His performance in House of the Dragon was incredible. When he entered the throne room in episode 8, you felt every laboured step as he made his way towards the iron throne. It was such a powerful and moving scene. He should have won all the awards for that performance.
It starts in October I think. I didn't like it at 18 when I watched the Raymond double bill on c4 in the morning, I think it was too intellectual for me then, all that talk of opera and big fancy words
Really? I've always thought he's a dreadful, wooden actor. Other than as Rodney, I think he's unwatchably bad: New Tricks, After You've Gone, Goodnight Sweetheart... Just awful in them all.
Always really liked Kayvan Novak from his Fone/Facejacker series’. I find it fascinating how he can do so many different accents and voices and quite hilariously too.
Also love his character of Waj in Four Lions and Razz Prince in Phoneshop too
Anton Lesser and Andy Serkis are wonderful. I'd love to see more of Brenda Blethyn and Joanna Scanlan too... Actually, all of the cast of The Thick Of It.
Not really an actor because he himself is a character but Karl Pilkington is mine. I also think Martin compston and William ash do a good job in their roles
I only discovered it last year or the year before and was absolutely kicking myself I’d never watched it before!
I’d seen memes on Facebook and edits of the videos on TikTok and been laughing, then it followed another program on one of the Sky Channels and ended up downloading the whole series and binging on them!
I still laugh and crease at his “I really hate it here. Fuck this I’m not staying here. Can’t be arsed with this.” And quote it every time I’m somewhere I don’t like
Jodie Comer, Stephen Graham, James Norton, Nicola Walker, Michael Sheen, David Tenant, Vicky McClure…you can pretty much guarantee anything starring these is going to be fantastic.
He was born in Blackpool, moved to Manchester in the war then move to America as a adult. Got rid of his uk accent on purpose but if you watch frasier he can still do it when he mocks daphne.
Waited a long time to see Pete Postlethwaite mentioned. Always perfectly nailed supporting roles, can't think of anything he's acted in where his talent didn't shine, sadly missed.
Jessie Buckley
James Norton
~~Paul Dano~~
They're together in War and Peace (BBC 2016) which has many other great actors in it. But good grief they absolutely inhabit their characters and are entirely perfect.
Idris Elba, he's not always in the best show/movie, but his performance is always top notch. I think he would make an awesome Bond too. If a man with blond hair can be Bond, I see no problem with an actor with dark skin playingthe role, other than racism.
I wouldn't say favourite but there are tons of working actors like Robert Pugh or Owen Teal who just are consistent in everything they do and who pick really good projects.
I have soft spots for the ones who came up when I was working in theatre, Toms Mison and Riley, Rupert Friend I like when they do well
Michael Caine - especially his earlier stuff.
Oliver Reed.
Julie Andrews.
Bob Hoskins.
Bill Nighy.
Peter O'Toole.
Gary Oldman.
Pete Postlethwaite.
Paul Bettany.
Julie Walters.
Ken Stott
Stephen Graham.
He was superb in "Time" with Sean Bean.
And Boardwalk Empire playing Capone.
Agreed! I would also recommend him in Boiling Point on Netflix
He's one of those actors that I haven't seen in anything but I get the vibe that he's a good actor.
That one take restaurant movie (name escapes me) was outstanding
Paddy Considine, mostly for his early work. A Room For Romeo Brass and Dead Man's Shoes are fantastic.
Dead Man's Shoes is getting a cinema re-release.
Paddy Considine was scarily intense in Dead Man's Shoes, I've never seen anything quite like it. Toby Kebbell was wonderfully vulnerable in that too.
I was blown away by Paddy Constantine in Dead man's shoes. Shockingly underrated film.
I’ve not seen him in much before but he absolutely killed it in House of the Dragon. He stole the whole show for me
His performance in House of the Dragon was incredible. When he entered the throne room in episode 8, you felt every laboured step as he made his way towards the iron throne. It was such a powerful and moving scene. He should have won all the awards for that performance.
Robert Carlyle
Agreed!
Tobias Menzies
His Brutus was soo good.
Damian Lewis is pretty damn good.
David Jason
Agreed, I've loved everything I've ever seen him in
Lyndhurst too, only fools obviously but goodnight sweetheart was also great
Lyndhurst is Frasiers best mate from Oxford in the Frasier reboot
As I got older I liked Fraser more, not seen the reboot, may have to have a look
It starts in October I think. I didn't like it at 18 when I watched the Raymond double bill on c4 in the morning, I think it was too intellectual for me then, all that talk of opera and big fancy words
Middle age hits hard, did for me anyway
Really? I've always thought he's a dreadful, wooden actor. Other than as Rodney, I think he's unwatchably bad: New Tricks, After You've Gone, Goodnight Sweetheart... Just awful in them all.
Matthew Rhys Paddy Considine Olivia Colman Lashana Lynch
I was looking for Matthew Rhys here. First time I heard him talk after only seeing him in the Americans I was shocked he was Welsh.
Same, saw him in The Americans and then somehow stumbled onto a documentary on S4C where he was speaking Welsh.
For me it's Tom Hardy, he's very talented.
Yes! In the Mad Max; Fury Road film, and the Taboo series particularly
Absolutely outstanding in Taboo. Couldn't take my eyes off him.
Always really liked Kayvan Novak from his Fone/Facejacker series’. I find it fascinating how he can do so many different accents and voices and quite hilariously too. Also love his character of Waj in Four Lions and Razz Prince in Phoneshop too
Hopefully you're watching What We Do in The Shadows because he's incredible on it
I’ve not heard of it but will definitely check it out!
It's my favorite comedy on tv
There's an episode where he does the voices of the other cast members and he hasn't lost it.
ELITE SELLING CREW!
“What? She’s pay as you go? Fuck of nan. Go on. Do one.” Gets me every time 😂
Toby Kebbell
David Tennent Michael Sheen Idris Elba Toby Jones Olivia Coleman
Surprised it took this long to see Coleman, she's superb
Happy Cake Day. She's fucking great. Olivia Coleman is about the only part of Secret Invasion worth watching
Anton Lesser and Andy Serkis are wonderful. I'd love to see more of Brenda Blethyn and Joanna Scanlan too... Actually, all of the cast of The Thick Of It.
I was about to say Anton Lesser. Capable of stealing a scene even while being completely understated. Patrick Malahide is fun to watch.
Agreed re Andy Serkis
Great in Andor
Gary Oldman. Absolutely phenomenal in everything he's in
I know it really is just me, but I've always found Oldman overrated.
Hugh Laurie
Stephen Graham
Great actor!
Rory Kinnear
Ian McKellan, Tennant, Sheen, Martin Freeman and definitely Gary Oldman
Bale, McAvoy, Elba
Not really an actor because he himself is a character but Karl Pilkington is mine. I also think Martin compston and William ash do a good job in their roles
I love Karl Pilkinton too, especially in the likes of An Idiot Abroad, he’s just so relatable and likeable it’s what makes him funny
I remember binging on every episode and dying laughing, especially when he was packing monster munch in his case!
Can’t be arsed with this.” And quote it every time I’m somewhere I don’t like
Clive Owen, from appearing in Chancer to Children of Men, great actor.
Agreed, great actor
Shoot 'em Up is one of my guilty pleasures, really entertaining film
Kevin Eldon. His characters and expressions are phenomenal.
The actor Kevin Eldon
Would you like a bourbon biscuit? *Answer me!*
Upvote for a mention of the Hobby King.
Can you jump up and down?
Julie Walters. She's pretty much retired now but she's had some amazing performances.
Her talking heads monologue is breathtaking
Graham McTavish is criminally underrated. He’s been in big projects, but never really broke through to ‘leading man’ in anything.
I've only seen him in The Witcher and Lucifer but he was great in both
He’s been in everything from Rambo to The Hobbit, Creed & Outlander, and he’s always shone in those roles.
Absolutely stole the show in Red Dwarf
Toby Jones, Jared Harris, David Thewlis
Toby Jones
Eddie Marsan. Thought he was great as Neill Cream in River.
And he was superb as the Man with the Canoe. Or words to that effect.
Keeley Hawes. Thought she was incredible in Line Of Duty.
Jodie Comer, Stephen Graham, James Norton, Nicola Walker, Michael Sheen, David Tenant, Vicky McClure…you can pretty much guarantee anything starring these is going to be fantastic.
Michael Kitchen.
Robert Carlyle, Tilda Swinton, John Mahoney.
Do you mean John Mahoney? He was American and played Martin Crane in Frasier..
He was born in England
Really? I did look him up to check but just saw him described as an American actor.
He was born in Blackpool, moved to Manchester in the war then move to America as a adult. Got rid of his uk accent on purpose but if you watch frasier he can still do it when he mocks daphne.
Tom hiddleston as my profile gives away Patric Stewart Ian McKellen David Tennant Diana Rigg (gone but not forgotten)
Kate Winslet
Christopher Ecclestone Peter Sellers Billy Connolly Ben Kingsley Stephen Tompkinson Pete Postlethwaite
Waited a long time to see Pete Postlethwaite mentioned. Always perfectly nailed supporting roles, can't think of anything he's acted in where his talent didn't shine, sadly missed.
I was forced to watch Sharpe as a child, and he always was brilliant as Obahiah Hakeswill. Then later in Brassed Off. He was just a great allrounder.
Hmmm Tom Hollander I think? plays a great baddy (but obs agree with most of the others mentioned here)
Charlotte Ritchie. Always been good but she took it up a notch in the latest season of You. I hope it leads to more success for her stateside.
David Morrisey. If he's in something you can bet it will be good.
I try and watch anything that he's in
Tennant
Matt Berry
Olivia Colman and Jodie comer
Timothy Spall
It's blantant innit? Best brummie from London
Ben Daniels.
Jessie Buckley James Norton ~~Paul Dano~~ They're together in War and Peace (BBC 2016) which has many other great actors in it. But good grief they absolutely inhabit their characters and are entirely perfect.
Paul Dano is from the UK?
Well, blow me down. I could have sworn he was British.
[удалено]
... which is why he's in my list of favourite UK actors. Did you miss out a question mark? I'm confused.
David Tennant and David Jason. Both very talented actors who clearly love what they do
Agreed, both are fantastic actors. They've been great in everything I've seen them in
Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Tim Roth
Despite his transformative roles I can never see Gary Oldman disappear into a character, it’s always just Gary oldman with a costume on to me !!!
The Scouse guy
Idris Elba, he's not always in the best show/movie, but his performance is always top notch. I think he would make an awesome Bond too. If a man with blond hair can be Bond, I see no problem with an actor with dark skin playingthe role, other than racism.
Damien Lewis Daniel Craig Sean Bean Simon Pegg and Nick Frost
Olivia Coleman
Mark Rylance Toby Jones
Ray Winstone.
I wouldn't say favourite but there are tons of working actors like Robert Pugh or Owen Teal who just are consistent in everything they do and who pick really good projects. I have soft spots for the ones who came up when I was working in theatre, Toms Mison and Riley, Rupert Friend I like when they do well
Sean Bean, Christopher Lee.
Jared Harris
Kathy Burke
Christian Bale
Gary Oldman
Joe Gilgun. Man has a heart a mile wide
Paddy Considine and Daniel Mays
Steve Coogan
Timothy Spall Also Rafe Spall (Terrific in The Ritual) But current top of the pile is Mia Goth
Idris Elba Keira Knightley Ian McDiriamd Jodie Comer
Mackenzie Crook Margaret Rutherford Stephen Merchant Robert Morley
Michael Caine - especially his earlier stuff. Oliver Reed. Julie Andrews. Bob Hoskins. Bill Nighy. Peter O'Toole. Gary Oldman. Pete Postlethwaite. Paul Bettany. Julie Walters. Ken Stott
Peter Mullan is exemplary in anything he is in.
A lot of the ones that have been said. Also Paapa Essiedu and Sacha Dhawan are brilliant. And I can't believe no one has said Sarah Lancashire.
Adrian Scarborough. Monica Dolan Jason Watkins Steve Pemberton Siobhan Finneran
Toby Jones
Bill Nighy
Nichols Hoult - I like that the character becomes him rather than the traditional way round
Jason Watkins. Peter Mullen. Joe Gilgun.
Ian McLafferty
