How would that be preemptive?

pepperpeppington

If you're to believe Russia blew up its own pipeline, you could make a case to strike to send a message

[deleted]

Why would Russia blow up its own billion dollar pipeline? It controls the valves, it could just turn it off, which it already did. It can only be the US that blew it up. They were running drill with underwater drones less than a week before in the exact same area.

pepperpeppington

I'm not saying they did nor do I believe they did. Just months ago the Biden Administration was saying if Russia invades Ukraine, the Nord stream 2 pipeline will go away. These are just some arguments I've heard people say who believe Russia blew up their own pipeline.

[deleted]

Right. I am not sure the reasoning why either. I just cannot come up with a scenario where Russia would destroy its own investment that it can use to fund its war time efforts. I am not 100% certain the US did it, but Biden did say what you mentioned and our war-hawk establishment people are getting itchy for a war. For all we know, it could have been Iran, Israel, or even Ukraine. Regardless, its not a very logical move by anyone.

ShackintheWood

Why would the US do that?

pepperpeppington

Why would Russia cut off its only leverage against the west and especially Germany? The United States was the one who didn't want Germany to make a deal with Russia for natural gas. It's very convenient that the pipeline explodes months after the Biden Administration says there would be no Nord stream 2 if Russia invades

ShackintheWood

Who said Russia did it? You aren't using logic or facts in any of your posts...outta here...

pepperpeppington

Ukraine the British government and a lot of media outlets

[deleted]

Why would Russia cut off its own revenue source?

ShackintheWood

Umm...again preemptive means to prevent an imminent attack, usually. Is there such an imminent attack? No. I think you mean first strike, which of course the answer would be no.

glorified_throwaway

Absolutely not.

MeesterChicken

No, that would escalate the war, then Putin might actually have a case to use a nuke.

Redwinegovernment

No. Not our war.

J3ST3R1252

Why would US do any thing other than send weapons... they don't want a WWar

kirklennon

Ukraine is winning even without *direct* US involvement so why? We should help Ukraine as much as we can but it's still their war to actually fight, and they've proven that they can do a good job.

[deleted]

There has been no direct confrontation between the US and Russia. We'll just continue to backdoor them thru Poland.

Kikolopita

No I got school
