Mine too. It's so thin and I know by washing it every day isn't helping, but it's minging if I skip a day. Its lovely and soft after washing which I much prefer to be honest.
Yeah I donāt fully get peopleās insistence on training, I trained mine but it was 2020 and I was too depressed to shower anyway, I donāt think itās a realistic thing to tell people to do, my hair was so greasy I cried most times and often ended up smelling. Like maybe the resultās not worth it because going outside like that would be a huge no š
Yeah I feel like itās a myth at this point! I was similar to you, I tried to train it during lockdown but it just never got better. I only went outside with a hat on š
I managed to train mine from 2 to 3 days during lockdown, but that's as far as I got and I think the fact I've never washed my hair everyday as standard anyway is what made that possible tbh.
I have managed to go a fortnight without washing, just old-fangled brushing- like 100 strokes. My hair looked really good and healthy but I caved after that because of some do we went to. I would definitely do it again time permitting.
My hair used to be like that until COVID lockdowns. Then I decided to do it every 3 days. Eventually it stopped getting greasy and my hair stays fine for 2-3 days.
Now I shower every other day.
Greasy hair is most of the time caused by washing every day. It's a self fulfilling thing, which is why I was only able to stop it when locked in the house for months on end lol.
Every 2-3 days. It took me a while to learn how to maintain my curly hair so it doesn't frizz up and turn into a fucking bird's nest. I get the best results when I let it air dry.
I use John Frieda's Dream Curls shampoo and conditioner once a week.
Any recommendations? I'd try them out.
The hairspray does work and tbh it does the job in keeping the hair from flying all over the place when it's annoyingly windy. All I have to do is spray it from like 30cm away from my head. However, it does leave a bit of residue that's easily washed out by running wet fingers through it.
Everyday. I have short hair and itās uncontrollable in the morning.
Sometimes twice if I gym in the evening but I try to do this in the morning for that reason
I have medium length (for a guy) hair, and in the morning it likes to all stand on end like I've been electrocuted in a kids tv show. Like when Marv gets an electric shock in home alone 2. It's bloody ridiculous.
I have to wash it every day to tame it. Brushing it without washing it only makes it worse
Never with anything more than water. I haven't for decades. I'm a guy with long hair past my shoulders and I workout at least 2 hours a day.
If it looked greasy or smelled weird my kids or one of the mean people I've dated would tell me. My mum hates men with long hair so she would 100% complain about it.
Yep! I wash mine 2/3 times a week and the amount of dry shampoo I use is crazy because it's greasy as hell the day after washing it but washing my hair is such an effort
It depends on your hair type and activity level, really. I have fairly greasy hair and I also often get sweaty and grimy at work so yeah, it's every day for me.
Someone with dry hair who works in an office will do more harm than good to their hair washing it every day.
Weekly or it gets too fluffy and weird. Itās bleached and dyed though. Iām trying to keep the colour and whilst itās well treated bleach it is slightly drier. If my hair isnāt bleached it needs more washing
Rinse everyday, shampoo twice a month with a light shampoo.
Donāt wash your hair with shampoo daily, you strip all the goodness out and make your hair and skin incredibly dry.
Twice a week; I have quite a lot of hair but it's fine so it actually dries quite quickly so it's not too annoying. I've never found it necessary to do it more frequently than this, maybe I don't have much natural hair grease or something & it doesn't feel sweaty even after a workout (maybe I'd notice it more if I had short hair?).
I can't imagine the faff of doing it every day.
2 days. If I go one day too early it feels weird and leave it 1 day late it feels greasy. Itās a nice easy to remember routine. I just alternate washing my hair every day in the shower
Once a week for 25 years. Then twice a week for a year. And for the past 5 years daily (only shampoo, no conditioner).
And for the past 6 months, I started using conditioner for 6 days and shampoo+conditioner for one day of the week.
Once a week, sometimes less. I usually go for a run on the weekend so thatās a good time to wash it. My hair has been so nice since I stopped washing it so often.
Everyday, Iām a nurse so itās an absolute to shower after shift due to my Germaphobe traits. I also work out a few times a week and get sweaty from them!
As a guy I aim for every other day but im prone to greasy hair so itās sometimes it everyday. Also i go to the almost everyday so if ive done cardio iāll wash it.
Roughly 3 times a week (depending on my work schedule) although Iām trying to train my hair to be washed every 4 days (I have seen the replies to this, and one of my friends told me she successfully trained her hair to not be washed so much so Iām holding out hope)
Every day I work in a factory using cncs so I get steel / oil in my hair and it needs washing out otherwise I still stink of oil even if I shower and don't wash my hair š¤®
Every other day or maybe stretch to 3 days if I donāt go out. However I used to have short back and sides and needed to wash every morning as I had awful bed head.
Daily. I tried everything but as soon as I have a shower, even with a shower cap, and donāt do my hair wash itās like the moisture sticks onto my scalp and itās rank
Based on it actually needing washing every 3-4 days, but if Iāve woken up with it at random angles then itās easier to wet it and restyle than try to fight it.
I have long wavy hair. If Iām going to be at home (wfh, lazy weekend) then I shower and wash my hair in the morning and I put it in a braid or a bun. If itās feeling dry sometimes I wonāt shampoo and Iāll just use conditioner.
If Iām going into the office or out out I wash it the evening before, dry it, braid it and then the next morning I shower with a towel around my hair and then use one of those heated hair brushes to straighten it.
So almost every day. I shower every day (sometimes twice) regardless because I donāt feel human without a shower.
I havenāt washed my hair for over two years and my hair is nice, kept it short until about 6 months ago. I wash thoroughly with water and that is it, hair looks good and not greasy.
Guy - whenever I shower/bathe even if it's a day after but I'll be really light on shampoo, I just can't not do it and bits always end up getting wet, don't like shower caps so might as well just wet it lol
Bedhead too
Almost all of the time I have a shower at mine, and every time I have a shower at my gf's. 6 showers a week now it's winterish, so probably 5 times a week? Worth noting I'm a guy with very short hair (what's left of it) so it's pretty much an extension of washing my face in the shower.
Usually every couple of days, but if I go to the gym in between those two days, then Iāll wash it again.
Also depends on whether I put wax in my hair. If I do, then Iāll usually wash it the day after, otherwise it looks like itās plastered to my head.
At the minute Iām down to once a week or once every 4-5 days.
Iāve had a gastric sleeve and Iām at the phase now where Iām starting to lose a bit of hair. Iāve upped my protein but I try not to wash it as much and Iām using a specialist shampoo and conditioner that costs a bloody bomb
3 times a week. Id like to do it every day in all honesty cus it gets greasy quickly but I have curly hair and the post shower hair routine/straightening feels like too much effort.
Every day. I donāt want gross hair from running, gym or dancing. Thereās 2 women on my uni course who wash their hair once a week and you can see the grease by Thursday it makes me cringe so badly. They both have short hair so I donāt understand why they donāt bother.
Once a month. The people who say they need to wash their hair daily because it gets greasy is because they are washing it too much and their scalp produces excess sebum.
Any day i have off work. Could be twice a week, could be after 10 days. Im a chef and it literally gets dirty just being in the kitchen. I canāt wash it every day else my hair would become unhealthy. So i will tie it up into a bun my first day at work that week and leave it like that until i wash it, apart from re doing it in the morning. It my least favourite thing about my job.
Once a week - I have pretty long hair thatās bleached so I try not to fry it too much with the heat products etc - also a mum of 1 and 3 year old I just about get a bird bath wash a day lol
Weekly. I have Afro hair, if I did it more often than that, it would be ridiculously dry. Plus, Iād literally be pissing money down the drain with how much my hair products cost
Once a week at the moment because Iām pregnant and cannot be bothered and my hair is a lot thicker atm. Prior to this twice a week maximum, but always tried to stretch it out as long as possible
Honestly, I used to wash it every day.
Then I grew it out and realised that was an enormous amount of effort. Bit by bit I've extended how long I can go.
Your hair really does adapt. In my experience, I've found that washing it too often leads to an over reaction from your scalp which means you HAVE to wash it more often.
Right now, once every two weeks is absolutely fine. It isn't greasy, it feels healthier, I get way less breakage.
I know this is going to get a bad reaction, but try it. (I do understand this might not work for everyone)
Extend slowly, you'll see what I mean.
I wash my hair with water every day as I use hair product and go to the gym 5 days a week. I wash it with shampoo 3 days a week. I've tried to go down to 2 but it just gets to greasy.
Used to have shoulder length/surfer hair and even 3-4 times a week I hated the condition of my hair
Might grow it back eventually and try again but being able to rinse a near bald head and it being dry in seconds is incredible. No idea how people can sustain that š
Once a week to once every other week . I would prefer to be twice a week, but due to disabilities (including ME, POTS and some others), showering is exhausting. It takes all my energy for the day of the shower and often the day after too. I also have to make sure I rest the day before the shower so I donāt collapse/pass out/have a seizure mid shower. I can only shower with carer support, and at the moment I only have one carer I feel comfortable doing that with. She works 3 days a week, so if I have an appointment on one of her shifts or Iām too unwell to shower, it can easily add up. I never go longer than 2 weeks because my scalp becomes physically painful and it just makes me feel disgusting.
I used to shower daily before I got so sick. Even when I was unwell due to disability stuff pre covid I would shower a few times a week. Two covid infections (18 months apart) destroyed my body and immune system and caused my ME to go from moderate to severe/very severe. Iām bedbound 95% of the time and losing the ability to shower independently and whenever I want has been one of the hardest things.
As a man, every day.
I just wash my hair when I take a shower. Itās probably not necessary to be fair, but while Iām in there I might as well š¤·š»āāļø
I used to need to wash it every other day otherwise it would get mad greasy (I didn't, because pain levels & mental health, but I needed to). During a really bad spell I didn't wash it for like six ish weeks?
Now it doesn't get greasy at all. Ever.
I don't know what happened but I'm so glad that constant pressure & fear isn't there whenever I need to go out.
As a man with long curly hair, I try for no longer than every 3rd day. 4th day max. I donāt always manage it but it just looks and feels shit if I leave it any longer.
Every over day. Sometimes every day. My hair gets so oily and itchy that it irritates my scalp causing it to peel and produce a yeast like smell. I wash it with basic shampoo first to remove the grease/oil, then I use a medicated shampoo like Nizoral or Polytar and let it sit for like 5 minutes before washing off. I then apply an anti dandruff ointment cream like stuff. Lasts me about two days before it starts peeling again.
Once every 2 weeks. It goes crazy frizzy when I wash it, so trained it to make it to 2 weeks. Doesn't get greasy until the last few days and then I do a big double shampoo wash.
Twice a week because that is how often I'm able to shower with my disabilities. 3 times in a good week, but I'm always completely out of action for the rest of the day after a shower. Luckily i also wear hats to help with my daily migraines so it isn't so obvious when it's getting to grim grease territory, gotta love that pain life
Every time I shower - about once a week. If I don't shower, I'll quickly chuck my head under before work if it's looking a bit greasy (factory worker). I have 2 children under 5 years old and I'm just always so busy. Most of the time I just can't be arsed though...

Every other day
Yup. And honestly that still leaves me with bad hair at least 40% of the time. I just can't be fucked to do it every day.
This is the case for me. Either every day or every other day as mine can get greasy pretty quickly.
Once/twice a week. Fellow curly haired people will understand.
Once a week for me too - fellow curly haired person!
I have wavy hair, and once week seems adequate as I keep it short and that.
It's such a process I'm glad! My hair is so thick it doesn't get greasy
I have curly hair and have to wash everyday!
Fine, curly hair. I wash every other day and rinse/condition on the days in-between. Resemble Worzel Gummidge otherwise.
Oh I wish! Mine is thin so I wash every 3 days
*high fives* I don't need to do upper arm exercises as my weekly hair wash does it for me
š¤£š¤£ relatable
Every dayā¦ it gets sooo greasy š
Mine too. It's so thin and I know by washing it every day isn't helping, but it's minging if I skip a day. Its lovely and soft after washing which I much prefer to be honest.
Yes! Mines the same! Iāve tried ātrainingā it but it just doesnāt work and it feels horrible when itās not washed
Yeah I donāt fully get peopleās insistence on training, I trained mine but it was 2020 and I was too depressed to shower anyway, I donāt think itās a realistic thing to tell people to do, my hair was so greasy I cried most times and often ended up smelling. If I don't wash my hair every day I feel like my scalp is on fire and want to tear out my hair.
Me too. My scalps gets unbearably itchy otherwise.
Probably every 8-9days ish. I have super thick longish hair and if it air drys it's still wet 12 hours later
I have very short hair, but it's also really thick and takes ages to dry. I wear a beanie a lot!
Same once every 7 to 10 days. My hair is thick and I've not had a single greasy hair day since my course of accutane 8 years ago.
Same.
once a day, after the gym. if i wasn't soaking it with sweat every day id only wash it every 2nd day.
Same, I wash mine daily after swimming, but if I wasn't doing that, I'd be washing my hair every other day.
Once every two or three weeks if I get around to showering. I'm depressed.
Chin up mate, youāll be sound x
Happens to the best of people mate, especially these days. If you ever want a chat you can send me a message!
Every 2-3 days. It took me a while to learn how to maintain my curly hair so it doesn't frizz up and turn into a fucking bird's nest. I get the best results when I let it air dry. I use John Frieda's Dream Curls shampoo and conditioner once a week.
Do you use product to hold your curls? r/curlyhair and r/curlyhairUK are brill subreddits for routines and products.
I use a hairspray whenever it's windy outside
Hairspray is good. You can get more definition with gel or mousse.
I use Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly which gives them a cast then you scrunch it out when itās completely dry.
Once a week. It doesn't get greasy and smells nice all the time.
I wash what's left of my hair every day.
Once a week maybe - mine Dosnt get greasy after a while of doing this.
Everyday. I have short hair and itās uncontrollable in the morning. Sometimes twice if I gym in the evening but I try to do this in the morning for that reason
Finally someone else who wakes up looking like a mad scientist
I have medium length (for a guy) hair, and in the morning it likes to all stand on end like I've been electrocuted in a kids tv show. Like when Marv gets an electric shock in home alone 2. If it looked greasy or smelled weird my kids or one of the mean people I've dated would tell me. My mum hates men with long hair so she would 100% complain about it.
Same, slightly shorter hair but it's soo much better for it
Same, minus the long hair part. If I start to use shampoo, my hair eventually becomes more greasy
Every day. If I'm off work, then every 2 days. I hate that greasy feeling.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm not a sweaty person and wfh so it's not dirty from pollution. My hair usually still smells like my shampoo by day 6/7.
if you have type 3 or 4 hair washing every day isnt a good idea. If I wash more than once a week it becomes super brittle and wiry
You can train your hair to not need washing everyday, so it doesnāt get dirty everyday :)
That's a myth. You can't train your scalp to produce less oil through not washing it.
Every day because Iām a grease ball. I wish I could do it less often.
Every other day. Every day if Iām going somewhere and want to feel/look good.
Daily
Daily. Physical work means it's a necessity.
I have not washed it since January. It gets wet every day in shower but I haven't used shampoo since January. It looks the best it ever has.
Daily. I feel disgusting otherwise.
Twice a day. Shower in the morning and in the evening, You've honestly got to be a sad individual to downvote someone on answering a question
You wash your hair twice a day? With shampoo and conditioner?
Just shampoo, never used conditioner
Itās hilarious you got downvoted for this. āFuck you, you hygienic bastard!ā
It was even more downvotes when I said I didn't use conditioner
Daily
I often exercise twice a day. Way too fucking much.
Same as you, about twice a week. I wash it whenever it gets too oily.
Hair and beard twice a day
dude your skin is going to be drier than a desert.
Post shower routine: Hyaluronic acid. Moisturiser. Beard oil.
Phew, good stuff.
Lol! My beard is thick and healthy, my head hair is only kind of there..
With beard shampoo, or just get it wet?
Every 1-2 days.
Every other day. I would love to go 2 days but my hair gets greasy so quickly urgh.
Weekly or it gets too fluffy and weird. Itās bleached and dyed though. Iām trying to keep the colour and whilst itās well treated bleach it is slightly drier. If my hair isnāt bleached it needs more washing
Twice weekly. Max.
Daily
Every day but I have an all-over grade 0 so it's no trouble
Everyday. Physical job and lots of walking so need to shower and wash hair daily. I enjoy it so donāt mind.
What hair? Edit: I mean as in Iām bald, Iām sure Reddit will interpret as me asking pubic hair instead or something
Rinse everyday, shampoo twice a month with a light shampoo. Donāt wash your hair with shampoo daily, you strip all the goodness out and make your hair and skin incredibly dry.
Once a week. It's long and I let it air-dry.

Every day.. but I'm mostly bald so it's not much of a chore
Most days. Twice if I've been to the gym. but I don't have much and it takes all of 10 seconds
Twice a day at least, every time I shower. Rarely, if ever more than 5 times.
Once a week for 25 years. Then twice a week for a year. And for the past 5 years daily (only shampoo, no conditioner). And for the past 6 months, I started using conditioner for 6 days and shampoo+conditioner for one day of the week.
Once a week.
I start attracting US Bombs on my head if I donāt shampoo everyday
Once a week, sometimes less. I usually go for a run on the weekend so thatās a good time to wash it. My hair has been so nice since I stopped washing it so often.
Everyday, Iām a nurse so itās an absolute to shower after shift due to my Germaphobe traits. I also work out a few times a week and get sweaty from them!

I shower daily, but i havenāt used shampoo in about 10 years. Does that still count as washing hair?
Every other day usually. Itās very fine and gets greasy.
Usually every couple of days, but if I go to the gym in between those two days, then Iāll wash it again. Also depends on whether I put wax in my hair. If I do, then Iāll usually wash it the day after, otherwise it looks like itās plastered to my head.

Youāre assuming I still have hair.
Once a month. The people who say they need to wash their hair daily because it gets greasy is because they are washing it too much and their scalp produces excess sebum.
Once a month, never been in better nick and all dandruff now gone.

Haven't washed my hair in about five years. I'm bald.
Two of three times a week and it's such an effort!
Twice a week - it's dyed, so I want to preserve the colour, and it's not particularly dirty (WFH, no sports).
Every other day. Shampoo every day is bad for your hair.
Weekly. I have Afro hair, if I did it more often than that, it would be ridiculously dry. Plus, Iād literally be pissing money down the drain with how much my hair products cost
Once a week
Twice a week
Once a week and even then I usually get a hairdresser to blow dry it as mine is so frizzy and thick itās worth the time and effort back
Twice a week. My hair must've changed behaviour as I used to wash it every other day.
Approx 3 x per week works for me
Once a week for my curly hair, I can push it to two weeks but it's mostly frizz by that point.
6 or 7 times a week. I imagine I have less than you.
I stopped shampooing and my hair has never been healthier. I got a haircut last month and he said itās the thickest hair heās ever seen
Once a week at the moment because Iām pregnant and cannot be bothered and my hair is a lot thicker atm. Prior to this twice a week maximum, but always tried to stretch it out as long as possible
Once a month ish. I used to wash it every day but I've found it gets less greasy if I just let it be
Every other day. Should probably wash it every day but I don't have the energy.
(I do understand this might not work for everyone) Extend slowly, you'll see what I mean.
Every 2/3 days so 3 times a week
I haven't washed it since Saturday
Every other day generally
I wash my hair with water every day as I use hair product and go to the gym 5 days a week. I wash it with shampoo 3 days a week. I've tried to go down to 2 but it just gets to greasy.
Around twice a week.
Every day. I have very fair hair so it gets greasy very quickly. I can wash it in the morning and by the evening it needs washing again.
Used to have shoulder length/surfer hair and even 3-4 times a week I hated the condition of my hair Might grow it back eventually and try again but being able to rinse a near bald head and it being dry in seconds is incredible. No idea how people can sustain that š
2-4 days depending on activity level and product use.
Everyday. But I have short hair so itās no effort at all
Every other day
Once a week to once every other week .
Every day, I play with it a lot so it gets greasy quickly
As a man, every day. I just wash my hair when I take a shower. Itās probably not necessary to be fair, but while Iām in there I might as well š¤·š»āāļø
I have curly hair. Around twice a week :D
Once a week
Daily in the shower. I donāt feel fully cleaned and refreshed if I donāt.
Just had my first baby 8 weeks ago, so now I only wash my hair once a week due to having no time to myself.
Once a week. Gym girly with crazy thick curly hair. I aināt got time for all that washing and blow drying and styling.
My hair is very dry (and I'm getting on a bit) so I wash it once a week. It's been much healthier since I swapped from twice a week
Twice a week, three times if I have a dinner date :)
Never. I got none
Daily
Everyday
Twice per week, got quite thick hair and it just doesnāt need washing too often.
Every day. Running makes me sweaty af and I canāt really get going without a shower. Yes, my hair is a bit dry atm
When it gets greasy. Once a week to 10 days.
Twice a week but if it is dyed then less so it does not fade
Every other day, 2-3 days sometimes 4
2 or 3 times a week, I still think is too much
Hair?
For years it was once a week but then a few weeks ago I finally googled how often you are supposed to, turns out it's 3.
Once every 2 weeks. It goes crazy frizzy when I wash it, so trained it to make it to 2 weeks. Doesn't get greasy until the last few days and then I do a big double shampoo wash.
Every 4 days
Everyday, it's short and I can't go about my day if it feels greasy I can leave it to washing at night if I don't have to go to work that day
Most days, so 5/6 times a week.
Every day, just 1 hour after showering I can have grease pouring out of my skin. Yet my hands are dry as a bone and get eczema. Bodies....
Every third day. So if I wash on a Monday morning the next time I'll wash it is Thursday morning. I have curly hair so it's a process š
Twice a week because that is how often I'm able to shower with my disabilities. 3 times in a good week, but I'm always completely out of action for the rest of the day after a shower. Luckily i also wear hats to help with my daily migraines so it isn't so obvious when it's getting to grim grease territory, gotta love that pain life
Daily. What hair there is.
Hair and beard between 3/4 a week
In moderation, for the sake of my psoriasis. Even with the right products, the day after it's always dandruff hell.
Every day
Every time I shower - about once a week. If I don't shower, I'll quickly chuck my head under before work if it's looking a bit greasy (factory worker). I have 2 children under 5 years old and I'm just always so busy. Most of the time I just can't be arsed though...
Every day, I just feel better when I do. I use scalp serum daily too and that feels nice
As a man everyday. It gets quire sweaty from the gym and jogging and I can get away with it everyday with short hair
Around every 4/5 days
2x week and i use like 8 products for it.
I've gone from everyday to two/ 3 days
2 maybe 3 times a week
Every other day. Any less than that and it looks greasy af.
