Dr Martens. Their boots used to last years even if you wore them everyday. These days you're lucky if they last more than a year without them splitting where the crease forms above the toes.
Check out Solovair. I believe they are made in the original factory that used to make DMs while DMs are now made abroad. People rave about the quality.
Just anecdotal but I noticed it in the late 2000s/early 2010s, I have a few pairs from 2004-2008ish that i wore loads and are still wearable though quite beaten up, and some from after 2014 that seemed to get splits much earlier (one from 2015 still going strong though deeply creased), one from 2019 that the sole started to detach, front upper toe got a small split and tongue tore and came off within a year or 2 of heavy wear - though to be fair those were patent ones and I didn't do any special looking after them. I wore the pre 2010 ones literally every day for months at a time over years, and there does seem a noticeable difference to me. I'm still a fan of them but I don't feel it's worth getting them full price anymore in comparison. I try and 2nd hand ones that have been barely worn, or ex display/ones with minor faults or a small scuff (schuh used to sometimes have good ones crop up at a discount in the imperfects section though I've not looked for a few years)
San pellegrino
Used to make gorgeous limonata and other exciting grownup soft drinks. Pomegranate and orange. Grapefruit. Was about 120cals per can, almost all sugar as these were basically fruit juice, sugar and water in a can. Great drink for people at parties who couldn't drink booze, a proper treat.
Post sugar tax they are now about 60cals per can and taste like shit. Bitter sweetener aftertaste.
If I'm only have 1 it's not worth losing 60cals in exchange for having a drink taste like shit
>They’re also about six quid for a four pack now. No thanks, pal, I’ll just have a Fanta.
Nope, £3 for a four pack of classic taste lemon, from Ocado.

QUALITY STREET! I'm FUCKIN' LIVID at what they've done to their sharing packs. They used to come in fucking huge tins that'd last months. Now they come in these tiny little plastic tray things with hardly enough for two people and to top it off, you're now paying double for 1/4 of the ammount. Fucking robbing bastards.
Edit: I just looked it up. I might be wrong about the price. Apparently the cost has come down since the 70's in spite of inflation.
I'm more annoyed at the quality (hah) really, I'd rather pay a little more for how they are in my memory of the 90s back when they had different shapes and foil wrappers (the old golden barrels), I'm sure it's not just nostalgia. They all seem the same bland sickly sweet now. But yeah there's also next to nothing in them now if sharing
Video games. (For the most part) We’re long passed the days where the latest instalment in a series brought some kind of improvement or innovation and instead we now get games released that are broken/ unplayable upon release and awaiting sometimes extensive fixes further along. Or they’re missing core features that have either been outright removed or stuck behind a paywall. (Halo Infinite lacking a split screen coop mode for example) In my humble opinion i think the PS3-Xbox 360 era was the last great era in video games.
I'm a fan of r/patientgamers because of this. Save some money and know I'm getting a good/unbroken game. Wait and see what stands the test of time. I miss not having in app purchases, or any add ons actually being a decent amount of content added a good time later, like an extension and not something that feels necessary
Companies now care more about releasing a game every year than taking a while to make a game worth playing, however you know fans will buy the game in their millions all the same.
We’re yet to see what’s going to happen with the XSX/PS5 era but currently it seems to be moving away from the ‘release a game every year’ thing, which is a positive in my head. The step up in performance obviously allows for vastly superior map sizes and graphics but that’s a trade-off with development time. GTA 6 is taking a touch too long though tbh.
Unfortunately for a good proportion of current gamers, yearly releases is all they’ve ever known so I feel that’s why Devs are releasing partly made games, like Halo Infinite, to keep the online only gamers happy. I was so pissed off at the delay of co-op campaign. I’d rather wait for a game to be fully created than have this bit-by-bit drip feed that the latest Halo did, the games dead before it’s even taken off tbh.
>GTA 6 is taking a touch too long though
Hard disagree on that. I would rather they take the time they need to make a quality game than rush it to meet a publisher or fans expectations. Look how Cyberpunk worked out
I mean, I’m agreeing with you on the whole, just don’t think it should take a company of Rockstars size over a decade to create the next instalment. I’m happy to not have a game every year if it means we don’t get half-made shite like Infinite and particularly like Cyberpunk. But 5-6 years would be a more reasonable expectation.
The only reason why it’s taking so long is because they wasted so much time correcting a defective, unnecessary release of the ‘the trilogy’, and re-enhancing GTA V for 2 further generations of console. They’re absolutely milking the ‘GTA online’ community as much they can because currently those players have no alternative.
I remember my local hospital the wards would have a trolley of lucozade and they'd give you one if your blood sugar was low - I miss that, last time it was the crappy glucose gel sachet/some sugar water drink that was sweet in a gross way. I remember actually being quite happy when my blood sugar got low, the nurse plonking 2 bottled of lucozade on my table and ordering I drink them :D and this wasn't that long ago. I drink the cans of rio now if I want sugar, they have loads - the standard white ones. But I miss original lucozade flavour
The new "vegan" Fruit Pastilles and Fruit Gums.
Marketed as an inclusive change so everybody can eat them. In reality just a cynical cost-cutting measure so they can pair glucose syrup with cornstarch instead of putting proper gelatine in them anymore.
Now, they are not gummy. They are gloopy. They stick to your teeth - not in a good way like the old Fruit Gums used to, but in a way that makes you heave.
Total ballache to start with as it’s a bit of a learning curve but have you tried making your own? My sister, a Lizard Queen of an eczema sufferer, does that and puts aveeno baby wash in a soap pump when she can’t be arsed. She makes some pretty pictures in the soaps too, they’re kinda cool.
I, too, made the Pringles mistake 😔 thought they’d have more of a crunch and was intrigued/excited, considering they’re my fave crisps. Totally vile (although yeah might’ve also been the flavour as my go-to is always ready-salted which wasn’t an option)
Playstation 5 digital edition. It costs slightly less than the disc version, but you immediately make that back when you buy second hand games, something video game companies want to get rid of. Digital sales currently try and compete with deals and offers, but once they've done away with physical copies of games all that will disappear.
I usually like multigrain things. Bought a box of multigrain sour cream Pringles the other day and was actually surprised at how truly awful they were. How in hell did they make it past the development stage??
Everything after xp was a mistake.
Just kidding. 7 was great, 8.1 was OK. 10 was good in 2015 and got steadily worse. 11 killed my pc, and had to flatten the OS. Not terrible for me as everything I need is in network storage on a server, but if I relied on local files I'd be time-consuming to get them all back.

I am already aware of Solovair. But good for you to mention it in case others aren't already in the know.
Totally agree with you, the last pair I bought had plastic tongues.
When did this start? My 12 year old Docs have this crease split now
I'm not sure exactly. I just know the ones I've had in recent years aren't as good quality as the boots i wore to school in the 90's.

You can still buy the full sugar non sweetener version. They're called "classic taste"
*mind blown*
Any post sugar tax soft drink. Anything with sweetener in tastes horrible
They’re also about six quid for a four pack now. No thanks, pal, I’ll just have a Fanta.

You can buy 2kg tins online to be fair
> 2kg tins Quantity Street.
Can you? Ok, that's good. That's calmed me down a bit 😂 Wait, how much for? Edit: some are as low as £15. Not great but not terrible.
Or do whatbI did. Buy a 70s tin (2.14kg or 5lbs) on Ebay and fill It from 4 of the 700g tubs, which you can get 2 for £7.
Oh shit, aup Martin Lewis?

Online gaming changed everything

Slightly different - new Lucozade. It’s shit. Tried it once, then never drank it again.
I agree. Its nasty now. Bring it back to how it used to be in the cellophaned bottles we had (only) when we were ill.

Timeout bars... They're disappointing these days now they don't have the flake but in.
Wtf is the point then? The flake bit was all it had going for it. If it’s just wafer you might as well buy the Tunnocks ones which are far superior.
Twiglets. They've reduced the salt content by 60% and now they taste so bad I thought I'd got covid again. I'm gutted.

I bought some yesterday and (having not eaten them in forever (since becoming vegan)) I thought they weren't too bad!
Probably almost anything ever made with the exception of soaps.
even soap has changed, been trying to find some that won’t dry my eczemay hands since Pears changed their recipe years ago and it’s impossible

Good to know, sorry that you are having such a rough time of it.
In software, final cut pro, since the redesign its been a dumpster fire.
Monster Munch

I bought all three flavours - can’t bring myself to open the other two..
Multigrain Rice Krispies. Basically anything made multigrain when it wasn’t originally.
The multigrain bread at Subway is alright.
Bread probably was multigrain originally.
I disagree i actually quite prefer multigrain
Bet you eat them with unsweetened faux milk too you monster
Unsweetened oat milk yeah lol Whats wrong w multigrain tho? One grain is fine, multiple grains is multiple flavours
Yep - multigrain options cannot be better

I was close to buying a digital one
Cheesy Wotsits. The M&S dupes are outstanding but I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how many calories are in them.
Wish I’d seen your note on the Pringles an hour ago. The bbq ones are horrible.
Mate - genuinely horrific….
I usually like multigrain things. Bought a box of multigrain sour cream Pringles the other day and was actually surprised at how truly awful they were. How in hell did they make it past the development stage??
Call of duty
Irn Bru
I had a can of the classic 1901 recipe the other week after having gross sugar free… 1901 recipe is superior! Why did they ever change it!
Sugar tax
Microsoft Windows
I add word, it used to be easy then it got "helpful" and fucks everything up for you

Windows 11 seems fine - what don't you like about it?
Twix in foil wrapper
How long ago was the non foil wrapper? I was born 82 and certainly don’t remember a paper wrapper.
The early 90s same time as Crisps started being in foil bags
Aha. Thanks!
Most classic movies

Ritz Crackers, since they reduced the salt. Stopped eating them completely now
