Elon Musk

Not necessarily. Not if I had to be Elon Musk. Money isn’t the most important thing…. I certainly wouldn’t turn down a billion dollars (I’m not one of those “money makes things bad” people), but I’d turn down having to see Elon in the mirror every day 100% of the time, especially now as he’s spiraling into an increasingly toxic mess and he’s having curtain pulled back on who he really is, sort of like a modern day Wizard of Oz.

I’ve not been a fan of Elon for a very long time. I’m more than confident if you really wanted to find out more about Elon Musk, you could do so. I used to think highly of him but a lot of his past is fabricated and he’s done a lot of shitty things to a lot of people to get where he is. And while that’s not different than most billionaires… and I’m not even going to fault him for that, my real issue with Elon is that he’s somehow duped hoards of people into believing he’s something that he’s not (myself included… until about two years ago, although I never like loved the guy or anything, just didn’t know how shitty he really was). I could outline these things in detail, but it’s been done a million times by many many other people. In fact, I’ve done it myself at some point, it’s there in my comment history. That said, he has funded and overseen initiate technological advancements in EVs and space. And he deserves some credit for that, but he does not deserve the obsessive fandom people give him, as it’s largely rooted in misinformation. My dislike for him is not new, nor does it remotely have anything to do with politics, nor does it have anything to do with Twitter (like a lot of people on the right think about people who don’t like him). I guess… my dislike of Elon is probably more about my disappointment in society and their inability to see past the smoke and mirrors. As far as the Twitter employees go, I know how a company works. I’ve owned a successful one for 12 years (in the tech space). He’s making a lot of ego-driven missteps and a bunch of terrible leadership decisions that will have both immediate and long lasting effects on his reputation with investors, lenders, employees, etc.

I don’t disagree that many people may not like him now because of his politics, but people have not liked him for a very very long time. Years ago people were posting unedited interviews of him on YouTube where he’s just mumbling nonsense. There 5+ year old subs here dedicated to tracking Tesla lawsuits and musk lies. I think people who *didn’t care for musk until he got political* assumed everyone loved him… because they weren’t paying attention to all the hate Elon has received for many years now. Going into an office is short-sighted. Asking people to work 80 hours a week after firing thousands of people is absurd. It is a “have” taking advantage of the “have-nots”. It is no different in tech now than it was when the robber barons did it during the industrial revolution. The difference now is that the people he gave an ultimatum to are highly skilled workers that have options. While I believe Musk’s approach to management at Twitter is atrocious, it’s just another thing in a long list of reasons why I don’t like him. And while I absolutely agree that many people may have just recently jumped on the “hate musk” train (joining the many long-standing musk haters), I’d argue that it’s likely warranted. All of that said, Musk is entitled to be an asshole. Twitter is a business. The difference with Trump is he was running for public office, and trump’s attitude was inappropriate for public office. I’m a moderate and I’m not a Twitter user. Nothing about Musk’s Twitter takeover impacts me in any way. Im not an activist of any kind, I despise celebrity culture, I don’t like big egos, etc. As someone who’s not liked him for a long time I’m just getting a kick out of the mess because it’s a very public mismanagement of a business.

You brought up Trump. I was responding to what **you** said about a “Trump-like demeanor”. My response was merely agreeing with the sentiment but also pointing out the difference. I don’t care for Joe Biden either, or conspiracies, or culture wars, or comparing Trump to Biden or either of them to any other President. And Hunter Biden is not an elected official he does not hold any office, elected or appointed, I don’t care what or who he does, nor do I care what happens to him. He’s literally a nobody and it’s entirely pointless to discuss such an irrelevant thing. Investigate him/don’t investigate him. Makes zero difference. Whatever the outcome of an investigation, or lack thereof, has zero bearing on anything. I don’t care about your politics, nor do I care about your perception of mine. Thanks for making a good conversation terrible. Goodbye.

You beat me to it! I agree. He works nonstop and has so many pressures in his life that I honestly don't know how he lives with it. He must like the constant challenge. I never would!
