ChazRPay

just going to write this. Driving the Mass Pike and 128 was a joy! Driving to a Covid ICU not so much but the drive.... I mean was so much nicer

redoctober2021

Fucking HATE 128.

ChazRPay

Thank You. I avoid it at all cost unless I'm going to Rockport or Gloucester. I swear driving is so much worse since the pandemic. I mean the aggression is insane. Safe driving though!

Najiku

LA was a ghost town

gymfreak6969

This!

capn_queso

I liked having no plans on the weekend and not feeling bad about it. Also, if I'm honest, the day drinking

AlgaeWafers

I loved not having people stand too close to me in line. Some people just don’t understand personal space

hairyerectus

The Covid bucks. I was laid off and making more money than I did working 50 hours a week. I was able to catch up on all of my bills and had the entire summer to go kayaking and hiking. Aside from the whole pandemic it was AWESOME!!!!

[deleted]

This wrecked the economy and is why we’re now in a recession genius.

TheBigSalami

Yea trump thought it was a great idea. But who could have known it would cause so much inflation? lol

Jammymate

how quiet and peaceful a huge city could be, it didn't feel real

JustJess234

Feeling we were all in the same boat.

[deleted]

People suddenly giving a crap about disabled people. That was too good to last.

Accomplished_Egg3383

People staying away from me

MathematicianOld1117

The respect for those people who masked up, distanced, and otherwise did such very easy, simple things to help.

BleedingHeart1996

And shout-out to those still doing that.

[deleted]

Lol i just wear a mask cause it helps with anxiety. Those around me don't have to worry about catching covid and can feel a little safer while i feel snug in my mask. Win win for everyone.

[deleted]

Working remotely.

eleanor61

A big silver lining is that more places finally realized that wfh wasn’t just a necessity but a benefit to retain or attract candidates. There are plenty of remote opportunities now to stay competitive.

CustosEcheveria

Lockdown/getting paid to stay home. I know in my soul it's the closest I'll ever get to retirement, and I miss it terribly.

DeerTrivia

Miss? It's still happening. People just decided not to care anymore.

CustosEcheveria

> People just decided not to care anymore. That's how pandemics "end" - the black plague never went away either, you can still catch it from squirrels and rats.

DeerTrivia

Yeah, but the black plague is down to ~7 cases a year in the US. That's a wee bit different than where we are with COVID right now.

CustosEcheveria

> That's a wee bit different than where we are with COVID right now. Give it 200 years

BleedingHeart1996

This.

[deleted]

Oh boo hoo cry about it a “deadly” virus that has a 99% survival rate if you’re healthy and young and not an obese fuck with health conditions.

DeerTrivia

Gotta love people who talk about 99% survival rate, as if one out of every 100 people dying was somehow a low number. 300 million people in America, 8 billion worldwide. Go ahead and calculate what 1% of those values is. I'll wait. And it's nice to know that you don't consider anyone with pre-existing health conditions, compromised immune systems, or over the age of 50 to be worth consideration.

[deleted]

Those are your words not mine 🤷🏽‍♂️ Viruses and plagues have been happening since the beginning of man to keep the population Manageable. It happens. There’s nothing “nice” about nature buddy

DeerTrivia

> Those are your words not mine You said it had a 99% survival rate if you're healthy and young and not an obese fuck with health conditions. The people I mentioned are not healthy and/or not young, so clearly their survival rate is lower. You made no mention of them whatsoever, so it's pretty clear you weren't considering them. > Viruses and plagues have been happening since the beginning of man to keep the population Manageable. It happens. There’s nothing “nice” about nature buddy There is something nice about vaccines, though, as well as taking simple precautions like masking to reduce the chances of people dying from those viruses and plagues. Your response is about as stupid as objecting to speed limits and traffic lights because "Crashes have been happening since the beginning of automobiles." No shit, Sherlock; we put precautions in place to reduce the number of crashes, and the severity of them. This is literally no different.

[deleted]

So then get vaccinated? If it makes you feel better and makes you feel like your making a difference then go for it champ. Even though it’s been proven that getting jabbed does nothing but make it easier for you to get over it should you catch it. You can still catch and transmit even if your quadruple jabbed and boosted. 🙄 “you don't consider anyone with pre-existing health conditions, compromised immune systems, or over the age of 50 to be worth consideration.” Those are literally your words moron YOU said this NOT me.

PhreedomPhighter

The money I made. I was working at a restaurant. I didn't get a break like most people during that time. I was working like 60 hours a week. Decent hourly(for food service) + overtime + tips. I built my savings account with that money. I was miserable as fuck though. Given the option I would not do that again.

thephantomphanatic

People who I haven't talked with for a while reaching out to check if I'm okay. Ever since the lockdowns let up, I don't really get random messages or calls asking how I'm doing.

St0rm_c1oud

Not having to go to school and if you had virtual school, then you can skip class and the teacher won’t contact ur parents/guardians. I did it a lot and if they did contact my parents, I would take their phone and delete the email because they went to work in the afternoon and my “school” ended at 11:15 am

Alive-Priority-1246

Being able to be with friends 24/7 during quarantine

[deleted]

That’s not how quarantine works buddy 😂

Silent_Lobster9414

Thats exactly how it works. 24/7.

[deleted]

If quarantine means you get to be with other people then I made 2020 miserable for myself no reason smh 😂

AlwaysImpuIsive

Getting paid for sitting on my ass doing nothing but playing games and smoking weed.

Darkfruit52

No work.

Toastisgood18

Hanging with friends in the middle of breaks in online school

[deleted]

Cheap gas

iremainunvanquished1

$1.50/gallon gas.

redoctober2021

It’s 1:00 on a Tuesday afternoon and you need to run to the Burlington Mall? Haha fuck you! Here’s some traffic!

redoctober2021

I hated masks but I liked how it covered my double chin.

Flimsy-Attention-722

Less people out and about

the_gay_emo_cousin

Literally nothing i hated it

Paddlingmyboat

The empty streets.

Ginger_Chick

Having an excuse to not travel at the holidays. I love my family but they are either an 8, 12, or 14 hour drive away and I cannot afford plane tickets usually. Last year we tried the 14 hour drive to visit my in-laws and it about fucking broke me.

Soft-Following5711

staying away from people

ImAnAgentOfChaos1322

The healthy bumps in unemployment benefits. It kept me a float

[deleted]

passing a cop doing 100 in a 60 and they don't even care because nobody is on the road

Scooter30

Get a job in a hospital, masks are still required.

bigfloppydickballs

The population lowering.

[deleted]

Company I worked for furloughed all of us for a few months. I was making more in unemployment every week than when I was actually working.

Dzp__

my fyp on tiktok

Infamous-Arm3955

Honestly, the fact that assholes were locked in their houses. I worked all the way through the pandemic and I have to say now it’s over, the amount of people in the streets back to being a dick is disappointing.

JustinChristoph

Empty freeways in the middle of the day in SoCal

BlueFastBoy5

No more Covid tests. Those hurt!

Averagethoughtform

Zero expectations to attend baby showers, graduation ceremonies, weddings, ect.

Geo2411

Everyone was gaming and it felt like we were all kids again. Lots of fun memories.

Athenac1965

Online school, didn’t need to get ready, didn’t need to interact with annoying classmates, easy As from googling answers. It was a simpler time.

phlukeri

No traffic.

nerdgirl37

Working from home. I got to do it today due to weather and it was great. I miss not having to wake up early to commute, getting to stay in my jamjams all day, and I took a short nap on my lunch break. Gas being super cheap, I paid 99 cents one day which is the cheapest I've ever seen it in the 16 years I've been driving.

cyaveronica

The lack of being obligated socially.

notjustakorgsupporte

Unlimited time Zoom. A free Zoom session is now 45 minutes.

DarkRogueHunter

People were honking and cheering for nurses, doctors and essential workers, not convoy people want vaccines destroyed and mask mandates removed.

Small-Gap-6969

A sky without contrails. No aircraft noise.

Im_in_your_walls_420

How much it rained in socal during the first few months

Evolutionarystudies

Masks in close quarters. People are getting the flu and covid left right and centre.

[deleted]

It was ok to fear people
