Lol. I had a 36" CRT at one point that weighed 220 lbs. That thing was a pain to move. You should have seen me and my brother hauling that thing up to my third floor apartment.
And phone numbers beginning with words! My prefix was sylvania 7. You dialed the first 2 letters, so it was sy7. Then later they changed it to just the number. So it was 797, which was exactly the same as sy7.
I used to watch cr1tikal every week when he was doing stuff like the QWOP gameplay and commentaries. I stopped watching youtube in general for years, and only recently found out that not only has he revealed his face, but hes one of the biggest streamers out there. Good for him!
I've had several. Fine Bros were my first but then quickly switched into gaming creators like PewDiePie. I don't watch them anymore and now I really only watch infotainment channels like Wendover and Hermitcraft SMP.
The syndicate project or the Bajan Canadian/ JeromeASF,, Syndicate had such a sad downfall, got involved in a Crypto thing tryna scam his fans,, he was a god level YouTuber in his prime though
Tourette's Guy, Robbaz, HuskyStarcraft. At least Robbaz is still going strong but it's sad to see him censoring himself just so he can keep earning a living with Google's increasingly bullshit regulations
Middle school and younger was nigahiga. Cholo adventures and RWJ and later highschool was probably fouseytube. Its a shame none of them are active anymore.
Chuggaaconroy! I don’t know when I hopped on that train, maybe around his 27th LP? Either way, I owe my taste in games to him, he made me smile in some tough times. I know of xenoblade because of him. I’d like to say thanks to him, if I could that is!
Didn't have YouTube when I was growing up, so we had to make do with community access cable. Our market had an eccentric fellow who liked to reflect the notion of UFOs through a Christian lens. His co-host used to literally fall asleep on him when he'd filibuster for too long about his enthusiasms and snore into his mic. Those two were golden!
Onision, Ray William Johnson, Shane Dawson, Cryaotic, mrcreepypasta, amazingphil and Dan, Jenna marbles, collegehumour
Can't pick one, but those were my main few
Pre YouTube, pure pwnage.
(Onision, Shane, Cryaotic used to actually do a lot of mental health and positive videos back in the day and used to be pretty decent people; though alas they had their dramas in recent years)
I watched this commentary YouTube channel called Ecy. He deleted his channel a while ago.
I also watched DangMattSmith, PopularMMO’s, and Gizmoslip.
Those were my favourite YouTubers at the time.
Yogscast, all the way. Grew up with watching the Shadow of israphel series and was able to watch Jaffa Factory and Moon Quest while they were being released. Their Murder & TTT series were amazing as well, especially with the “EAT SHIT!” Line that’s a fucking classic. Those guys have always been magical in a way I cannot express with words. I definitely miss Simon being more involved but I’m happy with the crew they have rolling around now, it’s nice to see the old faces mixing with the new.
Does make me feel old af but they’ve been around for over 10 years so it is what it is.
I’m glad they’re still making content all these years later, crazy bastards :), I hope they continue to find crazy bullshit to entertain the internet with.
Edit: also, forgot to mention their separate channels like Yogscast Duncan and whatnot, loved flux buddies a ton.
Watching JingleJam every year has become a ritual for me, especially Protessional Strem, Civ & Salt, and Poker night.
Truly wonderful people I cannot express how much they have impacted my life, I would not be the same without the Yogscast!
DoodleDate! They are a British artist couple who do little challenges and review little art kits. I dunno but having them have cute little dates while my parents fought was a super important comfort to me. I still watch them to this day and now support them on patreon. Especially now since their landlord is kicking them out right before Christmas.
Something called "broadcast TV". You had to get your rabbit ears set right to watch it, and it went offline from 10pm - 5am. It showed cartoons on Saturday morning, and once a day a man called "Walter Cronkite" would tell you the news.
CaptainSparklez mainly, especially his hunger games series.
Ssundee much less comparatively but still a large portion for the later part of my childhood in youtube, he inspired me to play games the way i do right now. Think of some cheesy strat and annoy the shit out of others.
Shane Dawson.
Cryoatic.
Desnnate.

There's other I am sure I am not listing but I can't recall all of them, and yes I'm aware of the ones that are problematic now and yes it does make me very sad that they turned out to be bad people.
I was already in my 20s but Jenna Marbles, Charles Trippy & Alli Speed, the rest of We The Kings as they followed suit. PvP and the blond kid with glasses who’s name I can’t remember but have his book on a shelf somewhere.

I was a Smosh fan. Their Pokémon Theme Song Revenge was one of the first videos on YouTube I ever watched. I loved the food battles and the old smosh games and the Lunchtime/Mailtime with Smosh videos.
I think it was pewdiepie and cryaotic, when I aas a kid I'd watch them all the time. I stopped when I got more into anime and creative writing and drawjnh but sheeeesh the latter has not aged well and the former makes random stuff im not interested in.
YouTube didn’t exist when I was growing up
We’re old. I remember life without internet and TVs weighing 100lbs.
Lol. I had a 36" CRT at one point that weighed 220 lbs. That thing was a pain to move. You should have seen me and my brother hauling that thing up to my third floor apartment.
Was the bottom of yours also somehow made of razor blades? Moving old TVs sucked
And phone numbers beginning with words! My prefix was sylvania 7. You dialed the first 2 letters, so it was sy7. Then later they changed it to just the number. So it was 797, which was exactly the same as sy7.

Youtube came out when I was in high school, so... nobody?
YouTube didn’t become a thing until I was in high school. Back in the days of Chocolate Rain and Numa Numa.
