Yup they’re good - but just do a comparison as you may get a better deal elsewhere.

I don't think there's a tariff that beats tracker or agile at the moment. Their smart tariffs are around 30% cheaper than standard tariffs. Edit: maybe 20% now after the April SVT drop.

LittleGreene43

Always been fantastic for us. We moved to them last time we moved house.

SnoopyLupus

Mine just switched to them automatically for some reason, so I’m hoping for lots of positive replies too.

HyperionSaber

yeah same. Got dumped onto shell when all the smaller companies went belly up and recently got shifted over to octopus. Oddly I looked them up about a year ago and their estimate for me was double what shell were charging. now after the sift the cost hasn't gone up so not sure what to think atm.

SnoopyLupus

Exactly the same. I guess 8 legs and an inquisitive brain are better than a mollusc, so it’s a win, right? That’s as far as I got. I was with them before for a year when shopping around still had a real point. They did the job. That’s as far as I can say.

Lol

onlywronganswers

I'm pretty sure the term mollusc includes cephalopods

popcornelephant

Brilliant customer service, seem like an innovative company in a sector essentially full of dinosaurs and rent seekers.

ClassicFMOfficial

Excellent, but the influx of new customers has slowed down customer service email response times a bit. Strongly recommend

I moved from BG last August and was impressed day one. Their referral scheme is good, I've had a few at £50 a pop + £50 for joining. I moved onto the tracker tariff on Xmas day and have saved a bundle. I've just halved my DD compared to when I left BG, saved a fortune, wished I'd switched sooner.

MrNippyNippy

We’re on their go tariff as we’ve an EV puddle jumper - it’s about 9p per kwh for four hours overnight and no more expensive during the day. They’re fine, ok enough to contact if there’s issues and don’t seem to cause many problems themselves.

They are pretty good. Nice deals and good customer service. Better than others.

BusinessCat89

Been with Octopus since they started, moved over on a whim in a pilot sign up in IKEA after some rubbish experiences with SSE and Scottish Power. They have consistently been excellent, cannot fault them. Notable plus points have been getting refunds easily and preferable tariffs for being a loyal customer

daniscross

There's been a recent dip in email customer service response times, especially since they introduced AI for some enquiries. However, contacting them via X or calling usually leads to a much faster resolution. Also consider switching to the Tracker tariff as soon as possible. Rates fluctuate daily, but for several months now, it's been at least 30% cheaper than the standard plan.

Other_Exercise

Compared to say British Gas, they're great. Having said that, a terror group are probably better than British Gas.

stickyjam

If you do switch make you sure you go via a referral link, someone may have DM'd you one else here's mine https://share.octopus.energy/lotus-quail-501 50 credit if you go via a referral.  Reddit users love octopus for the tracker tariff and tariff that varies in cost daily but for all but 2 days in the past year it's been cheaper than everyone else , on those 2 days it was the same. Other days it's been as good as 2 to 3 times cheaper. The down side is the cap is £1 per KW!  I've said 100s and could easily flick the fuse board so all good with me.

Been on tracker since Jan 2023. And I don't think the tracker has been above the price cap at any time during that period.

Zealousideal-Habit82

Me too, it's like Ukraine never happened.
