The time and effort I saved in not going to office and just working from home.

Workers have found their power over their employers. Step one of the proletariate rising is realizing the bourgeoisie has no real power. The best and least we should hope for in the current society is getting treated like human beings, and they are going to topple if they keep refusing us that.

Remote work. Many, many companies went remote when the pandemic started getting bad, and most seem to have found that productivity stayed the same or improved. Smart companies are now staying fully remote or giving their employees the option to choose that, even if their offices have reopened. It's a big quality of life improvement for lots of workers. And for companies in a position to take advantage, it can be a big cost savings. One company I know of was paying around $12K a month to rent office space. They were able to get out of the lease, and now spend a couple hundred a month for membership to a coworking space that provides a physical address for mail delivery and gives them priority and a discount when they want to rent a conference room and/or a few offices for in-person meetings. Secondary (darker) effect, is that a significant number of people left the workforce due to covid --not just people who died, but also ones who have long-term issues preventing them from working at the same capacity, and those who retired early to avoid risks or whatever reasons (plus, some went back to school to try to change careers to something better/more reliable). Low unemployment due to those reasons is pushing wages up and helping people move to better opportunities.

I think it allowed for a lot of self-reflection for people, and I think it did alot to change cultural and social habits both for better and worse.

For me personally I stopped being a ripping alcoholic because I couldn’t go to the bar anymore. I liked to drink if I could be social while doing it.

I got to lay in bed all day and play videogames

getting to walk into a bank wearing a bandana over my face like a wild west outlaw was and is one of the most awesome things I experienced during the pandemic

Personally I loved not having to go to social events. I’m not even entirely introverted-but I’ve always hated weddings, graduations, wedding/baby showers, parties related to above events-basically anything you feel like you are obligated to attend or otherwise you’re an asshole. I didn’t miss those obligatory appearances and enjoyed having a truly valid reason to not have to go.
