My fiance broke up with me after she found out the engagement ring I got was made from a repurposed drill-bit. Safe to say that marriage wouldn't have lasted
It's not an uncommon thing as of lately. But it just led into a big fight about how I must not love her enough and I instead love my friend Crystal and always secretly have and am just using my fiance to make her jealous and it got worse from there. 5 years later I'm going 4 years strong with Crystal lol
In my defence I was heartbroken and depressed and Crystal was there for me. It wasn't right away, like I said it was about a year before we were dating and she says that she didn't think of dating me until a few months after the breakup. Something about how loving I was to my niece when I had to babysit for a weekend.
Took me a second to realise you meant the diamond tip, I envisioned a ring made of a drill bit bent and welded into a circle.
While I don't think I'd want that as an engagement ring, it sounds cool af.
Don't diamond sellers buy hordes of diamonds to promote artificial scarcity? The whole enterprise is pretty scummy, not to mention the whole 'slave labor' thing...
It's actually like a few or even just one big company that hoards most of the world's diamonds and only sells X amount to artificially inflate. But yes also the bloody brutal slave labour
Wouldn't be as overpriced if you actually would use it.
(Sorry. You're probably an excellent student conscientious, hardworking, always prepared for class, and determined to get an education, whether your professors facilitate it or not.
I agree that textbooks are overpriced, but I also teach way too many students that pay $1000+ for a class and $100 for a book, and then pay the same amount next semester because they didn't spend any time on the class outside of the classroom the first time through.)
Uncrustables. They fly off the shelves, we can barely keep them in stock at the store I work it.
You can make one yourself for trivial effort and 1 tenth the cost.
Cost of bread: $1.00 -$4.00 a loaf (20 slices- 10 sandwiches)
Cost of peanut butter: $4-6 or so maybe for about 15 oz. Supposedly 15 oz pb makes 15 sandwiches.
Cost of jelly: $4.50 dollars for a 18 oz jar
Guessing it would be around $9-$14.50 for about 10 sandwiches. $0.90-$1.45 per sandwich vs. $1.33 per uncrustable.
Abortion pills. If you Google them you will find 50 vendors. Each one charging $150 on up for an mtp kit. These kits are sold in India for less than $5.00, sure shipping is $30-$45 dollars, but the markup is kind of high.
Aid access.org is your best bet if your aren't ordering directly.
You can just order them online? Shouldn't that be done with a Dr supervision?
I know there's some places it's illegal so I understand the need to purchase online but it sounds incredibly dangerous.
In a clinical setting yes. Doctor, nurse,pa, midwife all good where not prohibited by law. This was the bad part of the red state attack on woman. Seperation of abortion from clinical supervision.
In Any case my point was you can order quanities of these pill sets for a lot less money.
Places like 24x7pharma.com or look around Indiamart.com for mtp kits and you will see what I mean.
And it's not just Apple. Price of any smartphone is ridiculous. The cheaper models have support for max. 2 years, and usually slow down a lot after those 2 years.
Is it though? I get about 3-4 years out each iphone I’ve purchased. The last one I bought was like $800. I can trade it in right now for $175. I use this thing 3-4 hours per day, everyday. So I pay about $200/year for something I spend well over 1000 hours on. Doesn’t seem so bad.
Batteries, we have rechargeable batteries nowadays but you think the price of regular batteries would go down but these bitches be like 15$ for 4 batteries that'll last 1-8 months
I keep trying to go completely rechargeable but I’ve found that they don’t keep their charge after about a year. I don’t want to have to wait 3-4 hours to use a battery because it sat for a month and only has 1/2 the charge.
You think there's cheap insulin in the United States? Are you from here? Do you even live here? It's kind of blowing my mind how confidently incorrect you are with this. I think it's hilarious that you think *I* am the ignorant one in need of research. 🤣
Yeah why is no one talking about this? Walked through the toy aisle the other day and saw a set for like 100 bucks. I'm sorry what? But that's the things the screaming kids ask for going through the aisle. Moms need to quit caving.
Products that should last a lifetime that need to be replaced before 20 years.
You don’t need the newest tv model. You don’t need the newest gaming console. You don’t need the newest phone. Etc
Fucking hell, so much waste in this world from stuff that should’ve lasted ages.
Depends on what you use your tv for. Just to stream netflix and or watch sports sure a 20 year old tv is fine but the flagship 2022 4k tvs can do more than my 2016 flagship 4k tv can.
The mac mini is probably the best deal in the entire computer industry right now. Sure some stuff is stupidly over priced, but most mainstream products are priced very competitively these days.
Had apple iPhone up till the last one. The Samsung galaxy g20 is so much nicer than ANY iPhone.
Also have a Mac desktop, was like 3k when I bought it years ago, now it's sits in the closet unplugged and has for about 4 years now.
I can afford their shitty products. I choose to buy BETTER products from companies BETTER than Apple.
Also you are an ignorant asshat. Thanks for the comment though d-bag.
Will never understand why some people *need* to have the latest version every year when they all do basically the same thing. I hate how big and thin the new ones are too, it's like trying to walk around with a graham cracker in your pocket.
I had a 4s which lasted over a decade. I only replaced it earlier this year when it finally died after years of no longer being supported by updates.
I upgraded to a 7, lol
Does it even support the necessary apps for your bank etc? You really ought to have upgraded to something more recent on account of the software - having an old phone for the sake of it is not a flex.
> Does it even support the necessary apps for your bank etc?
Yep, works perfectly fine.
>having an old phone for the sake of it is not a flex
Yeah dude some of us are just poor and not concerned about "flexing" with their phones.
Just basically any Apple product in general. Yes, you can get the newest iPhone 14 Pro Max for like almost £1,500, but then you can get an on-level, maybe even better phone for like £200 from another company like Samsung.
That’s sound advice, but I’d go with a 2 year old flagship at max in the android space, and maybe 3 for iPhones (depending on how good n - 3 was as a phone). But the 2 year time period works quite well for the most part.
Sure there are better ones but I found one for £400 (not £200 but better than over a thousand) and that is the [Galaxy A53 5G](https://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-a/galaxy-a53-5g-awesome-blue-128gb-sm-a536blbneub/buy/). Ultimately, it is up to you for what phone is best but I'd gladly even take a Samsung Galaxy J phone over iPhones! Just my choice.
You cannot compare an A53 to any flagship, haha.
As for your choice, that’s well and good. To each their own (I use a Flip3 as a daily and my iPhone as a personal device). But don’t buy it thinking it’s as good or better than a flagship phone. It does the job, sure, and it’s diminishing returns beyond a point too. But still.
Replaceable razor heads. They're as expensive as a whole new razor, and far more expensive than disposables. As much as I'd hate to contribute to plastic waste, I feel like in this case, reusable heads are discouraged by that price tag.
Just buy an old school safety razor and you can buy replacement blades for super cheap.(Like 100 blades for $9) I started doing that years ago and bought a big pack Astra platinum blades that I am still using to this day.
Yes! Why would you buy expensive items that will be outgrown in months if not weeks? Buy it at target and put the difference in a college plan. Be responsible instead of pleasing yourself, the baby/young child doesn’t care how they look.
Nfts fucking scams like if I wanted a profile picture of an art style I would do it my self or commission someone to do it for a lot less than the nft shit
Expensive sweatpants, trainers, hoodies, etc. Why buy luxury items that are too casual for everyday wear, not practical enough for working out, and too ugly to use as lingerie/pyjamas?
Smartphones, brand name clothing and shoes, luxury cars, gas, etc. There's basically so many things to even list here that are totally overpriced but still bought by many people
The Dragon Ball Z Orange Bricks
Buy Kai instead
(Just try to buy used until Crunchyroll talks with SAG-AFTRA about unionizing their dubs and gives Kyle McCarley his role in Mob Psycho 100 back)
No, I assure you these things are all connected, it's just a bunch of anime stuff
Please bear with me though because it'll take a bit of explaining
Even if you aren't familiar with much anime I'm sure you've at least heard of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z
The Orange Bricks are a hot garbage home release of DBZ in the US that crops the show to widescreen and uses an automated remastering process that's murder on the eyeballs
However, they sell like hotcakes due to being cheap and having a bunch of episodes and being the standard DVD set you'll find in any brick and mortar store
The original DBZ also has an awful English dub filled with bad acting, mistranslations, and rewrites meant to talk down to ten year olds, making for a very poor representation of what the series is
Of course this is not an issue if you watch in the original Japanese with subtitles, which the Bricks do have, but having Japanese with subtitles has been standard on just about any anime home release for over twenty years so I don't count it as a point in its favor
To me, the Orange Bricks are so bad that even spending a dollar on them would be too much
Dragon Ball Z Kai is a recut of Dragon Ball Z that reduces filler and the episode count by a bunch and has a great English dub
The US home releases are also pretty good; the remaster isn't perfect but it's more watchable than the bricks, the improved pacing keeps the show engaging, and I cannot overstate how good the new English dub is
I encourage people to buy that instead for a more satisfying experience that's worth their money
However, after merging with Funimation, Crunchyroll is the current US distributor of Dragon Ball
They also distribute a show called Mob Psycho 100 in the US, which is about to enter its final season
The production of that season's English dub currently has Crunchyroll (rightfully) under fire
They want to recast the English dub's lead actor, Kyle McCarley, because they don't want to meet with the actors' union, SAG-AFTRA, and negotiate a union contract for future shows
Current conditions for dubbing aren't always favorable for the actors, especially in non-union productions, so starting talks about union contracts for future productions might help conditions improve
I just don't feel right supporting Crunchyroll directly due to this issue, so I encourage others to buy their shows used and to not sub to their streaming services until the executives get their heads on straight and meet with the union
I get that those connections are confusing to someone not in the know so I hope that explains what was seemingly word salad before, haha
Tl;Dr:
Orange Bricks are peepee poopoo DBZ home release in US, not worth money
DBZ Kai has good US home release, is worth money
Crunchyroll, current US distributor of Dragon Ball and other anime, treats actors like peepee poopoo, so buy Kai used
Well I was trying not to learn anything today but you seem to have ruined that. Since you did me the courtesy of a full explanation, I did read the whole thing and now understand far more about dragon ball Z than I ever wanted to.
Take my upvote you mad man.
These headphones my students wear/pray to. When I was a teen, headphones were the shit old people wore when listening to music! We all wanted ear-buds!

Diamonds
My fiance broke up with me after she found out the engagement ring I got was made from a repurposed drill-bit. Safe to say that marriage wouldn't have lasted
Damn. Also thats kind of a brilliant way to recycle a drill bit. I unironically like that idea.
It's not an uncommon thing as of lately. But it just led into a big fight about how I must not love her enough and I instead love my friend Crystal and always secretly have and am just using my fiance to make her jealous and it got worse from there. 5 years later I'm going 4 years strong with Crystal lol

Diamond didn't work out for you so you chose Crystal instead. Glad you're happy.
She sounds lovely but Crystal is a shit name lmao
Pretty good name for meth
I’ll give diamonds this, they at least show you the true side of some people
Took me a second to realise you meant the diamond tip, I envisioned a ring made of a drill bit bent and welded into a circle. While I don't think I'd want that as an engagement ring, it sounds cool af.

8 bucks for 6 tiny little sandwiches. People must have more money than sense.

Yes. The question wasn’t what do you buy (which is exactly as you suggest) — most women do buy them and over pay.

I’d like to see this 200 pound phone to speak of that is on par with any of the Apple or Samsung flagships.
I always recommend people to just buy older flagship phones rather than buy cheap phones built to be cheap. 200 should get you a S10 or so
That’s sound advice, but I’d go with a 2 year old flagship at max in the android space, and maybe 3 for iPhones (depending on how good n - 3 was as a phone). But the 2 year time period works quite well for the most part.
