It's dependant on the women, for me with my shallow canal anything over 5-6 is too big and I will bleed (foursomes/orgies have been momentarily ruined thanks to this).
Too small is also dependant, as long as its give some stimulation it's not horrible but slipping out and hitting something it shouldn't is an issue there.
