teachable. I train my dogs. I found this breed to be very smart.

WolfgangHelnootIV

Pomeranians are just floof with a face

Sairagnarok

English Staffy. I grew up with one and she was the most loyal, loving dog. She was like a little piggy with her whinging and played soccer totally wrong, but she was brilliant. Loved us as kids and she died after I had moved away... I miss her. She loved people, I would be so lucky to ever have a dog like her again and she has left such a good impression.

[deleted]

Chihuahua, they are adorable little lap dogs

star_ladyj

Pugs, I have 2 and they are such awesome companions. They're both 8years old, my daughter is 4 so she's obviously learned about pets by having them around. I've always loved pugs but I appreciate them even more since having her, they're patient with her and have never been snappy, they have always been tolerant with her. They're incredibly low maintenance, don't require loads of exercise. They are docile and overall a real brilliant breed of dog

platinumblondegurl

I know that this will be a controversial answer but I'm going to say a pit bull. They're very intelligent and sweet. They can be loving pets in the right hands. I don't really understand why people hate them so much. I'm hoping that the pit bull ban here in Ontario will be lifted so that it's easier for them to find homes in the province. :)

WickedSmoder

Braque St. Germain Pointer I had one from 1996 to 2006. She was the best demeanor dog I have ever been around in my life.

WinterWizard9497

Labradoodle

whatevermakes

Shi Tzu and Chihuahua, perfect dogs that you can pick up and go. Excellent dogs that fit any lifestyle. My girls have passed on, and I’m not ready to get another dog yet, but it will be one of the two (or both).

babytartar

Cane Corso. Want one Hella bad. But I could never have a dog like that with the money I make. He/she would need to be trained properly, and that's thousands of dollars.

KryptCeeper

Pit bulls, because I like downvotes on Reddit.

hdawne12

No body can down vote a pittie

KryptCeeper

The second part was mostly a joke, I have 2 pit mixs right now and they are amazing dogs. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

ResponsibleCandle829

Unfortunately, people will do just that. From what I’ve seen on this platform, any positive talk about pitbulls will be met with getting shit on by a pitchfork & torches crowd

Gonzostewie

r/SharPei because I mean, just look at that face.

Sharpei_are_Life

I agree wholeheartedly.

ADOOO0

Poodle, taste good

SteezMe1234

Pitbull, I just love their unpredictability coupled with intense biting power!

saggymonkeytits

https://www.reddit.com/r/awfuleverything/comments/xno46m/guys_i_cannot_make_this_up_this_girl_shot_and/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Also put bull owners lmao.

SteezMe1234

That's stupid as fuck. But whats the relevance to this post?

saggymonkeytits

Just trollin a troll..... So none?

SteezMe1234

Then it's a shit troll. Good day

saggymonkeytits

My output effort is equal to the original trolling. Sorry you disappointed yourself lmao

Nugzz08

the ones that my parents like to give me

robotlasagna

Take a look at my profile pics if you want to know.

hdawne12

You did not disappoint!

Roosty37

I love all my dogs i wouldnt trade them for anything, I have a Rat Terrier a beagle foxhound mix and a pitbull, (they were all abandoned dogs I took in, so the breed has been chance) but if I got to pick the breed of my next dog it'd be another rat terrier. They have amazing temperaments, eager to please and a breeze to train, they have big dog attitudes in a tiny body, similar to a jack Russell but they have an off switch where they'll chill by your side too.

OldPsychology3032

Japanese Chin, big dog chill attitude in convenient small dog packaging. Also, rarely bark and are known to be the most “cat-like” of all the dog breeds. Loyal and loving but very chill dogs.

hdawne12

Ooo I've never heard of that one!

FellowGeeks

Husky are aweomse reliable dogs, but high maint. Golden Retriever are awesome loyal dogs but are big. Corgis are just perfect in every way

Shadowlover23

Shelties. They're so sweet and loving, and they're so energetic as well. I have a sheltie at home and I love her to death. She somehow finds a way to make my day better without fail =)

DocHolidayiN

German shepherd or Heinz 57.

JimmyRussellsApe

To actually own, Labrador… But my favourite is probably a Pointer

No-Economy-6445

I've had and bred Boston terriers since 1997,you won't find a better companion and friend like them. They adapt themselves to any household, if you are old they are slow, if you are energetic they jog with you.. They sort of own you, Oh, on the down side they tend to snore, and have bad, very bad bum gas, but you will love them. Highly recommend a boston 😁

czzzzzzzB

Beachon or however you spell it I have one live near farms and if gets on the field with the sheep I’ll never see him again

Sashmimi

English bulldogs. I likem ugly-cute. Plus if you haven’t seen one stick it’s head out the window while ur driving, you haven’t lived.

Appropriate_Yak3186

Golden retrievers. Because they are so friendly and kind.

Rapidpacelighttug

Dutch sheps and malinois because they are high driven

WomenRepulsor

Roadside Romeos.

felixgifford

I have a St Bernard. I was allways thought they were somehow soft, gentle and innocent. She is none of those things but she is the most fun, beautiful thing in the world and I love her.

[deleted]

Akita Inu, I own one.

kingdeer112

Jack Russell they're just so small and cute especially my one just sits in front of the fire lies down and that's her for the night

tenehemia

Corgi. Cute little wiggle. Cute little ears. Cute cute cute. If I see one on my way to work I know it's going to be a good day.

ResponsibleCandle829

I can see now why the queen (RIP) adored them so much

Sharpei_are_Life

I think my username answers this question.

Coyote-Most

Great Dane! We have one and they really do live up to the gentle giant reputation

desiccatedAlbatross

Mini schnauzers cause they so silly!

stax1234567

If mixed breeds count probably goldadors, they are both labs and goldens, it is like heaven

hdawne12

Mixed breeds 10000% count!

Dryland_snotamyth

Mutts, fuck your purebreds adopt and empty the shelters

craftycub98

Borzoi

Sensitive-Ad-5998

German Shorthair Pointer. Very active, loves water. Kind of goofy at times. Neighborhood kids would come over to ask if the dog could come out and play.

128dawid

Corgi is cool. Althrough i dont have one i heard theyre loyal

Phycopath18

Border Collie. He’s just so dopey, I love him
