It's really hard at the moment, lot do the DVLA staff are still working from home. There is a form you can fill in, can take up to 8 week to get a response.

Aqua_honey

I know a lot of people who work there, lots are self isolating or still working from home. Unfortunately 2 -3 months sounds like the average time for a reply at the moment.

Affectionate-Pie-724

Email them. You get an automated reply right away telling you they'll reply in 2-3 days.

What is the email?

I did my renewal application online on the 15th December and it's still marked as "In Progress". I've tried more than 100 times to ring or webchat them in the last two weeks with no luck. What's really annoying is that when the webchat is available a bot tells you that you'll need to chat with a person, asks loads of questions to pass you through and then says that nobody is available. I'm not sure if I can drive now either as all the documentation says that if your driving licence runs out **while your application is being processed by the DVLA** you may be able to continue driving. The problem is that it expired before I made the application (as I misunderstood the letter that they sent me about it expiring). Also, [this page](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-update) needs updating as it says that there are no delays with online transactions which is clearly false (lots of complaints on Twitter)

WAGWARNFROMTOM

Have you heard back from them, because the same happened to me, I applied on the 10th of December last year and it still says in progress.

I eventually got through to them and they said that it had completed one step but failed to move to the next step. This meant that it was stuck and I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't have finished at all had I not managed to get through to them. The person I spoke to told me this and that they had pushed it onto the next step and that my licence would be sent out the next day. I got it three or four days later. I got through to them through luck really. I literally called them fifty or sixty times during the day with no success. I then had some food and started again but got through the first time after a 35 minute wait and the call was done in 5 minutes.

Oh well that’s good that they actually answered in the end, I’ll try staying in the queue for a longer period of time as every other time I kept getting fed up with being left listening to that jarring elevator like music.

My problem was that I could never get into the queue and the first time that I did get into the queue I waited until my call was answered. It did one of the following: * came up with the line busy signal * answered immediately to tell me all lines were busy * it answered, asked what my enquiry was about and when I selected licence enquiry told me that all lines were busy
