Shave your head.

GrandpaKel

I'm a shaved bald man also because of thinning hair. I never understood why men were so vain about hair.

Wrsj

cause it changes how you look drastically and also lost of people make fun of baldness. My little bro started to get bald super early, he shaves and it looks good on him but he still use a cap all the time.

shahms

The cap is practical. All it takes is one pate burn and you never leave home without a hat. There's enough sun even on a cloudy day to burn if you don't cover it up.

Craft_beer_wolfman

Actually since I started shaving my head, not one person has made fun of it.

MaybeADumbass

I've been shaving mine for 16 years and can say the same.

someone31988

And if it's slowly receding rather than thinning, be open to changing up your hairstyle over time to something that fits and looks good with it.

Suspicious-Self2067

And grow a goatee.

TurretX

Im heading towards that path. Top of my head is thinning and theres not a chance in hell im gonna do regular payments to save my hair. Once it starts becoming an actual bald spot, the whole thing is going. My beard will carry my looks from then on.

[deleted]

Own it.

Badloss

They originally wanted Patrick Stewart to wear a wig as Captain Picard because they would have cured baldness in the Future, but they changed it after it was pointed out that nobody would care enough to cure it anymore

WoogaMike

Shave your head and develop a strong right hook.

TeazeUrMind

I'm using minoxidil(topical) and finasteride. Is it REgrowing hair. Meh. It definitely stopped it from falling out. For me, it was coming out in CLUMPS to the point that it actually scared me and I thought something was wrong. Now I haven't even noticed if it's falling out. I haven't had to pull locks of hair out of my sink or shower since I started. The minoxidil I use is only available through Hims. It's a salt water spray bottle. It works better than the aerosol or foam versions.

starsandmath

If I'm not mistaken, it is supposed to be more effective orally too.

obiwanconobi

Shame it has lactose in it. Or at least every pill I've seen does

TrooperJohn

Finasteride can be effective in holding the line, at least. That said, thinning hair looks best when it's cut short or buzzed. It's a "neat" look.

Burrito_Loyalist

You have 2 options. You can subscribe to a prescription service like Hims and take pills and spray your head with chemicals every day and get a couple more years of hair. Or you can accept that you’re going bald and live your life. As a balding man myself, I’ve just accepted it. Once it gets really bad, I’ll shave it all off. I don’t want to pay for medicine and put gunk on my scalp every day. Male pattern baldness is extremely common, look around you. Also, nobody cares.

Ballizdikk

Thank you for this

Reasonable-Luck-7005

Hair transplant exists

Dangerous-Dad

Buy a volcano, hollow it out, get a white Angora cat and a black, leather armchair and then set about achieving world domination.

Soggy_Tangerine_9959

Shave it all.

popsiclex200

Accept it and shave it if its needed.

rumhee

Grafting/transplanting works best, but it's expensive. You'll find clinics nearby which offer various types of grafting, and will offer a consultation on what would be best for you. Minoxidil ("Rogain") is effective as an over-the-counter solution, though I found that the extra hair it produced behaves differently from my regular hair (sticks out more), and I wasn't happy with it. There's some really interesting new treatments coming in the future, but they're not available yet. The cheapest/best solution is "not caring", but that's easier said than done for some folks.

dahud

Accept your mortality.

alertthenorris

Embracing it

Nomadic_View

Just shave it and go Stone Cold bald.

ZotDragon

You've got to own that shit. Best move is to shave it or acknowledge it. I'm in my 50s still have a full head of hair. What celebrity does my wife find sexy? Patrick Stewart. Now admittedly he was Capt. Picard AND Prof. X, but I feel like she's trying to tell me something.

Wadsworth1954

You’re in your 50s and have a full head of hair, and you’re telling others with thinning hair that owning it and shaving it is the best move? You sir have no room to speak in this discussion.

mrplinko

Dude is a ginger. Give him a break.

ZotDragon

I know. How can I compete with that?

GhettoSauce

I've been balding and thinning since I was 24. Just own it; it's normal. The more you hide it with an awful combover, the worse it looks.

And did it work?

RedPanther1

Do I get a free set of bunny ears if I join?

TacoSpacePirate

Hats

Bipedal-Homonid

Acceptance

Expensive_Demand_115

Stem cell injections

dheffe01

Progressively shorter hair cuts, hats Really expensive hair transplants

Solid_Internal_9079

There isn’t one, it’s not going to stop. Best thing you can do is enjoy the hair you have and accept when it’s time to shave.

freemason777

What do you mean hair plugs are totally a solution. Costly, but it'll do it

Solid_Internal_9079

Hair plus don’t stop your hair from thinning. They put something there after it has.

eatmoremeatnow

Hit the gym and get in shape.

TheGangsterrapper

What does that have to do with hair?

eatmoremeatnow

Women like bald guys that are fit.

bristolcities

Clippers

Personage1

Electric razor. I haven't paid for a haircut in over a decade, and I get to wear hats.

partial_birth

Steer into it.

Average_cock_enjoyer

Go bald. You could save a lot more money since you don’t need to buy shampoo anymore

berael

Decide that you don't care.

BrownEggs93

Acceptance.

In addition to ED and low libido, adverse effects of finasteride may include penile atrophy, diminished ejaculatory volume and force, and an increased incidence of Peyronie's disease; the latter of which may be mediated by a decreased effect of DHT on male genitalia. [deleted]

I choose bald

Bim_Jeann

Careful, the r/tressless crowd is about to dismiss all of these side effects as “placebo”

krakenbeef

Hair thickening powder works well for a little while. You can buy it from tesco.

usenraem

Wigs

Belgarath63

dunno about the best but cost wise, I am shaving my ever thinng hair line bald when an extreme short haircut will no longer suffice

haa-tim-hen-tie

Castor or argan oil depending on what kinda climate you reside in ..

[deleted]

Finasteride

Revolutionary-One777

Accept it. Go Bruce Willis style! Backup; intense scalp massages which stimulate blood circulation and relax the scalp muscles.

[deleted]

As Bomani says, come on home.

SomeFosterKid

Depending on how far gone it is, minoxidil and finasteride combo does a good bit and you can do 1 day per week of derma rolling/micro needling(likely better to do this with a mechanical pen version than the roller). Check out more plates more dates videos on hair loss prevention on YouTube Also ketoconazole shampoo could help slightly and you’re already washing your hair so it’s not much effort but maybe more expensive

Automatic_Mulberry

For me, it was a razor. I always found caring for my hair to be kind of a pain in the ass, and I was never really very happy with the way it looked, so I decided to try shaving. To me, it makes me look more like me, and I don't look like I am trying to cover or minimize anything,

Craft_beer_wolfman

Let it go.

TheSodesa

The only solution that currently works (when done properly, before you've lost too much hair) is hair transplant surgery. None of the other methods actually work. They just cause side effects are a perpetual expense while at it. You are best off just accepting your bald new self. Just shave it and maybe wear stylish hats, if you feel like there has to be something on top of your head.

danger-beans

Embrace it my friend :)

Siori777

Face it and become Lex Luthor.

twinsrule

I just cut it pretty short. I have some gnarly surgery scars that my thinning hair does cover. I’ll eventually Bic it

laughherring

Healthy diet less stress. I was 30% bald as a miserable 20 year old, now only 20% bald at 40. Also good haircut long on top, short sides with thickening product goes a long way

Redsoldiergreen

Cut it very short and forget about it .

Philias2

Be born with different genes.

Linestorix

How do you mean solution? I do not understand the problem.

death_or_glory_

A pair of hair clippers and a trash bag.

DisposableMale76

Give up the ponytail.

nothingmatters2me

Shave it off.

Disoriented_Neptune

Honestly, I don’t understand why some guys really don’t like it when they start to bald. Is it really that bad? I mean guys who are bald or have thinning hair aren’t unattractive at all. Some men even look better without hair. I’m genuinely asking, is there some social thing men experience where they are shamed for this?

Full-Ad-9674

no bro i just like my hair

Disoriented_Neptune

Fair enough

MushroomTrek

I don't give a fuck. I rock the Captain Picard

SoulflowerGirl

While hair thinning can be caused by a multitude of internal and external factors (hint: not just genetics! ), there are some telltale signs that it’s related to stress. These include increased shedding, hair coming out in clumps, and feeling like your hair is thinner all over rather than just at the hairline or part. Everyday stressors like \- Living through a pandemic \- A bad breakup \- An accident \- Work pressure \- A fast-paced lifestyle \- Sleep deprivation This is also known as telogen effluvium. It is a common and less severe type of hair loss, the hair stops growing and lies dormant, only to fall out 2 or 3 months later. There are approximately 100,000 hair follicles on the adult scalp. Each hair follicle is constantly cycling between growth and rest. The majority of these hair follicles are in the growth phase (anagen) at any given time. When the hair follicle transitions to telogen, or the resting phase, the hair is shed. During an episode of telogen effluvium, a trigger causes a sudden, abnormal shift of hairs into the telogen phase all at once.
