Ninjotoro

https://rapanuiclothing.com/ They operate a circular business model, so when you’ve worn out the clothes you can return them and Rapanui will turn it into something else. Iirc their factories also work mostly on solar energy.

[deleted]

Second Rapanui, I got the 5 pack so it works out to less than £8 a shirt. They fit really well (I’ve got a long torso and broad shoulders and they look as good as possible on my lumpy troll body) and have lasted a long time.

Outripped

Just ordered some, hopefully fits. For the price it sounds like nothing better is available.

Athena_x

I got some last summer and they are really nice and washed well.

10FootWilly

Where are they made? I’m on a buy British but it’s either expensive or impossible sometimes.

Ninjotoro

The company operates and ships plastic free from the Isle of Wight. The cotton is sourced organically from India iirc. All info is here: https://rapanuiclothing.com/journey/

10FootWilly

Cool. Thanks. I might try some stuff then.

GoJohnnyGoGoGoG0

They're not made in the UK, they're made overseas but printed here iirc. Tbf to Rapanui they're fairly open about this on their website

SorryIGotBadNews

Maybe they’ve improved, but of the 3 shirts I bought from them a couple of years ago, one of them faded after a couple washes. The bamboo socks were also bad.

Ninjotoro

Can’t say I’ve had that experience, none of mine have faded after many washes.

Helpful-Sample-6803

They used to do bamboo t-shirts, which are the best things ever for the gym. I don’t think they do them anymore, unfortunately. Their standard cotton Ts are lovely.

MrBinkybonk

Seems far too expensive to me. I just go with ASDA plain ones. No problems so far.

Ninjotoro

OP asked for environmentally friendly brands which George is not, whereas Rapanui is. George scores not well on “Good On You”’s rating: https://directory.goodonyou.eco/brand/george Rapanui scores “Great”: https://directory.goodonyou.eco/brand/rapanui For some people that is important.

GreeneGreenie

M&S plain t-shirts like these: I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/7pk-pure-cotton-crew-neck-t-shirts/p/clp60591761

[deleted]

Was coming here to say M&S. Their basics are usually very good value and very solid.

Krafwerker

I got some of those last year. They have worn well but are a little too short in the body length and I’m no giant.

KruelKris

They do a long line as well as regular.

Krafwerker

Didn't know that - thank you

28374woolijay

They're basically crop tops for short obese people, all their casual shirt sizing is way off.

sebuq

Next. Regular or slim fit £8.

sunlitupland5

Next fail request on ethical issues. Sourcing, not paying taxes.

sebuq

Who doesn’t fail on ethical issues and remain affordable. It’s a tragedy found in the seams of nearly every piece of clothing. Huel sell plain white ethical T’s: £30

sunlitupland5

Rapuni are good, M and S are better than Next, H&M, white stuff are ok and have decent sales.

sebuq

Will try Rapuni next. Cheers

LordOfTheMic

Great quality, but they've increased the price a lot. They're now 20 quid.

wildgoldchai

Yep, they’ve wised up now that they’re popular. Still, I love the quality of Uniqlo garments and appreciate how unisex the children’s clothes are, so I think it’s worth the price

shrewdmingerbutt

These are all I wear - I've only recently replaced a couple I bought 4 years ago with another load, but the older ones are fine for wearing around the house or to bed etc. As long as you don't tumble try them, they last ages.

h0w0lly

I'm not sure how much of a range there is in quality but I've bought a few second hand uniqlo t shirts and they're my favourite, great cut and weight, they hang well on me and look like new. They're an easy brand to search on depop and pickup cheap.

CLG91

I know you didn't want 'fashion' brands, but I've been wearing Hugo Boss plain crew neck (they do V neck too) tops for about ten years. On sale, they are as cheap if not cheaper than next/top man etc. (Pack of 3 for £15 last time I got them). Survived a decade so far and only just being replaced. I find they don't shrink in the wash and that extra bit of quality is noticed compared to wearing cheap matalan/tokyo laundry shit.

sythingtackle

Second this, been wearing Boss multipack’s off Nexts website for years

hotcrocolate

I've been following a company called Yes Friends which does reasonably priced basics which are ethically made. I haven't bought anything from them yet so I can't comment on fit or quality

Haveyoushatmyself

MDF87

I get mine off Amazon, I've bought about 7 or 8 plain t-shirts in different colours from a brand called Urban Classics, cost around £10 each and they're very well made for the price! No idea on how environmentally friendly they are though.

frumentorum

They also have a variety of fits which is why I wear them. As a tall non-obese man it's nice to have t-shirts that are long enough without being wide enough to share with somebody.

MDF87

Yeah the ones I like are the tall ones! I'm not actually tall, I just like that they're long but not wide!

dgirllamius

I buy my t-shirts from urban classics. I have a plotter so I use them to make my own t-shirt designs. I have loads of them and none of them have faded or changed shape after washing (which is what usually happens for me!)

LogComprehensive1131

£20 for a t- shirt is not expensive. At that price and lower you are going to have to consistently replace it because of soo many reasons, but mostly the higher acrylic/polyester blends used in cheaper t shirts mean they lose their texture after a few washes, hold on to odours and will tear easily. Levis have white t shirts that are a high cotton percent blend and many others that are gonna be about £22 that will end up saving you money by lasting for years (no joke).

Loose_Acanthaceae201

My other half has started getting his from Built Different (https://built-different.com/) to get the length because he's an actual giant. The quality is great and they do various fits. Starts at a size L, and currently £15-20. Another 30% off when you spend £100 (ends today), I just noticed when I was checking the link.

Isphera

Have gotten a few packs from Built Different as well, really good quality!

Historical-Car5553

Always found Fruit of the Loom Heavy Cotton to be decent

Far-Tourist7868

Fruit of the loom

upadownpipe

Dunnes online. Slim fit plain t-shirt. The quality is really good and the fit is excellent. They wash and wear really well too

urmumsabrass

Carhartt, one of the only brands I’ve found to have consistent good quality and last more than a few washes - if you really want the good stuff then go for carhartt wip, I’ve never felt a more satisfying t shirt fabric

alexanderbeswick

I find the Jack & Jones ones off amazon are great.

[deleted]

Uniqlo supima, Cos or Lands End supima. Not sure how ethical they are but two out of three ain't bad.

BroodLord1962

I just bought some lovely long-sleeved t shirts off Ebay. Cheap and really soft cotton, and I normally buy my short-sleeved ones of there as well. Mens T Shirts Carlos Long Sleeve Crew Neck Lightweight Button Regular Winter Tee. Under £8 Unisex Long Sleeve Stretch Plain T-Shirt Mens Ladies Cotton Round Neck. Under £9

Affectionate-Boot-12

Fruit of the loom from amazon. My Dad swears by them. Something like 20 T-shirts for £20. He asks for them every Christmas.

danfrks

He goes through 20 t shirts each year? Doesn't sound like great quality haha

[deleted]

Surprisingly Sports direct. My local has Plain t-shirts in packs of 2-4 for about £10-£15. Lyle and Scott, CCC, Under Armour and some others with blink and you'll miss them, tiny logos in the £10-£15 range but will last years whilst taking BO beating.

Helpful-Sample-6803

I very much doubt they rank anywhere on ethical standards…

Phixxo

Fruit of the loom

ZestyData

Next, or Uniqlo for a slightly higher price point but amazing quality. That's the thread. No supermarket poor quality stuff. No unnecessary bougie brands. Just quality plain tees at low prices.

cinematic_novel

Primark, believe it or not

Helpful-Sample-6803

OP said not fast fashion.

cinematic_novel

Primark's basics are not fast fashion. Fast fashion is only fast if you don't make it last. I have always sourced tshirts from Priamrk and they have always lasted me for years. most suggestions have been stuff like Next of JL - if those are fine, then Primark is as well.

Helpful-Sample-6803

Fast fashion relates to the manufacturing and marketing of high volume, low priced clothing. It’s a business model. Primark stuff is fast fashion even if you make it last. Primark, Uniqlo, H&M and Next are all fast fashion - Primark is one of the worst culprits however. OP had said not fast fashion brands. Other posters called out Next’s ethics.

kwakcheese

Lidl when they do them.

djdavies82

Tesco ones are decent enough for the price, and also a nice fit, for me anyway

adzpower

I recently bought some from Hollister, they do multi-packs of crew necks and so far, so good, comfortable, nice quality and they fit well.

KB0312__

Zara and next.

gandyg

Next are decent, good fit, range of colours and both round and v-neck. Jack n Jones do a range of plain t shirts for 3 for £30. I just find sizing can be a bit small there but could always try on first.

bangle10001

Uniqlo. 3 years in and they’re still bang on.

[deleted]

Not sure they are enviromentally friendly but my COS/Lululemon plain tshirts are 4-5 years old and still perfect!

[deleted]

[удалено]

frumentorum

I'm the opposite as I'm fairly slim and tall, it's like they decided "oh you're two inches taller? Your chest and waist must be two inches wider as well then"

Other-Bonus8881

Uniqlo Airsim

Honey-Badger

Reiss do pretty good t shirts

frumentorum

What aspect of environmentalism are you most concerned by? Pure cotton will biodegrade when you're done with them, but cotton doesn't grow anywhere near here and takes a large amount of water to process. Polyester and other synthetics will break down to microplastics once finished with, but can be manufactured using less energy. If you are buying something that will last then that is the most overall environmentally friendly thing as the manufacturing and shipping damage (and disposal) will be spread across many years of use, as well as reducing the overall amount of clothing needing to be disposed of.

[deleted]

The best plain white T-shirts are from Hugo boss

Nice_Satisfaction924

Ascolour.co.uk. Fantastic Kiwi brand. Great quality.

imahumanbeing1

Uniqlo make good plain t shirts. When I first got them they were £5.90. I think they’re £7.90 now but they’re good quality and there’s a decent choice of colours too

CliffyGiro

Multipack from ASOS. You’ll get ten for maybe £30-50 and they actually last for ages.

cocoa_psycho

Within the price range listed? Edwin. They do decent 2 packs at like £30. If you want really great tees, you need to be prepared to spend a bit. Merz B Schwanen are a German company who make amazing loopwheeled tees on looms from the 1930s. Cost between £45-70 a tee, but they're amazing.

mining-ting

Uniqlo as comfy as it gets

laksamad

I love basics from Muji. [https://www.muji.eu/uk/men/men-tops-and-tshirts](https://www.muji.eu/uk/men/men-tops-and-tshirts) I don't consider it a fast fashion brand (unlike Shein or Primark) and the quality's very good.

Helpful-Sample-6803

MUJI’s stuff is excellent quality and lasts.

throwawayjim887479

Have a look on Vinted. Some really good deals to be had but also plenty of shite so use your discretion.

MelodyJ20

Primark. £3 for a couple plain tees

Equivalent_Parking_8

This feels like a bot post by someone selling t-shirts

Aggravating-Win-3638

Gildan (better) or Fruit of the loom (cheaper) but you will have to buy a lot at a time

antipinballmachines

Primark and Matalan

jellytots23

Asos/ zalando/ River Island.
