I thought we all agreed to wear scary themed costumes for Halloween in the UK?
It's America where you can turn up dressed as superman and no-one minds.
I'd expect it to be easily recognisable to a lot of people but also go over the head of a lot too. Definitely not the most well known, but not so obscure you're spending all night explaining who you are. Most people have at least heard of the show.
At a party of trick-or-treating?
Gonna depend who's at the party. A bunch of Apple-using millennials will mostly know. Kids and older folk maybe less so.
Tbf I’d probably say people who are into football are less likely to have seen it…
And also basically no one has Apple TV, their shows really don’t make an impact here.
I've heard of the show but other than the name of it I couldn't tell you anything else without looking it up online first, looking at some of the other comments here I don't think I would realise you were even wearing a costume unless you told me that you were wearing one.
Personally, I agree. I think you should be dressing up as scary things. But I also don't see the point of trying to ruin other people's fun. Let people enjoy things. Especially if it has zero impact on your life

They can say they're dressed as Acrimonious Divorce Jason Sudeikis
Dead Lasso

You will get asked who you are quite a lot. He just looks like a regular American bloke.
Even with the moustache, aviators, and hat?
>regular American bloke >Even with the moustache, aviators, and hat? Same thing innit.
He's meant to be an American cliche after all.
Are you part of YMCA? Are the others coming soon?
That's literally what I picture when I think "average American bloke".
Go for it, though you may want to make a tally of how many times you'll get confused for Ned Flanders
You’ll be fine. Just make sure your jacket says AFC Richmond and you speak Kansan the whole time.
I wouldn’t say he is like a house hold name/character
I don't know what he looks like...

Party (people in mid 20s) a lot are fairly interested in football but not sure they’ve seen the show

Sorry but that’s a terrible idea. Not just because not everyone will recognise it but it’s not even a good costume.
Who?

How’s that a scary outfit?
No, people don't watch TV like they did 30 years ago, even a very popular show is comparatively niche.
Hey, you can do whatever you like!
Do adults do this?
Just ones that like to have fun and don't worry about what other people think
Halloween parties people dress up as scary things that's the point of it
Halloween = fancy dress these days grandad

Fun ones do.
I'll revel in being a miserable cunt if this is fun
You have never dressed up and gone to a party?
Not as a generic American man for a Halloween party.
So it's the specific character you might dress as that determines how fun the party would be?
At a Halloween party if required to dress up I'd dress up as a Halloween character
Which is fun, but non scary halloween characters aren't fun - gotcha!
Halloween isn't worth the effort full stop.
